CSW
When walking around the ballroom I came across many interesting genres, but not many that I personally thought would be worth researching. When I was close to returning back to my table I decided to give it one more shot and look again. This time through I came across I man that had a poster set up at the end of the table in the back right of the ballroom. Some of you may have also came across this same poster as it was very interesting. His poster board is what drew me in because it had the big Facebook thumbs up on it as well as the classic blue text from the site Facebook. When reading the poster I figured out that he would trying to research whether or not Facebook affects people’s buying habits.
I thought that this was a great idea, unlike and different from many other projects in the room. The way that his stand worked was to read the poster and then he had a large stack of survey’s in which he was passing out and then would take back when they had completed it. The survey consisted about 10 questions. Each question has a 2 sections. First you must agree or disagree with the question. For example, one of the questions was “do you buy things that you see other’s post on Facebook, if so how often?” So in this situation you would agree and then select a number 1-5 to represent about how often on a weekly basis you do so.
This was my favorite poster because it was so different from all the others. With this poster you get a sense of presentation and interaction and it keeps you interested. I could tell that the man who made the poster and surveys put much thought and time into it, as well was very open to an audience and was polite. Once you completed the short survey he could then conclude in you are strong, moderate, or not very effected by Facebook when purchasing new items. I myself was determined to be a moderate buyer in which I do sometimes buy things I see on Facebook. I assume the reasoning for collecting the survey’s back is for him to tally them up and determine as a whole whether or not people are greatly, moderately, and not very effected by Facebook while purchasing items. Had never seen this poster I would have never given this idea a thought because as obvious as it is I never saw the connection between social networking sites and our buying habits. I thought that he presented himself very well, his poster was simple and straight to the point, and his survey was very well thought-out and organized.
