Pressing his palms into his eyes, Rabbit let out a loud yawn. He was hunched over the front desk at The Next Page, reading Dune for the first time. So many novels had come out while he’d been living in the wild. It was still a struggle for him to try and catch up on the good stuff. He leaned his head against his right hand, ideally flipping the page with the other one. The shop was extremely quite this afternoon. Aside from the pitter patter of his little black cat, Marlow, there was barely a sound. That is until Marlow jumped up beside Rabbit on the counter. She walked around him and pushed over his unfinished cup of coffee. Which hit the ground before Rabbit could blink. He hissed out a curse and shooed her away from the split drink as quickly as possible.
Of course, at that moment, the front door opened and the bell dinged that was attached to it. That was just his luck, wasn’t it? Only customer of the day it was right when he had a mess to clean up. “Great fucking timing Marlow.” Rabbit whispered as his cat walked off looking rather proud of herself. He glanced over the counter. “Hey, gotta give me minute here. Goddamn cat’s a menace.” He admitted as before bending back to down to clean up the coffee with paper towel. Rabbit needed a smoke. Badly. But he pushed the feeling back and stood up to once again address his customer. “You need help with something or...?”

Born and raised in Crystal Grove, Rabbit lived a fairly normal childhood. His mother was well known for being the Pack Alpha’s right hand woman at the time and his father was on the Omega counsel. They were a strong family and the Gunner name used to have some weight to it. A lot more than it does now. Rabbit is the youngest of three brothers. He lived in the South district and had no problems until he turned about ten years old. His two older brothers, the twins, both found out they were Omega’s in the same week. His mother and father were not happy having two of their three sons turn out to be Omegas. They wanted an Alpha child who could take his mothers place when she passed on. The pressure to be that son for them started to ramp up as Rabbit’s mother became increasingly desperate.
The thought of not having someone to take her place drove Rabbit’s mother to try and force him into being an Alpha. He was told that he would be an alpha. That he had to be. He put on a workout routine, diet, and only educated at home about how to be a good Alpha. It was drilled into his mind that the only status he could possibly be was Alpha. Nothing else was good enough. Nothing else would do. He wanted so badly to make his parents happy and proud of him. They had given him this amazing life and so the least he could do was pay them back by fulfilling their dream of having an Alpha son. When Rabbit turned fifteen he presented as an Omega just like his brothers. It was extremely confusing as Rabbit felt like he was supposed to be an Alpha. After all, his mother had been telling him for five years that he was going to be an Alpha. Rabbit was gutted and his parents were disappointed. From one day to the next, Rabbit went from being the light of his mothers life to the bane of her existence. She started to lose her grip on reality at that point. Her grief over having no one to take her place, and disappointment towards Rabbit came out in Physical abuse.
At seventeen Rabbit shifted into his wolf form and ran off into the woods around Crystal Grove. He lived on his own for a long time and, after a while, found a pack of wolves to join up with. He learnt how to hunt with them. Run with them. Live as a truly wild animal. That was probably the happiest Rabbit has ever been. Away from the pressures of the world and in nature. Yes, his heats were painful. He often hid up in trees or deep in a crave when they came but he managed on his own for the most part. Rabbit found a deep resentment for his heats and any behavior that might be associated with being an omega. His mother had always told him that those things would make him weak and to reject them. Her words stayed with him. They still do to this day. As much as Rabbit wants to forget, he wants to move on, he was told that side of himself was bad.
When news broke that Rabbit’s mother had passed away and his father planned on moving away, Rabbit came back to Crystal Grove. He finally crawled out of the woods for his mothers funeral. Her home, money and assets were divided between the three boys as well as Rabbit’s father. With that money, Rabbit bought himself an apartment downtown and tried to integrate back into the world of people. He is still very much struggling with all of that. Because of his time out in the wild, Rabbit easily gets overwhelmed. Crowds and loud noises can be over stimulating for him. When behaviours that one might say are more Omega slip through Rabbit’s highly guarded mind, he often experiences anxiety attacks. He doesn’t exactly know when they started but he knows he doesn't have control over them. If he’s honest with himself, he wants to be alright with himself but he is scared that if he does that an Alpha will try to take control of his life. He is scared of losing his independence. Rabbit tries very hard to keep control over everything, which is why he bought The Next Page, and lives just above it. He tries to make sure that he never feels like he needs anyone. He doesn’t want to rely on people like he did with his mother. In truth, Rabbit is afraid he will disappoint them again because of who he is.

Her first few weeks with the O’Shea’s had definitely been more than a little eventful. Echo had, of course, heard rumours about what happened when the main gangs in the city gathered but she hadn’t expected to be a part of such a major disaster so quickly. Not that she was complaining. Nothing kept her on her toes like a ships sinking. On top of that she’d been put in charge of getting Richard off the ship in one piece. Which, she had a managed to do. It had been a team effort but the fact that she was a part of that brought her some pride. It was good to mark her spot as bone breaker here with a good start.
Keep up the momentum.
Echo was doing her best to do just that. She still had a long way to go as far as proving herself went. She knew that. She’d made sure to hit the gym daily and train with others. Echo was getting better with other peoples names, although she still hadn’t met everyone in the hotel. The weeding out of the public did help. It was late in the evening. Her arms were shaky from the sheer amount of boxing she’d done for the last couple of hours. Slowly, she unwrapped the bindings from her hands and took her head phones out of her ears. Tossing the strips of fabric down, Echo picked up her water bottle and drank half it down before holding it out to the person closest to her. “You look like you might pass out.” She offered her water with a nod. “Which would really put a wrench in my plans for the night.”
A reach into her bag, and the offer of an embroidered napkin is handed to them without the stall of reluctance, “Are you…alright?”
Blinking a few times, Echo slowly took the napkin. A confused look crossed her face as the woman looked at her. She sounded rather worried but why? Becoming more aware of her body, Echo felt something rolling down the side of her face and dapped the napkin at it. Pulling back she saw a small amount of blood. “Oh, shit.” She muttered and pressed the napkin to her eyebrow. “I’m fine. Seriously, I was boxing this morning.” She told the stranger before turning to the counter and grabbing her coffee. “Thanks.”
This is a sign and Richie knows it. Big bold neon letters: shit is going down and your paranoia didn’t fuck things up. The image of his brothers taking his sister down is still ingrained in his mind and he feels like nothing can top that until he’s down on his knees, looking up at the line of bodies suspended.
They look like they’re floating.
They look like hell.
Groaning, Richie feels the sharp sting on his side before he sees the blood. The cut’s not too deep, or at least he hopes it isn’t, and so he pushes himself up, trying to look for the first familiar face he sees.
His family. He has to save his family.
The noises around him make it hard to concentrate, but he manages to grab onto the figure in front of him, one who he hopes to God is Jace. “We need to get out of here,” he manages out, trying to find his balance as the waves rock against the sinking ship. “You see anyone else?”

Jace is truly frozen in place. He can’t peel his eyes away from the three corpses, mangled and posed in front of him. The boom, followed by the creaking and groaning of a sinking ship has Jace wondering if this is some horrible hallucination from his withdrawals. It has to be right? There’s no way things could turn this morbid and brutal this quickly.
He’s holding on as tight as he can to whatever solid surface he can find, willing himself to remain upright and the contents of his stomach to stay down. He only snaps back to reality when someone grabs his shoulder and whips him around. Richie. Jace is trying too hard to focus on what his cousin, his boss, is saying to him. Get out. See anyone else. Forcing his eyes to scan the deck he sees an all too familiar face. “Gio.” Jace says in a strained tone, nodding toward the direction of the older man. Still, he’s half convinced he’s hallucinating, sweat dripping from his hairline. He’s incredibly disoriented, but he needs to at least try to keep his shit together, starting to move toward Gio.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Echo. We’ll have to continue this conversation one day. Hopefully not on a boat full of our enemies.” He smiled, nodding in approval at her drink of choice. “Alright, I have to give you that one.” He was ready to go on about shitty drink choices he hears from his bartender when someone latches onto his arm. Gio turns around to see Jace. The boy fresh off a stint in the hospital now being subjected to a sinking ship. “Fuck.” His eyes met Richies. They have to get out of here.
Gio began taking his jacket off. There’s only one way off this boat. “Echo, you’re with Richard. We’re sticking together but if for any reason we get separated you protect him at all costs. Let’s get the fuck off this boat. Jace if you throw up, I swear to god I will let your ass drown. If you see anything that will help you flat go ahead and grab it. Let’s go!” He grabbed onto Jaces arm, as they all began making their way through the crowd. Gios eyes scanning for a way off this ship. If anything they will just have to jump off the side. No one is dying today.

In the second it took Gio to pull his jacket off, Echo grabbed out her knife and cut a line up one side so she could move more freely. Thankfully, the man doesn’t panic. He seems about the right amount stressed but isn’t losing his head. Which is something that Echo can seriously respect considering everyone else was a screaming, flailing, mess at the moment. She stuck the blade between her teeth and pulled out her gun before getting her orders. “Yes, sir, heard.” Echo called back before jutting out from the bar and making her way towards Richie. He was bleeding but not in a life threatening way.
Shoving her knife into his hands, Echo grabbed him with on arm in a tight hold. “Richard, sir, I’m going to get you out of here. Gio will worry about your family, they are in good hands.” She promised before grabbing his head and pushing it down as someone shot at the mob boss. Echo raised her own gun and shot the man before turning her attention back to Richard. “Lets go.” She pushed forward throw the crowd of screaming people and towards the end of the middle of the boat. Echo shot out the window while they were still far enough away to not be affected by the glass. Ripping a large piece of fabric off her dress, she draped it over the jagged glass to keep it out of Richie. Leaning against the wall in a half squat, Echo held her arms down for Richie to use as a platform. “You first boss.”
“Exactly, don’t expect one from me unless it’s business related.” She was so touchy. Gio didn’t know how to feel about it. Not many people dared to get that close to him. They knew better. With Echo, he didn’t mind as much. It was an odd question for the moment but Gio was genuinely curious. “Do you ever get PTSD?” He was waiting for the other shoe to drop. “I feel like that would be a frightening place to be. Right now I’m too on edge to make it through this night sober.” He waved the bartender over. What Echo drinks could define her for the rest of her existence. This was a test. “What are you having? Choose carefully. I will judge the shit out of you.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” Echo tossed him a light smile before they started walking up towards the the main hall. She’d always been a very physical person. She had to be to do her job but it also leaked into her personal life. Besides, Gio hardly seemed to mind. Most of his reactions to her reminded Echo of a bashful school boy more than anything. “Thats a loaded question,” She scoffed before leaning back against the bar. “Ask me after a few drinks.” Echo added before raising an eye brow at Gio. She didn’t hesitate for a second. Her order was almost aways the same. “Scott on the rocks.” Echo told the bartender. She was about to look at Gio to gage his approval before a loud bang came form the back of the ship. The whole thing rocked from one side to the other as people screamed. Echo nearly fell but caught herself on the bar and quickly kicked off her heels before another loud crash came as the boat tilted back.
