Fun fact: a character doesnât have to be a good person to be a good character.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!
A CHARACTER DOESNâT HAVE TO BE A GOOD PERSON TO BE A GOOD CHARACTER!
ALL BOOKS ARE FOR EVERYONE

Colin Firth is a good Darcy because he looks like heâs on the verge of throwing up and immediately sprinting away whenever heâs in a social situation and Matthew Macfayden is a good Darcy because he looks like heâs about cry or pass out whenever heâs in a social situation.
Both are valid. The important thing is that heâs terrified at all times until the third act, so to speak.

I firmly believe that thereâs a ârightâ time to read a certain book. Itâs okay if youâre interested in a book and it sits on your shelf for years. Maybe it didnât call out to you when you wanted something to read because it was waiting for the right time to mean the most to you. Not saying this is always the case, but this has happened enough to recognize the magic.
Discworld books are a bit like Ghibli movies in that they make me want to be a better person, but in a very different way. Ghibli movies make me want to start an herb garden and learn to paint and go have an adventure. Discworld books make me want to FIGHT. Discworld makes me want to stand up when the injustices of the world have knocked me down, makes me believe that my voice and my power matter, because they are MINE, and I have to use them to change the world for the better. I have to look at these terrible things in life and fight back against them with all I have, because that is my responsibility as a human being. You have to try! You canât give in to hopelessness! And maybe you wonât succeed, but the bit you do still matters! You have to create good where there is none! You have a duty to the world!
