my advice for women who want confidence to be publically gnc is if doing it because you love yourself isn't enough motivation then do it because you love other women. wear comfortable clothing for your friends who obsess over their outfits. leave your legs hairy for the little girls that will see you in the grocery store. go barefaced for your coworkers who feel they need to wear makeup to be professional. by rejecting feminity you are relaxing the pressure on the women around you to conform and breaking the illusion that femininity is natural. resistance to patriarchy is an act of love

can you imagine being at the first performance of a Handel oratorio... the first notes on the harpsichord, and then BAM! The full chorus! The brass! The strings! The melismas! Your powdered wig is in the rafters! They have to give you quicksilver to calm you down. Two weeks later, you're dead of mercury poisoning
