"Chris, that isn't necessary." Aria protested for a moment, "I could have just stopped by my place." Aria grumbled, Chris, gave her his shirt to wear across to his bedroom, leading her there by her hand. Once Aria was dressed in a pair of distressed jeans, and a plain white t-shirt, she had slipped the high heels on that she had on the night before, tying her hair into a bun at the top of her head, and they were off into the city.

"So what's this twin flame thing?" Chris questioned, his large hand on her thigh as his driver came to a red light, knowing that two of his men, Andy and Tom were behind them in a different car.

"Oh god…" Aria laughed, "Summer was saying that you and I are twin flames. So I guess what it is, one soul is split into two people." Aria found herself playing with the ring on his finger, "Summer had this whole theory, she said that I should have a tarot reading done." Aria let out a little laugh.

"Well let's do it." Chris stated causing Aria to raise a curious eyebrow, "I'm serious, I think it could be interesting."

"She did give me the address of a woman she uses for her readings." Aria pointed out, grabbing her phone from her purse, showing Chris the address to tell his driver, "But what if…" Aria paused.

"What if ?" Chris questioned.

"What if she says that I'm going to die or something?" Aria grumbled, not knowing how she felt about hearing some sort of bad news. "As long as I'm alive, you are the safest woman in this city," Chris vowed to cause Aria's cheek to blush for a moment, resting the side of her head on his shoulder as he gave her thigh a gentle squeeze. As the car pulled up in front of the shop, Chris had opened the door, holding out a hand for Aria to follow as they climbed out of the vehicle, making sure his hand was locked with hers as they approached the small building.

"You sure about this?" Aria questioned.

"I'm sure." Chris kissed the side of her head, holding the door open for her as his men followed a few feet behind.

The small building had a mystical charm to it, with pictures and paintings of the universe, different tarot cards decorating the walls, and an older woman approached, pausing for a moment. Aria did not miss the look the woman gave the couple, causing her to furrow her eyebrows as Chris led her forehead.

"Hi, we are here for a tarot reading." Chris spoke, "I'm Chris, this is my girlfriend Aria." Chris introduced them both, shaking the older woman's hand.

"Gloria." The woman smiled, "Dear, you're nervous." Gloria turned her attention to the dark-haired woman.

"A little bit." Aria confessed, "Just first time jitters." Aria added, "It's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too my dear, please follow me." Gloria walked towards the back, the couple following and stopping at a circular table.

Chris had pulled out the chair for Aria, then took a seat next to her, his hand falling to her thigh as she scoot her chair in a little, giving her a comforting squeeze.

"So, I do not want to know any sort of information before hand." Gloria instructed as she pulled out a beautifully illustrated tarot cards, "I will start with you dear." Gloria spoke looking to Aria, causing her to give the woman a nod.

The woman spoke a prayer, shuffled the cards a few times and then began to pick out cards on a whim. Aria was glued to her seat, her leg bouncing slightly, curious as to what the cards had to say.

Once Gloria was satisfied with the number of cards, she examined them for a moment before speaking, "Oh dear, you've been through it, haven't you?" Gloria gave her a soft smile, "There is a man from your past who had hurt you deeply, but this wasn't by bad luck or anything like that, it was a lesson you were supposed to learn." Gloria explained, "This man, an ex-boyfriend of yours?" Gloria questioned causing Chris to raise an eyebrow and watched as Aria gave a nod, "What you went through was for a reason, to make you stronger, to know your worth, to know what you deserve." Gloria continued, "You have a strong aura about you now, people are drawn to you, especially men, you're a healer."

"They better not be," Chris grumbled, getting a small chuckle out of Aria and Gloria both.

"Your job, you are some type of healer?" Gloria questioned.

"I'm a therapist."

"That makes sense, you are easy to open up to, that is why people are drawn to you." Gloria looked to Aria for a moment before looking back to the cards, "You recently met someone, this was the right path for you to take, it won't be an easy path, but if you believe it's worth it, it will be what is meant for you." Gloria explained and Aria knew exactly what she was talking about when it came to meeting Chris because she had been silently having doubts due to his career path.

"Is there a way to see if we are twin flames?" Chris spoke up, causing Gloria to chuckle.

"Hunny, I don't need cards to tell me the answer to that one." Gloria spoke as she shuffled the cards laying out, "The moment you both walked in here, I felt the intense energy as you pulled up." Gloria stated, "You feel a strong pull to protect her and vise versa, am I right?"

Both Chris and Aria nodded.

"When you meet the other half of your soul, there is the connection, one that can not be explained, when you are away from this person, you feel it, not just physically, but energetically too, it feels like there is something missing inside of you that you can't explain. There is this void. It feels like a dark abyss is trying to swallow you." Gloria explained, "Meeting your twin flame is not a path for the faint-hearted, it's tough, there will be challenges, there will be forces trying to pull you apart, but if you stick together, it leads to a world full of bliss." Gloria spoke, "If you don't mind, I'd like to do a past life reading, I'm being drawn to do so."

"Okay…" Aria gave a nod, Chris completely in awe of what the woman was saying.

"Just as I thought." Gloria spoke after examining the cards laid out, "Chris, you have to think things through not just go off the handle, you were a very powerful man in your past lives, which led to a lot of trouble because you thought no one could touch you." Gloria explained, "You are carrying that into this life. It needs to stop because if you don't have more self-control, you won't get the life you are after." Gloria explained, "There is an outsider, a soulmate if you will, that is willing to step up and had stepped up in previous lives with Aria, because you wouldn't just think."

"So you're saying if I don't learn to have self-control, someone is going to swoop in and steal my girl?" Chris question.

"Pretty much." Gloria spoke, "Aria is a strong woman, but the thought of you being locked up, dead, or anything like that, she won't be able to handle." Gloria continued, "The soulmate will not fill the void completely, but it will be enough for her to finish this life without you."

"Damn." Chris huffed.

"Remember, there are things that we can not always see that try to force twin flames apart, the negatives in the world try to outpower the light connections that are forming. We are meant to raise the vibrations of the earth to a higher frequency than what the negative can do, so the negative tries to stop that, no matter the cost."

"Can you give me some good news?" Chris joked trying to lighten the mood causing Gloria to laugh.

"If you heed these warnings, you will have a long happy life with the other half of your soul." Gloria spoke, her eyes shutting for a moment, "Your father, he passed away?" Gloria spoke.

"Yes." Chris answered.

"He has a few messages for you." Gloria spoke causing the dark-haired man's ears to perk up, "He said to keep a watchful eye on those you think you can trust, not everyone is on your side." Gloria spoke, the man's eyes furrowing, his body going tense for a moment, "He also said to end it. You know what to do."

Chris felt the chills on his back, taking a deep breath, slightly confused but still having a feeling of knowing what his father was speaking about. He just had to do some investigation to make sure that he was thinking the same thing.

"Thank you so much for your time," Aria spoke, knowing that whatever Gloria had said to him had caused him to get spooked. Aria watched as Chris overpaid the woman who tried to protest, "There's no sense in arguing with him, he doesn't take no easily." Aria joked as they stood at the table with Gloria following.

Chris let out a small laugh as he made his way to the door, turning to look behind him to hold the door for Aria, but noticed that Gloria was speaking into her ear lowly, to where he could not hear, causing him to furrow his eyebrows for a moment before she thanked her for her time again, and moved towards Chris.

The sound of the vinyl record playing echoed throughout the living room of the large home. The infamous mobster swayed back and forth with the dark-haired woman, his arms laced around her frame, holding her close to his bare chest. Chris Evans was notorious for a lot of things, mostly due to the family business he grew up around. Being the leader of one of the most recognized organized crime stables in Boston. Chris was a feared man, known for being able to beat a man within an inch of his life and not having a second thought about it.

But here he was, showing the most vulnerable side of him with one person he had never expected to fall madly in love with. Sophia Costello, a woman who was considered his step-sister. When his father passed away when he had just turned sixteen, his mother had ended up re-marrying nearly four years later, letting the loneliness get to her. Chris could understand, his parents were madly in love, and his mother was not used to being alone. He truly felt sorry for the woman because his father had done everything for her, making sure that she did not have to lift a finger if she did not want to.

Frank Costello was a well-known man in the Boston area, having a slew of money, having connections to several different gangs throughout the area. Once Frank and his mother had married, it made the Costello and Evan's gangs even more powerful than before. Chris had met Sophia Costello, Frank's daughter when she had just turned seventeen years old, he had just celebrated turning twenty-one. He had been home for Christmas vacation and had to admit the dark-haired teenager was extremely attractive. Her bright blue eyes almost hypnotizing, her dark hair cascading down her back, and her toned body had curves in all the right places.

Taking long strides to the dance floor, Chris clenched his jaw as he approached, completely ignored as Sophia turned to face the blonde, her hands locking around his neck, watching as the man licked his lips, knowing that he was about to kiss her. Chris had drug Sophia out of the bar and taken her back to the house, claiming the woman as his, three times.

There were times were Sophia would try to find someone to date but Chris would be there to make sure it was stopped, letting her know that she was his and his only.

Now at the age of thirty-five, Chris was able to tell when Sophia was starting to get the itch to explore dating, knowing her for so long, he knew that he would have to have a conversation about where they stood.

Sophia gave a nod, "I am…" Sophia breathed out, stifling back a yawn. "Go up to my room and get some sleep, I don't know how long I'll be." Chris spoke quietly as he continued to stroke her cheek, "If I don't see you before then, I'll see you tonight?" Chris questioned watching as the woman gave him a nod, placing another kiss on her lips and then moving off the woman to grab the shirt she was wearing to slip on. Chris had pulled up his sweatpants and moved to stand up, holding his hand out for her to take, to lead them to the bedroom upstairs, so he could get dressed.

Once they silently reached the bedroom, Sophia wasted no time in climbing into the large bed, Chris disappeared into the closet to get dressed for whatever he had to handle. Once he had fastened his dress pants after tucking in the white button-up shirt, he slipped his shoes on and moved to the safe to grab his gun, tucking it in the back of his pants and moving out of the bedroom to see Sophia sound asleep. A smile appeared on his face as he moved to cover the woman with the dark comforter, leaning down to kiss her temple.

"I love you…" Chris whispered quietly, looking at the woman for a moment before heading out to start his day.

Twin Flame - Chapter 2

"Get in the car." Chris ordered.

"Fuck no." Aria scoffed, moving past the man and tried to walk down the alley towards the street a few yards away.

"Aria." Chris growled, taking a couple long strides to catch up to her, his large hand grabbing ahold of her hand gently, "Stop." Chris spoke, "Please get in the car."

"What was that Chris?" Aria questioned heatedly, "If you don't answer me, I'm not going anywhere." Aria spoke with a low growl.

Chris groaned but gave a small nod, "Can we please talk somewhere that's not here?" Chris questioned, "I'll tell you everything, just not here." Chris stated, "If you want to leave then, I'll have one of my men take you home."

Aria looked skeptical for a moment before she gave a nod, moving past him to avoid his touch as she climbed into the back of the SUV with Chris following.

Chris had decided to take her to his home, promising that if she wanted to leave that he would have someone drive her. The entire ride to his house was eerily silent, he felt like he was dying inside not being able to touch her. It was like torture, and he felt himself growing irritable having her so close but feeling so far away as they walked into his home.

The man had walked into the large living room, Aria following slowly behind him, her eyes looking around to his place, since this is the first time she had been there. He watched as she sat down on the couch, her green eyes glaring at him, waiting for him to speak.

"I uh…I'm a businessman." Chris stated, "Illegal businessman." Chris corrected, "I run one of the most notorious mobs in the city." Aria let out a laugh, shaking her head, "This is so ridiculous." Aria moved to stand up, "Why are you wasting my time with this?" Aria questioned.

Chris had to admit that he found her reaction humorous, "I'm not joking." Chris stated, "My father Frank led the Elite for nearly three decades." Chris explained, watching as his words were starting to sink in, "I took over when he passed away a few years ago."

Aria's face paled for a moment, her head spinning remembering stories of the Elite growing up, quickly showing signs of panic and being scared.

"Baby, I'm not going to hurt you." Chris spoke seeing the demeanor of the woman change, moving slowly to her, "Look at me…" Chris spoke gently, "I'm never going to hurt you, I'm never going to let anyone hurt you. You have my word."

Aria stared into his blue eyes, nodding despite the protests she was hearing in her mind.

Chris cupped her cheek for a moment, his thumb brushing against her skin, "Can I kiss you? I haven't kissed you all night…" Chris nearly whined, watching as the woman blinked at him for a moment.

"Kiss me." Aria spoke quietly, licking her lips as he leaned forwards to capture her lips with his.

Chris found himself slowly feeling hole again as she laced her arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss, his large hands going to her thighs and pulling her towards him to where he could stand up, her legs going around his waist.

"Stay here tonight?" Chris questioned, pulling away for a moment to catch his breath.

Aria gave him a nod, her fingers buried in his hair, her forehead resting against his as he carried her out of the living room, "You know I can walk, right?" Aria questioned lowly causing Chris to chuckle.

"I haven't got to touch you in almost a week." Chris stated as he walked up the stairs in the foyer.

Moving to take her top off, letting the material fall to the floor as she stood in a black laced bra with matching panties.

"Yeah?" Chris answered, "Leave." Chris added looking at Peter who scurried out of the room quickly, slamming the door shut behind him, causing Aria to stir, "Twerp." Chris chuckled lowly, knowing he had unintentionally scared the young man.

"We got a problem." Bucky's voice rang through the phone. Chris groaned silently, "Is it something you can handle yourself?" Chris questioned looking to the sleeping woman, hearing his second in command say that he and Sam could, "Alright, handle it. Call me if you need me." Chris spoke quietly before hanging up the phone. "Gorgeous, come on, I'm taking you away for a bit." Chris decided to kiss Aria's bare shoulder, causing her to stir away. The man's heart fluttered seeing the sleepy smile as she turned on her back to face him.

"Hm?" Aria hummed, cuddling further into the bed.

"I'm taking you away for the day."

Twin Flame - Chapter One

CHAPTER ONE —

It took Aria almost a week to reach out to Chris, with a simple text saying that the phone number was hers and was surprised that the man had called her once he had read it. He had asked her to join him for dinner that evening, finding herself agreeing despite the hundreds of nerves floating around. There was a part of her that was not ready to date after the failed relationship that she spent nearly six years on.

Chris had taken her to a small restaurant on the edge of town. It was a simple but yet charming place and very intimate. He was the perfect date. He would ask her questions about her job as a therapist, how she would juggle her time between the bakery and her clients. Aria thought that she was dreaming. She silently grew nervous when he would never take his eyes off of her, even as the waiter asked for their order.

Two days later, Aria was at the office when Chris had randomly stopped by flowers in hand, whisking her away for lunch, which led to an intense make-out session as his driver stood outside the SUV. Going back to work, her receptionist gave her a knowing look, which caused her to wear a blush on her face most of the day. Chris and Aria had been on cloud nine with each other for nearly three months. The dark-haired woman always mesmerized by what the man had up his sleeve, always pulled towards him as if there were an invisible rope tying them together. It was the best relationship she had ever been a part of.

The dark-haired woman sat at the bar with Wanda and Summer on either side of her, knowing that Chris was away on business, so she agreed to go out with her friends, so she didn't spend too much time sulking over the fact that he wasn't around her. Sipping on her drink, she had been asked a few questions on her relationship with the man and listened to Wanda and Summer while she had checked her phone.

"I'm telling ya, you are twin flames." Summer announced with confidence, "You guys should totally get a tarot reading done!" Summer added excitedly.

Aria furrowed her eyebrows, "What's a twin flame?" Aria questioned looking to Wanda who shrugged her shoulders and then to Summer.

"There's this idea that a twin flame is one soul split into two bodies." Summer began, "There is this undeniable pull between two people, it's basically like the person is the other half of you, there's the happy moments, but there is also the triggering moments, they're your mirror."

Aria furrowed her eyebrows, "I don't know about it…" Aria finished off her drink with a chuckle.

"Girl I am telling you, when you move, he moves, when he moves, you move." Summer stated, "You two literally do not see anyone else in a room if you two are together. The way that man looks at you…" Summer shook her head with a whistle. Aria's face blushed, "Come on, I know this woman who does tarot readings and she's always been creepy accurate, what could it hurt?"

"Fine, send me the address, I'll talk to Chris about it." Aria caved, "You guys wanna go dance?" Aria questioned and scrunched her face a little when Summer squealed almost stumbling off the barstool as Summer and Wanda grabbed her hands to head to the dance floor.

Meanwhile, Chris had finished up with his business sooner than expected. The dark-haired man was heading straight for the bar that Aria was at. He had known that his girl was there due to the text he had received from her, even though he had one of his men watching her, to make sure that no one messed with her or her friends.

When he had arrived, him, Sam and Bucky slipped through the backdoor. The smell of lingering smoke, split alcohol and loud music invaded him. His blue eyes immediately searched for the woman as he was led to a corner table, the area quickly getting cleared for him. His blue eyes scanned the large area around the bar, not seeing the dark-haired woman, so he had decided to pull out his cell phone to see if she had happened to leave.

"Bud…" Chris lifted his head up to see Bucky, "She's dancing." Bucky spoke gesturing his head to the area he was referring to.

Chris focused his eyes, scanning the area, seeing Aria's blonde haired friend Wanda, her redheaded receptionist, and then Aria, all three dancing with men. His blue eyes narrowed seeing the blonde-haired man Aria was dancing against, the man's hands on her stomach as her back was pressed against his chest.

Chris growled.

Getting up from his seat, he made his way towards the dance floor, weaving through the bodies.

His blood began to boil seeing the two, Aria now facing the man, her chest pressed against his, his hands resting near her jean covered ass. He found himself clenching his hand into a fist as he took two long strides to reach them.

"Aria."

Chris watched as she turned her head to look at him, a bright smile appearing on her face and he watched as she let go of the guy and moved towards him, the smell of her perfume instantly comforting him.

"Hey handsome." Aria spoke quietly, a tug of a smile forming on his lips, "God I missed you." Aria confessed, wrapping her arms around his midsection which he gladly welcomed as he cupped the curve of her neck with his left hand.

"Who's your friend?" Chris questioned, his head motioning to the guy who was glaring at him.

"Oh, I don't know." Aria shrugged her shoulders, "We were dancing." Aria saw the jealousy building in Chris's eyes, causing her to smirk a little.

Chris narrowed his eyes at the man for a moment before tearing his eyes away from him to look at the girl in front of him, seeing her bright green eyes looking up at him through her dark lashes and leaned down to capture her lips in a heated kiss.

Pulling away from her, resting his forehead against hers, he spoke, "You're mine. No one touches what's mine."

Aria felt herself swimming, the smell of his cologne, the alcohol, the heated kiss and possessiveness did something to her, and she found herself giving the man a nod in understanding.

"No, you don't get to whisk her away twin flame." Summer reached for Aria's hand tugging her back, away from his hands.

"Twin flame?" Chris questioned to Aria and she let out a small laugh as Summer began to dance around her.

"I'll tell you about it later." Aria replied as she began to dance with Summer and Wanda.

Chris looked confused for a moment before shaking his head, moving towards the woman letting her know where his table was and that if any man touched her, it would not be a good night for anyone. The mobster had finished his third scotch and kept his eyes between his girl and the potential businessman that had arrived, wanting to discuss a possible team to stop an unknown gang from coming into the city, trying to take over the territory.

Chris saw Aria dancing with Wanda, Summer disappearing into the crowd, and he noticed the man that had been dancing with her earlier approach. He narrowed his eyes for a moment, seeing the man grab her shoulder to get her attention. He watched as his lips moved, saying something to Aria and then watched as she shook her head no, turning her attention back to her friend. Chris was out of his seat when the man had grabbed ahold of her arm a little rough, pulling her back towards him, wrapping his arm around her.

"I said no dickhead." Aria tried to push the man away as he began to dance against her, the nice guy long gone later that night.

"You know you liked it." The man slurred, "Grinding your ass against me half the night."

"You're disgusting." Aria cringed, using all of her strength against the man and nearly gasped as his large hand grabbed ahold of her butt, holding her even closer to him.

"Come on pretty, let me show you a good time."

"Get your hands off of her!" Wanda saw the scene as she turned around, trying to help her friend who was struggling against the tall man's hold.

Aria's eyes bugged out of her head seeing a gun at the man's temple, "You have two seconds to get your hands off of her."

The dark-haired woman felt his hands leave her, her body instantly relaxing but turning to see a furious Chris, wondering what the hell he was doing, "Chris…" Aria spoke glued to her spot, the murderous glare on the handsome face.

"If you so much as look at her again…" Chris threatened, "I assume you know who I am?" Chris questioned, watching as it took a moment to register for the drunk and watched as his eyes got huge and his skin paled, "If you so much as touch what is mine, I will make sure you never lay a hand on anything again." Chris stated, "Do you understand me?" Chris questioned watching as the man gave a sloppy nod, "Leave." Chris ordered, watching the man scamper away two seconds later.

"Chris?" Aria questioned confused.

"We are leaving." Chris stated, grabbing ahold of Aria's hand, ignoring the looks from Wanda and Aria, leading her gently out of the bar and into the alley where his SUV was parked.

"What the hell!?" Aria shouted as the cool air hit her face, "What the fuck was that?!" Aria yanked her arm out of his hold.

Twin Flame: Prologue

The air was thick, thunder was hammering in the distance, lightening striking every so often, the heavy downfall sounding like beads as it fell onto the large glass window of the bakery.

Chris Evans sat in the corner of the bakery, his right-hand man, Bucky sitting beside him, his third in command, Sam Wilson across from him. The blue-eyed man was not a part of the conversation the two men were having, instead his focus was across the room.

Chris knew it was wrong. He had been following her for nearly six months, hoping to be able to talk with the woman, but business had always pulled him away just as he was about to work up the courage. The tall man had run into her a few times, some purposely, and others by accident. A large bright smile always on her face, drawing him further in.

He knew that she had owned a portion of the bakery with her friend Wanda, that is where he had first met the dark-haired woman, he swore he was in love with. He had heard through conversation that she had just graduated college and had been interning with a therapist just several blocks uptown.

Chris woke up this morning determined today would be the day that he would speak to her, having enough of the lingering thoughts, lingering looks, he had to make the woman his.

Without saying a word to either of his men, Chris got up from the chair, making his way to where the woman was sitting against the window, reading a book. He noticed the way her dark hair was piled on the top of her head, a few strands hanging loosely around her face, a bare amount of make-up on her face.

Just as he approached the table, he saw a car swerving right towards the window, Chris immediately reacted, reaching for the woman's hand, pulling her out of the seat just as the glass shattered from the impact of the car, hearing the woman wince, Chris pulled her into his chest, quickly turning to wear his back was facing the car and shattering window, blocking the woman from any injury.

He felt the small, framed woman shaking as he moved towards the back of the bakery, her small hands holding onto the material of his t-shirt, "You're okay…" Chris spoke quietly, seeing his men approaching with concern, making sure there was no threat, "You hurt?" Chris questioned as he gently pushed the woman away from him some, seeing that she had a few small cuts on her face.

"I'm…I'm okay…" She breathed out, "Thank…thank you." Chris moved to grab a napkin folding it to dab at the small cuts to make sure none of them needed stitches, "I'm Chris…" Chris decided to introduce himself as he examined her perfect face.

"I'm Aria…"

Chris looked down to Aria's bright green eyes staring up at him through her dark lashes, both of them almost in a trance, getting lost in each other's eyes. "I don't think any of them need stitches." Chris spoke lowly, licking his lips, realizing that his mouth was going dry with her head in his hands.

"Th..thank you." Aria couldn't explain what she was feeling as she looked up to Chris, it was like she had met him before, she knew him without knowing him, "Have we…have we met before?" Aria questioned, noticing the way his hand lingered on her cheek for a moment.

"I don't…I don't think so." Chris answered, noticing that his men were trying to get his attention, knowing that he was being whisked away for business, "Can I take you out to dinner?" Chris questioned and watched as the woman gave a nod, reaching for her cell phone but realizing that it was smashed near the car where a little old woman was being helped out by EMT's.

"My phone…shit." Aria cursed lowly, "Can you write your number down?" Aria questioned as she reached for a napkin and pen from the counter that was close to her, handing it to Chris watching him scribble on the napkin.

"I'll see you soon." Chris promised.

Aria Masterson watched as the gorgeous man was whisked away by his two friends, throwing a look over his shoulder, staring into her soul as he slipped out the backdoor exit.

Come As You Are - Chapter One

Chapter 1 ---

Later that evening Hank Voight and Kevin Atwater were posted up in the Links Club as the Friday night partiers were in full swing. Hank was aware that Hannah had been behind the bar most of the evening until Tyrone had approached her, and then he watched as she disappeared out of the main area and towards the back. Hank had been sipping on his scotch to blend in with the crowd as he sat near the middle of the large tabled area, occasionally glancing around to see if he saw anything out of the ordinary, when music began to play.

Like a river...like a river...

Hank glanced to the stage noticing the lone chair in the center of the stage and nearly choked on his own spit seeing the dark haired woman standing next to the chair with her legs on full display with a long white sleeve button up barely covering her bedazzled bottoms that showed most of her butt, her dark hair fully down in waves and her make-up dark and seductive.

The Sergeant watched as Hannah seductively danced against the chair, glancing around to the area around him, he noticed how all eyes were on her as men cat called and whistled as they threw money onto the stage and he couldn't quite figure out why it did not sit well with him. He watched as Hannah ripped the white long sleeve button up, causing buttons to fly as the song hit the middle chorus which revealed a barely there bedazzled top that hid her nipples but showed her ample breasts. Having to take a deep breath, Hank glanced back around the room and noticed a man standing near the corner with an odd expression on his face, and as the song ended Hank glanced back towards the stage to see Hannah's chest rising and falling from the dance, her lips slightly parted, her cheeks just a little rosy as she blew and kiss and walked off the stage.

The man had watched as a bouncer came to grab the money off of the stage and then disappeared behind the curtain a few moments later. Hank found himself finishing off his scotch rather quickly as Hannah appeared a few moments later in a skin tight two piece white dress that looked to have floral lace on it with white heels. Hank watched as a few men tried to grab at her and she quickly dodged the hands as she made her way towards the bar, and he found himself standing up from his chair and heading in the same direction.

Hannah looked to her left as she was waiting on the bouncer, Mike, to pass her a drink and spotted Hank Voight standing next to her looking straight ahead with his empty glass.

"What are you drinking?" Hannah questioned to the attractive man catching his attention.

"Scotch." Hank answered and watched as Hannah grabbed the empty glass and moved past him and brushed against his side as she squeezed past him and the other customers and headed behind the bar to get a new glass for him and poured herself a glass, "Thank you..." Hank answered as she returned a few moments later with two glasses, "Hann - " Hank began to speak but Hannah had cut him off.

"I go by Rose when there's customers." Hannah spoke quietly and in his ear so others around her did not hear, and noticed that Billy another bouncer was waving at her, "if you'll excuse me..." Hannah spoke with a smile and excused herself.

Hank turned his back to lean against the bar and watched as Hannah approached another male bouncer who was speaking into her ear and introduced her to a man that was standing next to him, the same man that had an odd expression on his face during her dance and it did not sit well with Hank within seconds. He found himself finishing off his scotch and sitting the glass on the counter before making his way towards the three. Call it a cop instinct, so he had played drunk as he slung an arm around Hannah and watched as the bouncer looked confused for a moment, knowing that Hank was there undercover.

"I'd like a private room with the beautiful woman." Hank spoke pretending to be drunk.

"Hey buddy, you can wait your turn." The other customer complained as Hank buried his face into the spot right behind Hannah's ear and whispered trust me.

"It's fine, we have all night." Hannah smiled politely to the man and grabbed ahold of Hank's hand and led him behind the curtain of where Billy was guarding and heard the protests of the other man as the duo disappeared into a private room.

Once they were in the private room, Hank began to apologize, "There's cameras, they go to Tyrone's boss." Hannah explained whispering in Hank's ear and she grabbed ahold of his hand to and led him to a chair. The sound of music was playing through the rooms so the dancers didn't have to worry about adjusting music and she began to dance against him, "What was that about?" Hannah questioned lowly as she ground herself slowly against him.

"That man who was talking to the bouncer, you seen him around here before?" Hank questioned as he kept his hands at his sides, trying to control himself as the attractive woman danced against him. He was able to smell the hint of cranberry from her hair mixed with the smoke from the customers, and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head when she tried to remove the dress but he instantly shook his head, his hands reaching for hers to stop her.

"Don't..." Hank stated. Hannah shrugged her shoulders and continued to dance for a few more moments and Hank continued to speak, "I hate to ask this, but can you find out what you can about that guy?" Hank questioned, "We have no probable cause to bring him in for questioning..."

Hank truly hated to ask Hannah to do such thing, especially after running a background check on her, finding out that she had no priors, no record, not even a speeding ticket. She had lost both of her parents a couple of years ago, attended college due to the news articles about the scholarship she had received when she was in high school. After talking with a few of her co-workers, he realized that she was just trying to save up money to finish her degree since she had taken time off when her parents had passed.

"That's fine..." Hannah answered as the music stopped, indicating the dance was over and she slowly removed herself from Hank's sitting frame, "I'll see what I can find out."

Hank stood up a moment later, watched as Hannah moved to the door, "I will be here the entire time, if you think something is off, you come to me. Understand?" Hank questioned quietly and watched the dark haired woman nod her head in understanding as they both left the room quietly.

The man followed the woman out from behind the curtain and noticed the man waiting for her as he walked past the bouncer and felt an unfamiliar feeling start to boil in his stomach as the man threw money at the bouncer for Hannah and watched as she disappeared back behind the curtain. Hank decided to send a quick text to the rest of the team that were at different locations to see if they had found anything, and then text Atwater about Hannah finding out information from the man she had just taken back in to a private room.

Hank was growing frustrated when he kept glancing towards the curtain hoping to see Hannah appear, but sighed in disappointment each time. Deciding to get up from the table, Hank moved towards the bouncer to find out how long the man requested.

"How long did that man request Hannah for?" Hank questioned watching as he looked to his clipboard.

"An hour."

Hank's stomach dropped. Something did not feel right about this and he could not put his finger on it, which did not help this case one bit. He glanced to clock on the wall to see that it's only been ten minutes. He ran a hand over his face, deciding to just go back there and get her out of the room.

"Come with me." Hank instructed the bouncer, "Your gonna need to say there is some family emergency or something to get her out of the room." Hank instructed and watched the man nod.

Hank approached the door with Billy, watching as the man knocked on the door loudly, and had no response from Hannah and Hank noticed the concern on Billy's face, "Open the door..." Hank instructed, other wise he was going to breakdown the door.

Once the door was unlocked, Hank wasted no time in rushing into the room to see that the dark haired woman was laying on the man who seemed to be holding the woman. Hank's eyes furrowed as he pulled out his gun and moved around the long chair to face the man.

"Rose..." Hank spoke to the woman who did not respond, noticing that she was no longer in her dress, instead in just a pair of panties with her long hair covering her breasts, "Chicago PD..." Hank stated, "let the woman go." Hank ordered and watched as the man flicked his eyes towards him. Hank glanced towards the bouncer and gave him a subtle nod, while Hank decided to put his gun back. He waited a moment before he moved closer, silently signaling for the bouncer to step into action by putting the man in a headlock from where he was sitting.

Hank immediately grabbed the woman, lifting her away from the two as the man began to fight against the hold. Hank spotted the blanket in the corner for decoration and covered the woman quickly as he reached for his cell phone to call Atwater for backup.

A few moments later, Atwater came rushing in and helped assist the bouncer to where he was able to put cuffs on the man, "What did you give her?!" Hank shouted at the man as he laid Hannah down on the floor, and grabbed ahold of his shit and slammed him against the wall demanding answers.

"I didn't...I didn't give her anything!" The man shouted back.

Hank shook his head with disgust as Kevin got his attention to see that Hannah was starting to turn turn extremely pale, "Sarge, she needs to go to the hospital." Hank immediately turned his head to see the woman and rushed to her.

"Take him out the back." Hank ordered, moving to scoop the woman up and made sure that she was covered as he rushed out of the room and towards his SUV that was parked out back.

Several hours later, Hannah groaned as she blinked her eyes open in the unfamiliar room. Her throat extremely dry as she tried sitting up, noticing how sore her stomach was, and winced in pain for a moment.

"Try to not move too much."

That raspy voice sounded so familiar but yet Hannah couldn't quite place who it belonged to as she blinked her eyes open to focus on where the voice was coming from.

Hank Voight.

"What...what happened?" Hannah rasped out.

"You were drugged at the club." Hank answered, "We are waiting to see the security footage from last night." Hank added and watched as the dark haired woman closed her eyes with a groan, "The doctor said everything was fine, had to pump your stomach to get the drugs out, just will feel like a hang over but they are giving you fluids to help." Hank explained, "Is there anything that you can remember from last night?" Hank questioned.

Hannah thought for a moment, "Just that the man wanted a private dance, he poured us both a drink, I only took a few sips and as I started to dance, I felt sick and now I'm here." Hannah explained, "What time is it?" Hannah questioned watching the man look to his watch.

"It's going on 10 in the morning."

"I need to be released, I have class today." Hannah explained, "I can't miss it..." Hannah added, "Please Hank, I need to go."

Hank's heart ached for a moment hearing Hannah's plea and gave a nod. He had removed himself from the hospital room to track down a doctor. A few moments later after he had found the on call doctor, she had went into Hannah's room to go over the information she needed and then signed the release papers. Once the papers were signed, Hannah had found a pair of clothes sitting in the bag that was on the chair, knowing that someone must have dropped them off for her.

"Would you...uh, would you be able to give me a ride to my apartment?" Hannah questioned once she returned from the bathroom after changing and washing her face and piling her hair on the top of her head.

"Yeah, I can do that." Hank nodded as he walked towards the hospital room door once the woman was ready and escorted out of the hospital and towards his suv.

Come As You Are - Prologue

Prologue ---

Four Years Ago --

Hannah Walker stood behind the bar with her book displayed out in front of her as she was waiting for the beer and liquor to be delivered to the strip club that she had currently worked at. The dark haired woman had never in a million years pictured herself as a stripper or bartender at night while she attended college through the day to get her final credits to earn her bachelor's degree. When her parents had passed away almost two years ago, she had put her college life on hold, not having enough credits to graduate with the rest of her class. She could have blamed anyone under the sun for the circumstances that life had thrown at her, but she knew that it would do no good. She took time to grieve the loss of her family, while working at a small coffee shop to make ends meet while she coped with this new life that was thrown at her. 

That is where she met Tamila, who had told her that her boyfriend managed the strip club, and told her that she would be a good fit because of her dark hair, piercing green eyes and curved but slender body. Hannah had laughed off the compliment but when she had went home she had been curious as to how much a dancer could make in a night. 

She had a few bills that she couldn't catch up on due to the cost of college. She had thought about transferring colleges to finish up her credits, but she would have to spend longer finishing out her work if she had decided to transfer and Hannah did not want to chance losing any of her earned credits. 

The next time she had spoke to Tamila, she had sat the spunky redheaded woman down and told her about her situation, wondering if her boyfriend would be willing to work with her and Tamila had agreed to speak to Tyrone. She was surprised that Tamilia had shot a quick text to her boyfriend, and he had agreed to sit down and talk to the woman later that evening. 

Once Hannah had sat down with Tyrone, she was extremely grateful that the man had agreed to hire her as a bartender at first, knowing that the tips would be hers out right, that she would be paid under the table so it would not effect her chances of becoming a teacher once she was able to graduate from college. Hannah had never been more thankful for the understanding and compassion they had shown to her. 

"Girl...you about done with that college shit?" Hannah heard the familiar voice of Tiffany, a dancer who was a lot to handle majority of the time. 

"I have final exams coming up in about a month. Hopefully then I can graduate." Hannah explained as Tiffany plopped herself in a chair, "Need something to drink?" Hannah questioned politely. 

"Nah sweetie, I'm good." Tiffany answered, "Have you seen Brittany anywhere?" Tiffany questioned as she looked to her nails, "She was suppose to meet early to go over a dance routine." 

"No, I haven't seen her." Hannah glanced to the blonde woman and then turned her attention back to the book in front of her. 

At first, when Hannah had started working, there were a few girls that felt extremely threatened according to Tamilia, so they were incredibly catty towards her, but after a while, most of the women had grown to like the dark haired woman. A couple of the women had even taught Hannah how to dance so she could make a little extra cash a couple of nights a week which had helped her catch up on bills, and was now able to live comfortably without worrying. 

"Are you dancing tonight or bartending?" Tiffany questioned. 

"Just bartending." Hannah replied not taking her eyes off the book as she answered, completely missing Tyrone and two unfamiliar faces walking into the bar room. 

"Tiffany. Hannah." Tyrone spoke. 

Hannah still didn't bother taking her eyes off the book as she greeted her friend, "Hey Ty...still waiting on the delivery." Hannah stated as she flipped the page. 

"She's got final exams coming up..." Tyrone's explanation had the woman lifting her head and noticed the older gentleman with silver hair and piercing blue eyes, noticing the police badge displayed on his hip, and then the other man who was African American and rather tall, with the same badge on display, "These men have some questions for you, don't be a hassle Tiffany." Tyrone explained, "I'm gonna go call everyone in..." Tyrone added and Hannah furrowed her eyebrows at the sight of Tyrone's face noticing that something was extremely wrong. 

"I'm Sargent Hank Voight, this is Detective Kevin Atwater..." The older man introduced himself and his co-worker. 

"I'm Hannah..." Hannah spoke gently, looking down to her book to mark the page before shutting it and looking to the Sargent, "Is everything okay?" Hannah questioned. 

"We were wondering when the last time Brittany Lincoln was seen?" Hank questioned as the Detective took Tiffany a few feet away at a table. 

"Uhm..." Hannah thought for a moment, "I wasn't here last night, but I think she was scheduled to work, so the last time I saw her was Wednesday evening." Hannah explained, "Is she okay?" Hannah questioned quietly.

"Unfortunately no. She was murdered last night." 

"Oh my god..." Hannah frowned deeply. 

"Has there been anyone who has shown particular interest in Brittney while she has been here? Has she mentioned anything about a boyfriend, problems she was having with someone?" Hank questioned. 

Hank Voight had been under a lot of stress with three murdered women who had ties to local strip clubs that had shown up across Chicago within the last week. The bodies had been tortured and assaulted, so Voight realized quickly there was a serial killer on the loose and he needed to get ahead of the person doing this. He had split the team to check all three backgrounds of the women, and when he walked into Links Club, he did not expect to see the dark haired woman behind the bar studying. He especially did not expect to stumble over her beauty and the instant pull he had towards her. 

The man noticed that the woman was wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt with her dark hair tied into a messy bun on the top of her head. He had to clear his throat for a moment when Hannah began to speak again. 

"No, I wasn't really that close with her to know details of her personal life. She was sort of private when it came to that stuff, not wanting to mix work with her personal life." Hannah cringed when Tiffany began to sob, feeling like she wasn't close enough with Brittany to have that sort of reaction, "Brittany hung out with Tamila a lot I think and a new girl that just started here, uhm..Candace." Hannah pointed out, "They might know more than I do about any of that." 

Hank gave a nod in understanding, jotting down the names that Hannah had given to him, "Has there been any issues here at work?" Hank questioned. 

"I mean not that I've noticed. Tyrone tries to keep me at the bar as much as he can unless one of the girls doesn't show up, but I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary and no one has really said anything." Hannah explained trying to think back of the past couple of weeks. 

"If you can think of anything else, please, don't hestiate to call." Hank stated, handing her his business card and taking a pen from the bar counter and scribbling down his personal cell phone number on the back. 

Hank wasn't quite sure what had possessed him to write down his personal number, but he had decided to just go with it as he excused himself to speak with Tyrone in his office. 

Hannah looked to the card and slipped the paper into her back pocket. Her mind was replaying every night she had worked, wondering if she had overlooked something. It was hard to tell because the bouncers were extremely good on keeping the women protected from men who had drank too much and got a little too handsy, then she remembered that she had taken the trash out and saw Brittany in an argument with a new bouncer that was around their age. Making her way out from behind the bar, Hannah headed towards Tyrone's office. 

"Look, we have reason to believe that there is a serial killer targeting dancers. We've had three  women's bodies come up within the past week." Hannah frowned at Voight's voice and gently knocked on the door. 

"What is it Hannah?" Tyrone questioned as the woman opened the door a little. 

"I uh...I just remembered I saw Brittany and that new bouncer arguing outside Wednesday night." Hannah explained looking to Voight, "I didn't think anything of it because Brittany gets a little crabby the later it gets, but I just found it odd because he's sort of distant and cold, unlike the other guys." Hannah stated. 

"Can you get me any information you have on file of this guy?" Hank questioned to Tyrone. 

"Yeah, absolutely." Tyrone answered opening his desk drawer, "He is suppose to be at work tonight." Tyrone replied handing Voight the file. 

"Look, we are going to have to people a couple of people undercover here. We have zero leads on what this person's motives are, what their next move is going to be." Hank explained and Tyrone nodded his head in understanding. 

"Whatever you guys need, we are more than willing to help as much as we can." Tyrone stated. 

Hannah stood awkwardly for a moment, realizing the severity of the situation that was happening in Chicago, feeling so badly about the women who lost their lives. What she didn't realize was how much her life would be changing moving forward now that Hank Voight had entered her life.
