Hello to the very few people who know me here ! I think I will try to start being more active on here, because of what happened to agustofwind and zero cycle. I'm not sure what exactly i will be doing, and how this really works, but I will try !

As someone who lived through larry, phan, septiplier, and the dream SMP, I am disappointed but ultimately not at all surprised hearing that Zero Cycle has been taken off the internet. While I personally never got around to reading it, the amount of conversation I saw about it outside of fandom spaces, particularly on tiktok, was a warning sign, and it was clear there was going to be a breaking point at some point for the author. They're well within their rights to take it and themselves off the internet, and in some ways that's the brave decision on their behalf, and I absolutely commend them for putting themselves first, and apologise that it had to come to that.

For everyone who was talking about it on tiktok and twitter, and everyone bringing it into the drivers' comments, take this as a lesson. If you cannot keep rpf in rpf spaces, then you are not mature or intelligent enough to engage with rpf media. Point blank, full stop. I know that sounds mean and like I'm trying to gatekeep and being a hardass, but that's how it is. You should not engage with rpf media if you don't have the self-control to not put it in the real people's lines of sight. That's all.

Genuinely so important to me that there was no romance in phm.

"You just need someone to be brave for."

And the person he needed to be brave for was his best friend. It wasn't a lover, a partner, a romantic interest. It was his best friend.

And honestly this isn't even specifically about aroace grace- Rockys story could so easily be a romantic one. He's been completely alone trying to finish an impossible mission without his crew for years. And then an alien comes and they learn how to communicate. And with that alien they both save their planets. Rocky gives Grace fuel with no hesitation, even if in the movie it means he will get back home 6 years slower. 6 years longer to see his mate. And he still does it without hesitating for even a second.

That kind of devotion and story could have so easily been romantic. Two aliens who help save each other, who are both the most important people to each other, but they're not lovers.

Phm being a story about friends means so much to me

Basic Fandom Etiquette Everyone Needs to Remember:

Creators do not owe anyone content. Do not ask writers when they will update.

If an author did not ask for [negative] criticism , do not give criticism.

Read the tags carefully before reading a fanfic.

If you ignored the tags and were upset, that is your responsibility, not the creator’s.

Disliking a ship does NOT give you the right to attack people who enjoy it.

Do not tell authors or shippers that their ship is “disgusting,” “wrong,” or “shouldn’t exist.” Shipping fictional characters is not a moral failing.

No one is obligated to justify why they ship two fictional characters.

Headcanons are PERSONAL interpretations, not universal truth.

Dark themes in fiction do not equal real life beliefs or intentions.

Leaving kudos or short positive comments genuinely matters.

Not every fanwork is made for you, and that is okay.

Scrolling past content you dislike is better than engaging negatively

Enjoying a fandom later than others does not make someone less of a fan.

Disliking a fanfic does not entitle you to announce that to its creator. Sending hate comments to authors is NEVER justified, even if you disliked the work.

Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):

“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.

“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.

“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.

“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”

“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ‘she said.’”

“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.
