Life Drawing Week 5
When I have first drawn a self-portrait of myself, I realised I still have problems with my proportions, so I had to draw again but I had to carefully consider the length against the width, thus personally I think I improved once again with the proportions, the weights (shadows and a bit of highlight), etc.
I looked at every lesson I had, learning and developing more broadly, which helped me a lot as I decided to paint with ink and watercolour for the expression self-portrait.
I only started painting last year and I only painted ~four times, but I believe I captured the essence of my perception of a fragile man (me) who always encounters depression, abled-persons’ low expectations as a disabled man trying to achieve something special, and some rude comments from strangers to me regarding using my powered wheelchair to drive around the suburbs with the various blue which symbolised depression, anxiety, etc, and yet, I left the sternocleidomastoid and a lot of white to symbol hope, that things will change eventually.
Life Drawing Week 4
At first, I drew stiff and robust people, which I think jeopardised my drawing skills to regress as I was in Week 1, thus I had to loosen myself so that I can draw as easier as possible. In the fourth person, I just drew naturally, so when I finished drawing that person, I was proud of myself, thus I tried to copy the natural feelings, but I believe I regressed once again so I’ll have to learn and re-learn many times until it’s natural for me to draw people.
I'm still trying to speed my skills each time I have sessions, thus I believe I'm slowly improving with the speed (now it takes around 3 - 5 minutes), but I still need improvement.
Life Drawing Week 3
I tried to draw like realistic bodies, but I realised I should have drawn it in the directions of the bodies instead of just drawing it in spontaneously, thus next time, I’ll have to research the directions of those bodies so that it’s realistic when it moves. I targeted the shadows and the highlights, and I drew the three objects (a banana, an apple, and an olive green drawing ink) as realistic as possible while trying to draw it as it changed the shadows and the highlights when I walked two metres away from the spare sketchbook and the three objects, hence I think I did a decent job but I still need improvements because I had to erase a few of them which I shouldn't have yet I did it anyway.
Life Drawing Week 2
I think I’m starting to understand the structure of proportions, and the rough sketches (upper bodies, hips, etc) which then, I had to connect those parts so that it flows smoothly, but because of the time limits, I had to draw as quickly as possible while also trying to make the proportions the same, and not distorting.
The only things I regret were the eggs and how the shadows and highlights interact so it looks like it was created in 3D, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the case - I missed up the ‘Lambert value scale’ so that shadows are more visible than the highlights. I’ll have to evaluate the shadows and highlights more carefully and draw it even lighter before I consider drawing in bolder pencils (2B onwards).
Life Drawing Week 1
I realised that I reverted to draw outlines only and the proportions weren’t right, so I’ll have to remember carefully to draw just as Ms. Lillian Dell told me to (draw lightly as shapes and then define it).
I actually liked my drawings for homework (with my father’s permission to draw him) because I started to evaluate and sketch him in lighter or darker tones, and I began to appreciate how hard it really is to draw like a professional

Once again, I had to think about which colours will be the best and which ones do I fade it with less saturation or higher light to highlight the specific features around Trine and her bag. I changed the levels, the hues, the shadows, and etc. But at last, I finished my concept art and I’m really happy
An unfinished concept art. I realized once again that I’d drawn Trine running right to left, not left to right which wasn’t the best way to submit that.
Trine – A young girl
Who?
Trine is a girl who was morphed between an hourglass and a Great Northern Diver was she was born. As a girl, she was always mischievous, tricking other persons to give her something sweet or valuable. She doesn’t care if she destroy something or someone, as long as she gets something that she doesn’t have, she would be happy enough.
Where?
She was born in Greenland, but she was abandoned in a hospital because the mother and father didn’t like that she was special. As they were both birds, they hated the changes so they abandoned her. Thus, the nurses decided to send her to an orphanage home in Greenland.
Description
As mentioned, Trine’s body is small but her head is bigger than usual. Her trait is that she is always mischievous and she lies without any consequences. Fortunately, she will get caught and finally she will understand what she has destroyed everything and everyone just for fun. Because of her being so mischievous, it symbolized it perfectly with main purple (sly, cheeky, anarchy, etc), and yellow (bright, sunny, lively, etc), and a little of blue (sad, despair, loneliness, etc).
I’m actually really proud with what I have done so far. I changed the colours to symbolise the meaning of each colours which are: Main purple (sly, cheeky, anarchy, etc) Yellow (bright, sunny, lively, etc) A little blue (sad, despair, loneliness, etc) Personally, I preferred the first art, but either way. I also should have changed the colour of the psychiatric hospital from dark blue to mid blue, but I didn’t have time unfortunately :/
My first concept art. Deborah did give me feedback, regarding the mag;e , the colours, and the texts. She was right, it was too obvious , so I had to reconsider what I’m supposed to draw.
I thought I was supposed to just draw the environment and that was that. Fortunately, I realised I had to draw the environment AND the character(s). Now I know :3
I LOVED the cute birds! So innocent and pure. I had to consider which would be more dynamic and significant than others. I decided to make the bird’s head way bigger while the body’s is smaller than usual. I wasn’t sure if I can make the bird’s feet like a realistic feet or wheels. At the end, I had to make the bird ‘feet’ with wheels
I actually liked these shapes, but unfortunately, I had to discard my ideas to develop more abstract
I forgot that I wasn’t supposed to draw a human girl. But at the end, I thought I would have been rad if I draw a young girl (who is kinda.... fat because it was drawn in round shapes) and a lawnmower combined into one humanoid girl
Final Character Iterations (I didn’t have time to add more of the final character iterations :/ )
