i've faced a lot over my life about weird special interests. a lot of cruelty. but by far the funniest thing someone has ever said to me about something i liked was "why would you make slop your special interest, be normal and like fortnite"

What makes you so interested in content farms and do you agree with them morally?
i've always held the belief that as long as it was human made, all "bad" art has the right to exist. it all started with 5 minute crafts, where i laughed at the bad hacks alone in vcs.
then elsagate happened. elsagate held my interest so fiercely. these beloved disney characters being pumped out at high speeds in bizarre, disturbing situations. all to milk ad revenue out of kids. this eventually faded around high school.. only to be revitalized as the digital circus dropped and a brand new boom of activity arose
it's the idea of.. well i used to call these farms "anti-art". art made by human hands? yes. serves a deeper purpose and expresses the creator to the viewer? FUCK NO, that shit was terrible
it's a capitalist symptom at it's core. these could not exist if not for the capitalistic tendrils creeping into what used to be a platform for you. but now can you even trust a silly cartoon on there for your child to watch?
do i agree with them morally? no, not at all. these channels capitalize on trends popular with children to sway them towards buying merch or just funnelling ad dollars in.
i've previously helped someone form an argument to their parents to not let their toddler sibling watch lankybox. i've explained to many people why these channels are not good for "ipad kids"'s mental development. it exploits their natural curiousity of what trusted adults establish as "taboo" or "too young to know about", like pregnancy or falling in love or many other things.
in a perfect world, there would be no pomni jax pregnancy love story videos on youtube kids.
