I feel like we need more Hansry Robin Hood content? Hans would be obsessed with Robin Hood, especially the versions where he's a nobleman. He'd hear about Henry stealing Sigismunds sausages and feeding the poor and being like "wow, he's just like the hero from the English Ballads". There's a real gap in the market, here.

Anyway, be on the look out for chapter 5 of "forging trust" I guess!

(And yes it's doubtful he'd have heard of Robin Hood in the historical context but they bend the rules all the time shhh)

I'll tell you a tale.

During my whole playing of KCD 1 and then a bit into kcd 2 I was doing a UNI module literally called "Medieval heritage and love" all about Medieval literature and the way the idealised version of love has changed. Can you imagine what a fucking mindfuck it was when you're reading academic papers about Medieval pining and then turn your head to play the 15th century yaoi sim?

The fandom has designated Hans as The Yapper™️.

He suits it well and I love all the fanfics and the fanart. The thought of Hans spilling the beans to the first friend he’s ever had. Hans who makes a lot of noise about nobility and expectations, says one thing but means another. Hans who confesses to Henry through the medium of extravagant poetry. I get it.

But there’s just something so appealing to me about Henry being The Yapper™️.

I want that Henry who tells such bare-faced fibs that you start to doubt it yourself. Who Gatekeep, Gaslight, Girlbosses his way through a dozen situations with barely a second to think. A terrifying man who can get away with murder, splattered with the blood of his victims. Every single [Lie] where he pulls a whole persona from his arse. Oh yeah, you just missed those knights from the pond. My name is Pavel. I’ve never stepped foot outside the boundaries of this hut.

I want that Henry who barely shuts up. Henry who talks to animals, the player and himself endlessly. Who learns to communicate with Cumans, vengeful and rat-arsed. A doe-eyed, silver-tongued nobody from Skalitz, who negotiates with beggars and burgraves alike.

I want that Henry who is told repeatedly that he needs to hold his tongue, to watch his tone, to act with respect. And he fails at it over and over. Lectured and admonished. Until he realises that Hans secretly enjoys it. That Hans is intrigued by it. Respects him more when he breaks the rules.

I want that Henry who is surprisingly forthcoming with how much he cares for Hans so early into the games. Who spills his life story to every NPC. Let me tell you about my lord, the great and honourable Lord of Rattay, I am on a quest for him, with him, his right hand man. Who heaps onto him with care and praise. A literal love language of admiration and praise, ridicule and irreverence.

I about care you, maybe more than you know.

But as Hans says, “Goes without saying, right?”
