A sandy brow quirked skyward
in what h a d to be a comical fashion.
Soul apologizing had N O T been
what she was expecting.
Her eyes followed his fingers reaching out
with an obvious skepticism.
The tender pulling of her pigtail was once more
something that took her off her guard.
Really
how was she supposed to stay mad at him
when he was doing things like
apologizing
playing with her hair
She heaved a heavy sigh
and wrapped the strands of hair
around her fingers
as soon as he released them.
The answer was simple of course:
No matter how much they fought
and no matter how much of a jerk
Soul could be,
Maka couldn’t stay mad at him –
It was impossible.
She could try her hardest to hold on to the feeling,
the grudge,
bu more often than not,
when it came to Soul,
her aggression was a lot of pomp and no circumstance.

She dropped her gaze from his,
studying the floor between them
and willing the flush to fade from her cheeks.

It was a safe bet neither of them
wanted to continue t h a t conversation –
There was a small bit of her

the slightest of pouts downturns his lips when her fingers so quickly fill the
space his had previously vacated. there’s an internal mantra scolding himself
for how STUPID that gesture was if he made her uncomfortable in ANY way.
she says she wants to forget about it, but he has to take a moment to gauge
whether or not she means it.

RELIEF brings a slouch to his shoulders for brushing off his concern for her as
concern for their profession partnership. it would do him no credit to let on
just how fond he is of his meister; she’d all but sworn off boys thanks to her idiot
father. he’ll gladly take what he can get by being close to her as her weapon.
“ besides, with how much you worry about school, if you get yourself into
a TIZZY over one more thing you’re likely to burst. “
