Haya! ^^ Remember in chap 54 Levi made a deal with the Reeves company? One of Levi's conditions was to provide the SC with any luxurious food and product and as a result, Reeves told Levi "You're a greedy one too". In your opinion, do you think he really is one? Levi's my favorite character which is why I wanna know everyone's take on his personality.

Heya Anon!  Levi is one of my favourite characters too, so I’m always happy to have an excuse to talk about him.  And I’m extra happy to have a chance to talk about this scene because it’s a brilliant example of just how smart Levi is. There’s a tendency to downplay Levi’s intelligence in comparison to Erwin and Hanji, and while he may lack their strategic and technical brilliance, he is very far from dumb and this is a perfect example of his street smarts.  Dimo Reeves is a merchant but he is also a crook, and Levi understands crooks, because after all that’s what he was himself. There’s no doubt that Levi is taking advantage of Reeves for personal gain, we’re talking tea here after all, but I think there’s something much more subtle going on here too.  

This is the third of Levi’s conditions and oddly, it’s the one that seals the deal. By adding a crooked condition Levi is bringing himself down to Reeves level and proving that he too is a crook.  Reeves can relate to that and that’s what convinces him he can trust Levi. Honour among thieves indeed!  

So in answer to your question “is Levi really greedy?”, I would say that when it comes to tea, the answer is indubitably yes, but securing a regular supply of tea and luxury goods is not his main motivation for striking this deal, what Levi really wants, and what he cleverly manages to secure, is Reeves’ loyalty.   That’s how I read this situation anyway, I’d be interested to hear if others have a different take on it.
