Annette looked over at the other with a face of pure shock. “Insane? You aren’t going insane. It’s happening to everyone. Species are switched and it’s throwing everyone off, and there is no way to fix it. I’ve tried.” she spoke, looking over at the man with a small smile. “Sorry you aren’t going insane”

          Well, that news was a relief. At least Marius wasn’t alone in going through this; at least other people understood what he was going through. Annette’s words made the panicked tension leave his body with a sigh. ❝ Oh, good. I thought I was the only one, ❞ he murmured, running a hand over his face.

“Well I don’t think I’ve ever asked myself that question, but I’ve definitely asked other people it.” Yet he pondered for a moment with his lips pursed. “What has you asking, though?”

          Marius gnawed at his bottom lip as the other responded, and he watched him cautiously. He’d asked the question, so now he supposed he had to follow through and deliver what the other wanted to know; it was only fair. ❝ I’ve been seeing people, ❞ he started slowly, trying to make sense of it himself, ❝ But no one else sees them. ❞

          Fair point, but Marius was in need and the other man was just leaving him hanging. How rude. He’d learned his lesson, he wouldn’t approach this man again. ❝ Sorry, ❞ he apologized, though his tone was low and sarcastic. He wasn’t adverse to tipping well, but with the other’s attitude, he doubted he would. ❝ Didn’t mean to aggravate you. ❞

          The experience was something Marius had never encountered before - and that was saying a lot, considering he was a centuries old vampire. He was more than a little freaked out, and was looking to Malcolm for help. Maybe it was a bad decision, given their strange relationship to each other. But he was willing to take the risk. The other’s first comment hit too close to home and Marius gave a slight wince. ❝ That’s exactly what’s happening, ❞ he replied quietly, brows drawing together. ❝ I’m seeing people I, frankly, shouldn’t be seeing. ❞

Then he bought a house without telling Wade until after he bought it. And now, Wade was in this new town, and there was something strange going on.           Marius tilted his head as he examined the witch at the other’s comments, momentarily distracted from his own bewilderment. It was good, to take his mind off what was happening to him, even for a brief amount of time. ❝ Why d’you say that? Humor me, ❞ he urged, wanting to know the other’s story. ❝ It is a long way from Louisiana, ❞ he noted with an amicable nod. ❝ Never been, but I’ve heard it’s a ball of a time. ❞

It wasn’t until a moment later that they glanced up, looking at the person who’d spoken. “Or when you ask yourself questions and then also answer them.”

          That definition had been around for a while; Marius had heard it before, but it wasn’t exactly what he was searching for. He didn’t know what that was quite yet, but he knew it wasn’t repeating himself. ❝ Right, ❞ he said slowly, watching the other with a mix of concern and amusement at their response. ❝ In that case, I’m not insane. But... I’m pretty sure seeing things that aren’t there is included in that definition. ❞

Bei idly wiped his hands against each other as though to brush off some non-existent dirt that had gotten on them from the clean up. “Ahh… I would not consider 400 to be anywhere near a newborn. After the first twenty years or so, it’s been my experience that most vampires have gained some control. And after the first 100, they know what they’re doing.” He glanced back once more at the alley before glanced to Marius. “So are you done for the evening, then?”

          Marius supposed the other was right; 400 years was a long time to be alive. He knew because he had lived through it. But in comparison to some vampires he had met in the thousands of years, he was young. Still, Bei had a point - Mar knew what he was doing, just hadn’t properly executed it tonight. Thankfully he had the warlock to help him clear his mess. At the other’s question, Marius nodded and slipped his hands into his pockets. ❝ Yeah, that was all I needed tonight. Was going to head back home. What about you? ❞

         The reality of what was going on was just starting to sink in. And Marius wished it wasn’t happening, but it was true. He knew innately that his constant craving had been taken from him, changed into something else. He saw people that others didn’t, now. And it was more unsettling than anything else. ❝ How do you know that you’re going insane? ❞

Once the clean up appeared finished, Bei lowered his hands and the residual magic around them winked out till it was once again dark in the alley. “Now you have me curious.” He gave one more quick glance around himself before he stepped over towards Marius and around the spot where the body had been laying only moment’s before. “How old are you, then? You don’t seem as though you’re a newborn.”

          Marius was grateful for the help. He wouldn’t have been able to hide the mess otherwise, and ran the risk of being found out. He didn’t usually do things this way; wasn’t usually this messy. This wouldn’t happen again anytime soon. He gave a nod when the work as done. ❝ Thank you, Bei, ❞ he said. At the warlock’s question, Mar shrugged sheepishly. ❝ I’m in my late 400′s. Not nearly as old as some of the vampires I’ve met around here. ❞

Mathias put his hand out to the man, “I’ll look forward to that. My name is Mathias, by the way, what’s yours? I assume you’re a vampire too, just based off the blood”. 

          Marius couldn’t understand why someone would want to spend their time practicing summoning - black magic was something he never wanted to mess with. Too many unforeseen and unfortunate consequences. He tilted his head at Mathias’ words and the corner of his mouth curled up at the offer of the other’s hand. He reached out to shake it firmly before letting it go. ❝ Pleasure to meet you, Mathias. I’m Marius. ❞ He paused. ❝ Indeed, I am. That a problem? ❞

For their first date, their first official date, Rhys had made a list of possible outings ranging from a romantic candle light dinner to simply watching movies on his couch, Desmond snoozing between them. They all sounded enjoyable to him but a smile curled at the corner of his lips as he settled on one. It was a little nontraditional but it’d be a lot more fun than waiting on a reservation at a restaurant.

Rhys couldn’t help the excited grin on his face as he and Marius made their way into the mini golf course, the werewolf handing the vampire a red golf ball and a putter as he grabbed a pink one for himself. ❝ You ready to get destroyed in mini golf? ❞

          Marius was convinced that whatever they ended up doing tonight, he would have a good time. He always enjoyed his time in Rhys’ company; they fit so well together, and it never got awkward. Marius was an introvert, so he didn’t get out that often, but Rhys liked to bring him out of his comfort zone a little. They had the best adventures together, and Mar was sure this night would be the same. 

          When Rhys told him they were going mini-putting, a smile lit his face; he’d never been before, though kept this fact to himself for now. He knew the basic idea of golf, and it looked like a simpler, mini version of such. Marius took his ball and putter from the other and made his way to the first area. ❝ Who says you’re gonna beat me? I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, ❞ he teased in return.
