I’m sorry I’ve been absent. I do miss coming onto this blog, but I’ve just been stressing out over other things. If anyone is still interested in working with me, even though I’ve been gone, then like this for a starter. I’ll post an official starter call sometime later, but this is just one to try to get me back in the mood for Coop.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been on. I'm be been going through some stuff and trying to reboot my main blog on top of if. My motivation to get on Cooper has all but disappeared recently because of some personal things. I'm going to attempt to start getting back on this blog regularly, though. Hopefully the muse will return.

Open to Clints

His dad was supposed to be home that evening, but sometimes he got delayed. As much as it disappointed him, Cooper was used to it. His dad was saving the world. Things didn’t always go according to plan when that was your job. So he did his best to hide his disappointment and managed to talk his mom into half an hour of TV before sitting down to do his homework. Once that was done, he was right back to the couch to catch the second half of a Disney movie. Bed was supposed to come after that.

“Can’t I just stay up until dad gets home? He did say he’d be back tonight.” Just saying he’d be back didn’t mean he would, and he was already a few hours late, so there was no guarantee he’d actually be back that night. But somehow Cooper managed to convince his mother to let him stay in the living room for a while longer.

He was dozing slumped against one arm of the couch, the TV still on and the volume so low it was almost silent, by the time the door opened. The sound of footsteps brought him out of his light nap and caused him to turn to get a better look at the foyer. Instantly wide awake, he jumped up and ran over to throw his arms around his father and bury his face in his chest.

“Dad! You’re late.”

Starter call

"You an alien?" (cooperbxrton)

Bruce laughed and shook his head at Cooper’s question “Do you think I’m an alien?”

Bruce smiled softly as Cooper spoke. He could hear the hesitance in his voice, and nearly laughed at the idea on his being anything like a book creature. “Sounds like I should read some of the books that you read.” He shrugged “I might like those sort of books. But… nope… never been to another planet. Never even been to the moon” Bruce teased. 

“I’m guessing you figured out why they call me the Hulk, haven’t you?” He asked still trying to figure out how to handle this. It was odd having an open secret. He didn’t want to frighten Cooper, but he also didn’t want to paint the Hulk as some giant green teddy bear no one needed to be afraid of.

Cooper was silent for a long moment, just studying Bruce’s face and trying to determine if he was being genuine or not. There was some part of him that had almost hoped the doctor was an alien. It would have been so cool to be able to ask what other planets were like. But from what he could tell, he wasn’t being lied to. Bruce was just a human who could do something weird. That was cool, too, but not quite as cool as aliens.

“Yeah… I saw you on the news. And there are action figures, too, but there’s not one of you. Well, there is, but I mean… Like dad and Aunt Nat and everyone else, I know who they are. So it’s just you and the Hulk. How d’you do it?” That was something that he was very curious about as well. If he wasn’t an alien, what was the Hulk? How could he turn into it? The transformation wasn’t something he’d seen, so he couldn’t begin to understand how something as big as the Hulk could be so… average as Dr. Banner.

“I am.” 

Jemma could see the suspicion in his eyes, and gave him a small smile, hoping to reassure him as best she could as she stood in the doorway, not yet entering the room. 

“Or I am on occasion. But for the most part, I’m a biochemist. I’m just a medical doctor when I’m needed. You can call me Simmons, if you’d like.”

The suspicion faded, but not by much. Cooper still watched her closely and didn’t return her smile. He had been told he could trust her but that didn’t mean he would. Not right off the bat, at least. 

“What’s a biochemist? Do you do experiments on people?”

Just realized I never updated Cooper’s about from the basics I put up when I made this blog. Whoops. Fixed it.

Clint Barton being a dad, though. Clint coming home between SHIELD missions and immediately taking over diaper duty because Laura deserves a break, she did it the entire time he was gone.

Clint knowing all about My Little Pony because he watches it with his kids. Clint needing to bite his tongue when someone at SHIELD tries to make a MLP joke because HER NAME IS APPLEJACK AND YOU GOT THE ACCENT ALL WRONG YOU LOSER.

Clint cutting grilled cheese sandwiches into tiny triangles because duh dad, they taste better this way.

The kids know that if they ask, Dad will build them LITERALLY ANYTHING. But he will always check with mom first which is why they don’t have a pumpkin cannon for their treehouse yet.

Clint going to every single school event, sports game or lesson while he’s at home.

Clint has years of experience with carpooling, which made flying the Avengers around in the quinjet a piece of cake. (He never has to scold anyone for getting gum in their hair. Not that that hasn’t happened, but they’re grownups and they can just deal with that themselves.)

Clint singing the kids to sleep. Clint telling bedtime stories that are really ‘have I told you about the time Iron Man tried to put rollerskates on his suit?’

Clint being annoyed because Natasha is way better at dad-jokes than him.

Clint has only once used his Dad Voice during a SHIELD mission. It got three first-timers to stop freaking out and get out alive.

Clint’s only allowed to take the kids clothes shopping if he promises that they will come back with at least one item that isn’t 1) purple or 2) brown plaid.

Clint’s kids have all the Avengers Action Figures. It was probably Fury’s fault. Aunt Nat is their favourite action figure and she gets the best adventures.

Clint telling the kids to eat their vegetables because Aunt Nat and Captain America eat their vegetables, don’t you want to be an Avenger?

The sun had long set by the time they arrived at the Barton farm, Laura had apologised that the kids were in bed but neither Maximoff twin had expected them to be up. After a brief conversation, they had been shown to their room and his sister had just flopped onto a bed and fallen asleep. Pietro, however, rarely slept unless he had run himself ragged - and being on the road to recovery (practically tethered to a hospital bed) meant he hadn’t had the chance for that. Naps were about as much as he could do. So he had wandered around outside for most of the night, only sinking into a chair at the kitchen table to play with his shiny new phone (with shit reception in the middle of nowhere) half an hour before the Barton family started waking up. 

He watched the kid in his peripheral vision and was actually expecting the question a lot sooner than it arrived. He blinked twice and looked over the top of his phone, practically mirroring the boy’s expression. Barton senior had given the names of his children the night previous, but Pietro only remembered the name of the baby, for obvious reasons. “Pietro. Who are you?”

Pietro. The sound of that name caused a confused look to settle over Cooper’s features; his brows knitted together and a slight frown on his lips. “That’s my brother’s name,” he announced. “Well, his middle name.” It was still early and Cooper’s thoughts were still hazy from sleep, so there was a minute of confusion before he remembered why his little brother had been given that middle name. “You work with my dad, don’t you?”

Before answering Pietro’s question, Cooper shoveled a spoonful of sugary cereal into his mouth and chewed while watching the man. “M’Cooper,” managed it out before another spoonful of cereal and obnoxiously colored marshmallows was lifted to his mouth.

"Aye, Tiny Hawk, what's that you got there?"

“Pokémon. Dad got me Alpha Sapphire for my birthday. I’m doing the Nuzlocke challenge. Have you ever played Pokémon, Uncle Barney?”

                                                                                            “Eh, not really.”

                    Barney rested his arm on the back of the couch and leaned in towards his nephew in order to get a better view of the screen. He was actually watching the screen and listening to what Cooper had to say about the game.

                    “Well that’s some bullsh–, er, crap, innit? If I only got one chance to catch something with me wanderin’ around in some forest I sure as hell wouldn’t take the first… thing that I saw.”

“It’s just the rules. If you wanna catch whatever you want, you don’t play the challenge. But I’ve beaten Pokémon games before, so I wanted to do something different.”

Cooper pulled up his team to show Barney. Each of the Pokémon were nicknamed, but he selected each of them to show his uncle what they looked like. “This was my starter, Torchic. I like starting with fire types. And I’ve got two Zigzagoon; Finn and Jake. I was hoping to get something else, but Zigzagoon was what I ran into first in two areas. Fiona’s a Wurmple. I don’t really like bug types, but I’m stuck with her.”
