Deltarune Chapter 6 is gonna get tragic
Toby said Chapter 5 is one last happy hurrah before things get dark. So, I think it's time for some WILD SPECULATION. To call what I'm about to say "theory" would be... a bit much. So let's indulge ourselves in some tragic speculation.
Most argue that Chapter 6 will be in Noelle's house. I think there's a chance that's Chapter 7, and that Chapter 6 involves the Shelter. But for now, I'm going to talk about what I think will go down in Holiday Manor. It's been suggested that Noelle creates the Dark Fountain to resurrect her father in Holiday Manor. I, for one, like this idea. It will be a great source of conflict between Susie and Noelle.
Ralsei and Susie tell her that "we've got to seal this fountain. The roaring is getting closer" Maybe there's even foreboding earthquakes or something. Just like Flowery, Noelle says "fine, then seal the Castle Town fountain.". At first, the two are civil. A little argument can't come between them. They set the argument aside for a while until they find the shelter code. But once the end draws near, Noelle refuses to budge saying "They're just a bunch of stupid toys anyway. Unlike my dad who is a REAL PERSON."
This schisms the formerly happy couple, as they're each unwilling to budge. Susie has spent the past 3 chapters arguing to Ralsei that Darkners are not worth less than Lightners. A hero like her won't back down even if it alienates someone very special to her. Lancer. Queen. Miss Mizzle. Kawkaw... they matter to her. So, Susie says "Be that way, but Kris is the one with the power to seal fountains, and they're on our side." But Susie is deeply hurt, because she doesn't want to have to oppose Noelle like this.
So it comes to violence. Noelle, Carol and their Darkners vs the Fun Gang. This is not a friendly conflict like Tenna's staff, Queen's city, the Sanctuaries, most of Kings underlings and Flower Kingdom. This is a broken friendship, where both sides feel justifiably betrayed. At some point, something dangerous happens and Ralsei ends up having to stop holding back.
It's here that we learn why Ralsei has been holding back. Ralsei's fire magic affects the Light world. Dangerous, life endangering fire. In controlled situations, like the Dark Sanctuaries where fire is expected, Fire magic doesn't hurt anything. The moment where Ralsei panicked and used Fireshock in Flower Kingdom could have gone bad, but they got lucky. Maybe the air was too humid for the fire to spread. But that's not the case in Chapter 6. Something catches fire in the Holiday manor, and the Ice Palace is set ablaze. Ralsei knew this might happen and urges Kris and Susie to leave before it's too late.
Maybe they save one of the Holidays, maybe they don't. But when Kris and Susie flee, the manor comes crashing down behind them, the one grand display of opulence within their small town reduced to little more than ash. Kris seals the fountain that remains within the smouldering ruins.
If one of the Holidays survives, there's no forgiving the Fun Gang for what they've done. Noelle and Susie might have reconciled if it had resolved any other way... But I wouldn't be surprised if every member of that family perishes in the roaring inferno. Ralsei tried to avoid setting something ablaze until that moment. Maybe, he thought the danger had passed when the Flower Kingdom didn't burn to the ground.
Yet, the inferno happened anyway.
...So, how about you guys? What sorts of awful tragedies await us in the next chapter? My prediction is just for fun, so I doubt most of it has any truth value.
