Hiccup still keeps calling Toothless “bud”, “buddy” and there are no other intimate names after they confirmed their relationship because that’s simply not part of his character. Meanwhile, Toothless calls him “love” and “dear” and “mate” and “baby” and any other endearments he has just learned.
