I reblog this every time it comes up on my dashboard, not because it is a “rule” but because every time I see it the love and sincerity on her face hit me all over again and I think everyone deserves to see that.
And THIS is why I adore Catherine Tate. She’s loud and brash but in quieter moments… her soul comes shining through and it makes everything about her so much more beautiful.
Alright guys I think that this is probably the best news I have heard all day. People always say that you need to eat healthy before a test, so this is almost mind boggling. I'm sure that their not saying that you can just bing eat chocolate but its just interesting because everybody thinks of chocolate as so unhealthy. I know that there are extreme diets that involve eating a ton of chocolate, and dark chocolate is full of antioxidants. Point is this is the best thing I have ever heard.
CSW Memo
The Celebration of Student Writing was a very hectic event. Going into it I knew that is was going to be rather hectic but I had not realized to what extent. I had just been relying on what my friends had told me. The whole experience of the event was very interesting and hectic.
During the event people were swarming the most interactive and colorful displays. Walking itself was a challenge let alone getting a person to tell you about what their class did. At the end on the same row as our class, Clair Sansburn’s class had a very popular display. My friend Lawrence is in that class I called him over to ask a few questions so that I could understand what was going on with their display.
The classes theme was cultures, everyone wrote about what cultures they were in and how it has affected them. One girl, Rachel, talked about how she was in a sorority, and the way it effects her. The class wrote papers on their individual cultures.
Everyone also found out different facts about other cultures, that were not their own. For example Laurence found out that one culture believed in living after death. He said that he was very happy with this theme because it helped add perspective to the way you looked at people and it changed the way some people looked at different cultures.
This was a very interesting display, and the CSW as a whole was very spectacular. It was a good way to showcase the different things that everyone learned over the course of the semester. I found the event very entertaining and interesting and I am glad I got to participate in it.
So we all know how important water is for us, and we all know how important it is to eat our fruits and vegetables well eating the right one can kind of kill two birds with one stone. I also think its funny cause may favorite fruits are on here. During the summer everyone love fruits and kit is no surprise why.
Also I recently heard that watermelon juice is what your supposed to drink after a work out. The vitamins in it are supposed to be good with cramping, and with the water content so high.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE.
Alright so this just kind of blew my mind. These are all just some really cool facts that I think a lot of people do not know. For example the one about fruit loops when I was a kid I used to eat the colors one at a time to try and figure out what the different flavors were. People seem to get these different ideas about food, weather its based on the color or packaging or whatever. For instance back to the fruit loop thing, just because their are different colors doesn't mean that they are a different flavor. Any way this is a really cool article, nothing grows or anything, just interesting.
For all you vegetarians and vegans out there! There are plenty of plant-based sources of protein, and they are super good for you! 🌱 I highly recommend quinoa- that is a staple in my diet and has a vast amount of other benefits (I’ll make a post about this in the near future if you guys are interested in it!)
I found this article very informative because it shows how we can get protein from a variety of sources contrary to many beliefs. In fact some of these alternatives are better than meat as they posses less fat than certain cuts of meat as well as are less expensive. Like I have said many times people in America need to be better educated on the food they eat so we all can live healthier and happier lives.
Yeah I think that is very cool. Last summer I went on a diet where one day you could only eat a few certain vegetables and fruits, and each day for two weeks it would vary. Looking at this I realize that everyday had at least one of these in it. Usually it was broccoli or beans, but I know that one day it was kale, the only reason I remember is that was the first time I had kale. Point is this is really cool because I do not think that most people realize how much protein is in non meats.
Last Memo
For my CSW project I am going to be making a card matching game with Emily Beltowski. We will be making the cards on construction paper and decorate them so they are as visually appealing. The plain is to have the answers flipped up and the questions face down. When they flip up a question they have to try and match it with the answer. It is not going to be in the usual matching game format because that would just take to much time and be extremely hard.
The reason that we are working together is because both of us had a focus on the health benefits, for me of organic and non-organic food; for her eating out verses in. This project will not take up to much space either just enough space to spread out 24 cards, but they will probably be a little smaller in size then playing cards.
The intent for this is to tell people about the various health benefits that comes with consuming different types of food. People will be able to learn through playing the game and guessing the different answers that go with the questions. This should be a fun and effective way to convey information.
samantham121 In reply to your link I decided to do further research on how much Americans spend on food. There is suprisingly a ton of information and studies done of this. It seems that America spend the most money per year on food, about 880 billion actaully, but the average american only spends about 6-11% of their income on food. How this is possible is beyond me but individually we spend less on food than any other country in the world. Some countries such as egypt spend almost 45% of their income on food, I can’t even imagine having to do that!
Thanks for finding this first of all! Its awesome, but I kind of think that is a little funny because you are absolutely right. Other countries spend so much more money on food then us. I think that shows a huge reason as to why world hunger is such an issue, if you have to spend the majority of your money on food it is going be so much harder to get by. Thank you again for finding this! It's really nice in how it lays everything out.
After being at diving competitions for 2 weeks this is very relevant to me. Since Im always in the water I never actually know when I feel thirsty because I dont visually sweat. It gets washed off in the water to I never know when Im thirsty or not. And even when I have something to drink I dont feel too thirsty and I end up limiting the amount of liquids I consume. Drinking enough water is difficult because I never know when I need to drink and I always feel like I dont need anymore after Ive consumed a small amount.
I find this so funny because my friends are always complaining about me constantly having to go to the bathroom, and always needing water. I have to have a bottle of water with me wherever I go. Whenever I go anywhere I have to go to the bathroom, and if its a car ride longer then an hour, we are going to make a pit stop. However, even though this is extremely annoying I know that I am the best hydrated out of everyone. I have never gotten really dehydrated unless I was in the middle of a tennis match, and even that was not bad. Point is I can really relate to this.
I went digging for numbers and found far too many. What's the bottom line? Yes, our food is incredibly cheap in historical and global terms, but we spend more of our budgets on it than is often claimed, and we'd have to spend a lot more than that to eat healthy.
Americans are the only country that does not spend the most money on their food. This so amazing to me. I knew that we were a fairly well fed country but it also surprises me how people in other countries have to spend so much more money on food. I feel like food is such a necessity that people should not have to spend the most money on it. I know world hunger is a problem, and I am not saying that there are hungry people in America, but I am surprised.
WASHINGTON -- Patient after patient asked: Is eating organic food, which costs more, really better for me? Unsure, Stanford University doctors dug through reams of research to find out – and concluded there's little evidence that going organic is much healthier, citing only a few differences involving pesticides and antibiotics.
People always say how organic food is so much better for you, but this article calls that into question. A group of medical doctors wanted to see if organic food was really healthier. Thinking that they would find that organic food was better then nonorganic. After a few tests they desided that organic foods do not have any more nutritional value. The vitamin content is the same for both kinds of produce. I think this is so interesting because people always rave about how nonorganic food is so much worse then you.
The organic food industry is growing exponentially from $1 billion in 1990 to $29.22 billion in 2011.
This is almost a tell all that clarifies and exposes some of the truths about organic food. For example just because a kind of meat is labeled organic does not mean that the animal was not mistreated. That does not mean that the fruit is a lie. The fruit can however have some pesticides on it. Also although organic food may not be more nutritious, you will not be digesting chemicals that can harm your health. Considering about half of us are doing something to do with organic food, I thought that this article had the possibility to be helpful to some of us.
I posted this because I actually, don’t get it. Is it saying to east like mostly vegetables.
Yeah this quote is saying that you should eat whatever you want, but to eat mostly plants. He is not saying to become a vegetarian or anything, just saying that you should eat more fruits and vegetables then meat. I actually really like this quote, because it is not forcing any views on you, but almost just pointing out a scientific fact. We should not eat nearly as much meat as we do, and that is what this quote is saying also. However to answer your question, he is just saying that eat whatever you want but try to eat mostly plants, because its better for you.
Stanford University researchers concluded that fruits, vegetables and meat labeled organic were, on average, no more nutritious than their conventional counterparts.
This article is about organic food and wether or not it really has any benefits. In the article they discus that organic fruits and vegetables do not have any real nutritional value that trump that of none organic fruits and vegetables. In the article the scientist satiate that they were assuming that the organic food was gong to be nutritional. They just covered vegetables and fruits, however they said that organic meat was better. That the meat was less likely to be contaminated with bacteria. However the conclusion of this article is that organic fruits and vegetables have no real vitamin health benefit. I find that so interesting because people always rave about how much better organic is for you.
I think this is so funny. Carrots used to be all different colors, including red and blue. They were bred to be orange to help bring more nationalism to the Netherlands. That is the carrot that we know of today. To see this makes me think how we alter produce make look the way we want it to, or what we think is more appealing. Organic food is bringing back the way food was originally supposed to look.
