The digital edition of the Coroika Winter Zine is officially released! Cozy up with a blanket and hot cocoa as you dive into 76 pages of art and writing by 46 creators.

Coroika Winter Zine: Q&A

We’ll be answering questions left on our interest check here! Check our FAQ on our Carrd or send us an ask if you have any other questions. We will try to respond as soon as possible.

Q: What’s this Winter Coroika Zine all about?

A: Subject-wise, our focus is on Coroika characters in a winter setting. Snowball fights, warm drinks, whatever winter is for you! It’s vague on purpose, we want participants to have fun and interpret the theme however they like.

Goal-wise, we’re all about making a collaborative project that anyone can join. There won’t be a limit on how many people are accepted, and people will not be turned away based on technical skill. It’s a silly project about a silly manga. We want everyone to have fun!

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: Participants should be at least 13 years old. We’ll be using Discord to coordinate with everyone, which requires users in most countries to be at least 13 (as described in their Terms of Service).

Q: Do I have to pay for the zine (I’m participating as an artist/writer)?

A: The PDF version of the zine will be free for everybody. If we make physical copies (and merch?), we will ask people to cover the cost of shipping. Participants should be exempt from this.

Q: When drawing the characters for the zine, would customizing their hair be okay, or are we to strictly abide by the og designs?

A: Design alterations are allowed as long as the character is still recognizable! (Keeping at least 1-2 identifying features)

Q: Are people going to be rejected from the zine?

A: Applications that don’t meet requirements will be rejected from the zine.

For artists, we would like to see at least one Splatoon/Coroika related drawings to show that you can draw Inklings and/or Octolings. For writers, we would like at least one completed piece of writing that is at least 500 words long. All media must be SFW.

i feel like i will get shot for asking this but. when we start submitting or whatever it is to like. participate. if i share examples and stuff and the art is kind of inconsistent is that okay.. i struggle keeping my style consistent like a lot and im a little worried about it being a bad thing for this

Yes, it’s okay! Everyone’s art style is constantly changing, you don’t need to show a single “official” art style to participate. My (Lup’s) art style can change a lot, especially when I’m drawing something new. Don’t worry about inconsistencies in style!
