Norman shook his head.â Not really⊠Usually Iâm dead, Iâm a ghost but today it seems that Iâm not? Maybe Iâm dreaming or something.â He took a deep breath, that felt weird, breathing again felt weird and a bit uncomfortable.â I-I live here yes. I have a roommate⊠His name is Rhys, I donât usually carry a key because, well, being a ghost I donât really need one.âÂ
The teacher still felt pretty confused about what was happening, he did feel weird in the park but this? He didnât expect this. Norman cursed under his breath feeling a sharp pain come from his back.â God⊠I feel like something pressing agaisnt my shirt.â
Malcolmâs eyebrows rose in surprise. It seemed the night was rather strange after all. It wasnât just him feeling a bit off. â I can help you up to your apartment if you want? Make sure you donât fall again.â He had been a bit put off at the fact the other was normally a ghost but this town wasnât exactly normal. â Iâm actually here to visit Rhys, if heâs home. Iâm Malcolm, not sure if heâs mentioned me.â He chuckled a tad shyly before patting his pockets. âI think he gave me a key the other day but if not I believe I remember where he keeps the spare.â

If Ari was known for anything it was for having the stubbornness of a mule and being recklessness. All that mattered to him when it came to his cases was getting the job done. If he had to pick a fight or two to do that, he would. He could deal with the consequences later but at least he got information on a missing personâs case, suspected trafficking, he needed. A few bruises and a bloody nose was the least of his concerns.Â
The siren hissed as he prodded at the bruised skin of his side and took a seat at the dimly lit bar. It was a seedy little place where he didnât suspect heâd bump into anyone he knew. All was left now was to lick his wounds and drown himself in alcohol as he ordered himself a beer and shot of tequila.

âHonored to have Mad Max himself stop in for some shop talk and espresso. Keep the rubber side downđ€â

âTell me about it,â he said with a tired sigh. âIâve been feeling shitty all day and I have no idea why.â It didnât help that he looked kind of odd with how dry his skin was, or how the color of his eyes had turned into a tarnished amber hue. Paulâs upper half was spread out on top of the table with his head flat against the side. âCaffeineâs not doing shit and Iâve taken six espresso shots with a cold brew.â
â Mate, I think that's a bit too much coffee. â Even for a supernatural that seemed like quite a bit to Malcolm. At least he knew he'd be up the entire day and night if he had six shots of espresso and a cold brew. â What did you get turned into anyways? â He said with curiosity, taking in the other's dry skin and the his eyes' change of color.

âOh? Little old me?â Kiyoshi grinned over from his place behind the counter. âWell Iâm so sort of elf or something now and apparently that comes with an uppity sense of smell because coffee? Coffee is horrendous. Which is hilarious considering my occupation,â he tapped on his name tag, âAs a barista and all.â His ears, now pointy, were well hidden under the cap he was required to wear for work but his sense of smell? Ugh. Coffee was apparently not an elf, or more likely fae, favorite. âBut other than that? Fine. Iâm fine.â
It seemed to be a slow day in the coffee shop and Malcolm didn't feel bad about sticking around for a little chat. He nearly choked on his coffee as he laughed, â I think being a bit uppity might come with being an elf. â That was true from at least what he observed with one of his friends. â My friend Travis, an elf, tends to be a bit finicky. â He said with an easy smile. â Well, isn't that good? It be a shame if I couldn't get my coffee from my favorite barista. Too bad you currently can't stand the smell of coffee. â

Rhys had never considered himself a man with many regrets. He took the hits as they came and rolled with it. Despite the privilege that came from being born into an upper class family, life had not been kind. All the money in the world couldnât make up for the abuse he endured at the hands of his parents. The resulting scars, both mentally and physically, would always be a challenge he had to live with. All he could hope for was heâd be a far better parent than they had been.
Desmond may have been an unsuspected surprise but from the moment Rhys had found out about him, he had decided his child would only have the best. He had already been clean for over a year by the time he found out about his pregnancy. Alcohol and drug abuse had marred his past before, never shooting up but cocaine and ecstasy had been used, but Malcolm had given him a reason to get clean, as sad as it was. Des gave him a reason to stay clean.
His only regret? maybe he should have told Malcolm. He had been afraid of many things: Malcolm not wanting either him or their child being the main one. The last three weeks however, after voicing their hurt on both sides, had shown him maybe those fears had been only that. Malcolm looked at Desmond like the little boy was the greatest thing to happen to him. Rhys knew for himself, that was true. As exhausted as he was from talking about what the the future might hold for them, the werewolf couldnât help the soft smile that appeared on his face as he watched the older man play with their son. Malcolm wanted to be in Desmondâs life and as anxious as Rhys was before, he wanted him to be in it too. It was harder for him to admit he wanted his ex-lover back in his life too.
Rhys blinked himself out of the daze had been in at the sound of Malcolmâs voice. His long eyelashes tickled his face as he tried to pull himself back into the present moment, Malcolmâs voice as gruff yet soothing as ever. â Iâm just, thinkinâ about how we got here. Â I know we talked about it already but Iâm still sorry I ever thought you wouldnât want to be involved. â He murmured, voice quiet as he leaned back against the material of the couch, scratching nervously at the stubble on his face. â I just overthink sometimes. â Â Sometimes his over over-vigilance and paranoia made him make rash decisions. â Guess Iâm kind of happy the universe decide to correct my mistake and force us to bump into each other. â Desmond deserved this, to have what Rhys didnât growing up: two loving parents utterly devoted to his happiness. The werewolf let out a long sigh as he tried to choose his next words carefully, arms cross over his chest as he spoke. â Itâs gettinâ late you wanna maybe just wanna stay the night? I can order a pizza or somethinâ. â
MALCOLM WAS QUIET as he let the younger wolf speak. There was no reason for Rhys to apologize, there was nothing to forgive him for. He had done what he had always done, thought about survival and for Rhys in that moment survival meant running. He couldn't take away the other's pain or erase his past. He could always only listen and offer comfort when it was wanted. â Ya don't need to apologize, Love. I should've asked ya what had you so out of sorts that night. â He said softly as Desmond pulled at his facial hair making him wince at the sting. â What I said led ya to think I wouldn't wanna be and I'm sorry. Now just know, I'm gonna wanna be here for you both as long as you let me. â
He knew he didn't have a right to come in and intrude on Rhys' life, even if he wanted to be close to the man and their son. For all he knew, Rhys had moved on completely. They had always been open about their sexualities and Malcolm had never had a problem with Rhys having another lover, as long as he knew about them. He knew it didn't negate Rhys' feelings for him but that was then and this was now. He wouldn't overstep even if he his own feelings hadn't changed. â It's alright, I know ya do. I'll just have t' try to bring ya back when ya do.â Malcolm looped his arms around Des' waist before hauling himself off of the floor with an exaggerated 'oof' only to spin Des a bit as the boy let a shrill giggle out and clung to his fathers shirt as he walked over to the couch. The werewolf took the seat next to Rhys, knee bumping against his as he sat down and placed Des in the small spot between them.
He wrapped an arm around Rhys' shoulders as he pressed in close, nose bumping against the other's cheek as he breathed in his scent. Always a scent that reminded him of cinnamon and sugar, a little spice with sweetness. Much like Rhys' own personality. â I'm happy whatever is out there workin' it's magic on the world brought us together to. I love this little boy. â He murmured tossling Des' hair with his free hand. â I'll stay only if ya want me to.. if you're gonna order a pizza I'll pay. Supreme, everthin' but anchovies and pineapple right? Our usual?â
Norman was on his way back home he had gone to the park to admire the blue moon but started not feeling that great after a while deciding to head back to the apartment. Lucky enough he didnât get lost and was about to walk through the main door when smashed agaisnt it causing him to fall back on his butt.â W-What the hell?âŠâ He blinked. Had he really just hit the door? That wasnât possible. He blinked again looking down at the floor, he could feel it agaisnt his palm and his butt hurt from the fall. The teacher got up quickly. âWhatâŠWhat the hellâŠâ Turning around he saw his reflection on the glass window, he was less pale and not translucent. He touched it briefly and gasped at the cold touch, holy shit he was alive! Maybe it was a dream⊠that had to be it.
The teacher cursed feeling a sharp pain on the side of his head and when he touched it he noticed that he was bleeding.ââŠMaybe maybe Iâm high or something. Ghost can get high rightâŠ?â He heard footsteps and turned to look at the person.ââŠHuh.. I donât want to freak you out but Iâm bleeding and I think Iâm alive.â
THE NIGHT WAS QUIET with the super moon looming overhead. Malcolm had been out for a walk with one of his dogs, his old blue nosed pitbull named Lady, as he took in the sight of the blue moon. The air felt, strange tonight. He couldnât quite put his finger on it but he had been feeling off since he left his house and made his way over to Rhysâ apartment. He figured heâd stop in for the night to check on the other werewolf and spend some time with their son.Â
Malcolm had looked up from his phone just in time to see a dark haired man walk straight into the main door before falling. â Hey, you doinâ alright there? â He called out as he jogged up to the other with Lady beside him. â Is beinâ alive not your normal? â Malcolmâs brow furrowed in question, before he took in the sight of blood with a frown. â You live in this building then? We should get a better look at that wound. â It didnât seem like a lot of blood but it was better to be safe than sorry.
The reality of what was going on was just starting to sink in. And Marius wished it wasnât happening, but it was true. He knew innately that his constant craving had been taken from him, changed into something else. He saw people that others didnât, now. And it was more unsettling than anything else. â How do you know that youâre going insane? âÂ
â THAT DEPENDS, are you seeing things ? but that doesnât make you insane per say. â Malcolm said as he scratched at the side of his face with a small smile. It seemed the moon had the whole city acting a bit odd. It was comforting in a way to know it wasnât only him. â The other definition was doinâ the same shit expectinâ different results. Any of those fit you? â
Iâm from East Sheen, I went to public school where I learned Latin at the age of nine, and certain expectations were made of me to go to St Paulâs, Oxbridge maybe, and all that kind of thing. And I failed systematically to meet the mark - who I am and what I should have been are two very different things.
a-travis-ty:
âI donât think holding up would be the right phraseâ. Travis looked and felt like a mess. He was out of tune with himself and his surroundings. All the plants he kept in his house were dying without the magic he usually had, and he felt like he was withering too. When all of this was said and done, the elf was going to take a vacation.
He sipped his hot coffee and sighed, wanting nothing more than to drown himself. âWhat did you turn into anyways? I was stuck with being a lowly mortal human, wonderfulâ.
â A GOLEM I THINK ? One of those creatures made from clay made by witches? â Malcolm held up his free hand to show the bandage to Travis. â All I know is, I cut my hand open on somethin' this morning and I didn't bleed. â It was a strange sensation to not see red seeping from the minor cut. It hadn't healed though like it would have if he were his original species. The only thing he could think of doing was wrapping it up and moving on with his day. â Is being human that bad? Or is that more your pride talkin', mate. â His words held no bite, his voice only teasing as he took another drink from his coffee cup.
