Got Lucky
The coughing was what told him that she was awake, his vision still a little hazy from the smoke and the fire. Vaguely, he recalled carrying her while wrapping himself around his sibling to protect her as much as he could. Fingers sunk into her hair, pushing it gently from her face as she struggled to find her voice. “Hey. I think we’re alive.” He quipped deadpan, though very pleased to see her awake. “You made me miss half of this weekend thing at Scott’s Lakehouse, you know.” Again the deadpan, hoping to distract Cora with their constant teasing and humor. Maybe he would even get a laugh. Smoke still poured out of the building Kate set on fire, though from here he couldn’t tell if it was out and just smoldering or continuing to burn. “We shouls get out of here…” a movement to rise failed him and he hissed, sitting onxe more. ’…in a minute.’
Cora blinked rapidly, looking up at her brother through the dim lighting. She couldn't remember how they got there, or why everything was so blurry. All the alpha could recall was fire, and pain. Her head throbbed, and her hands felt like jelly. Cora just felt sore. "How did we get here?" She breathed, nothing seemed to make sense. Cora couldn't recall why she was hurting or how she ended up in this car with her brother. "Did I call you or something? Where are we?" The alpha squeezed her eyes shut, listening to his words. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean too...where are we going?"
