When I was originally planning to write a story for Gilly, I made some drawings because her art was important to the plot & though it would be fun to make “her style” (so to speak.)

Never ended up writing the story of course, but still have the drawings. They’re pretty cute.

In clockwise order: Gilly herself, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth. I used a combination of the show & book descriptions as preferred.

Bonus: a less stylized drawing I made to work out how Gilly’s hair/hat worked.

Bernie Bouchard ⸻ Survivalist

Full Name – Bernadette Bouchard

Alias(es) :  Bernie Sharkbait (Given by the other Yellowjackets)

Description

Around Wiskayok, Bernie Bouchard was the weird kid. There were jokes about her being raised by wolves or part of a cult, but everyone knew the truth – she’d been raised in the woods by her doomprepper father, only being found when he abandoned her in the woods as a “test” and she ran into some hikers. Bernie would be removed from his care and placed with a foster family in Wiskayok where she would promptly…not change at all. 

Despite her foster parents all but forcing Bernie to join the soccer team, she would still remain isolated and stand-offish. She didn’t want to be there and made that very clear. The other kids didn’t like her, either. She was closest with her fellow Yellowjackets, and even then they only cared about because she was the one skilled freshman (Even though they still tended to just use her as a distraction, hence the nickname Sharkbait.) 

To Bernie’s credit, when the plane crashed, she tried to be a team player. She tried to keep everyone alive. But eventually, frustrated by what she saw as the others not taking the danger seriously, Bernie would take as many supplies as she could carry and disappear. Maybe it was for the best. She managed to survive on her own until rescued and managed to avoid the madness that would befall her teammates.

Louise Matthews ⸻ Her Sister's Keeper

Full Name – Louise Matthews

Alias(es) :  Lou Wheeze/Wheezie (Because it rhymes with Louise)

Description

The last time Louise saw her parents before she boarded Flight 2525, they didn’t say goodbye – they said take care of your sister. Louise wasn’t offended. That was pretty much the story of her life by then. She wasn’t supposed to be on the flight, she wasn’t part of the soccer team and only got a seat because it was her father chartering the plane. Hell, she didn’t even want to be on the flight because, as much as Louise was proud of Lottie’s achievements, soccer bored her to death. But someone needed to keep an eye on Lottie. She might have been Louise’s older sister, but she was also the fragile sister, the one who had something wrong with her. Louise, meanwhile, was the stable one, quiet and always reliable when needed. 

Except Louise didn’t have much of a chance to take care of her sister. She was too busy surviving by the skin of her teeth. From being burnt when the damaged plane exploded (only shielded by the body of another girl she was trying to help) to nearly freezing to death keeping Jackie Taylor company after she was kicked out, Louise had suddenly become a magnet for near-death experiences. Except something kept pulling her through – a life for a life, someone died and Louise Matthews got to live. 

In the wilderness, the Matthews sisters seemed to switch roles. Even as Lottie’s mental health worsened, she would increasingly become a rock for the group. At the same time, Louise began to crack, fractures previously ignored growing under the insane pressure found in the wilderness. Louise couldn’t protect her sister and…at the end of the day, did she even need to? Maybe, just maybe, their parents had been wrong. Maybe Lottie wasn’t sick, maybe she was gifted (and maybe it was right that Louise survived when others died. Maybe their sacrifice was deserved.) 

Hollis Eiken ⸻ Social Climber

Full Name – Hollis Eiken

Description

Hollis Eiken would never have really called her fellow yellowjackets her friends. They consider her their friend, but Hollis never really let them in the way they allowed each other in. Socialization was calculated and methodical, driven by logic instead of emotions.Her parents always told her she was taking it too seriously. She’s a teenager, she should be enjoying high school not treating it like a social experiment. But the truth is that was how Hollis survived. People made little sense to her, but she didn’t want to become a social pariah, so she studied others until she could become perfect for them. Hollis was a social chameleon, changing from group to group and person to person. She was popular in the sense that everyone liked her, if not in the sense that she had a lot of friends (no one ever seemed to actually know anything about her.) 

It is, perhaps, for this reason that Hollis Eiken adapted to the wilderness so well. It was insane. She didn’t believe in mythical forces. She didn’t want to kill anyone and she definitely didn’t want to eat them. Hollis was very aware of how exactly batshit insane everyone else was going – but she also knew what happened to those who pointed that out. Just like high school, she would adapt to whoever held power at the time. Said the right words, did the right things, putting her own opinions and morals aside to get through. The only difference was her life was actually in danger this time.

Only for Brand New Day to confirm that Ned remembers all the time Spiderman saved him, even if he doesn't remember why, which means it would be 100% canon for Mo to remember Spiderman was involved in the deaths of both her parents for apparently no reason.

I don't even have to try at this point. Every day the universe conspires to punch Peter Parker in the face and he isn't even a real person.

I almost said "imagine what Mo thinks about this random stranger constantly showing up at her mom's grave" but then I thought about it and realized she probably wouldn't even know. Mo's chronically avoidant (see: her pretending she hasn't noticed Peter and Ness superheroing around over there) so she probably avoids the entire cemetery like the plague.

OC Questions on the Seven Colours of Medieval Heraldry.

A little list of OC questions based on colour symbolism in Medieval English Heraldry. This is a very simplified version of the subject, which is unlikely to impress any serious Medievalists and is intended more for the purposes of entertainment than education.

Gules (Red) - Military Fortitude and Magnanimity.

Does your OC have any experience in the military? Perhaps they come from a long line of soldiers or army leaders? Or were they conscripted or press-ganged into an army at a young age? If they have not had a formal position in an army, then what is their view of the military mindset and hierarchies they have observed?

Does your OC believe in the concept of a "just war" or do they believe that all conflict is to be deplored? Could they conceive of a justifiable reason for one nation to invade another - perhaps to free an oppressed people or prevent the development of a dangerous technology? Or would they only support a war of defence against an aggressor?

Is your OC usually magnanimous in victory - whether against a defeated foe, or against a friend in a game or competition? Or perhaps they enjoy exulting in their success at the expense of others? Perhaps with ribald mockery or spiteful vengeance?

What has been the most difficult thing your OC has ever had to forgive (assuming they have ever done so)? Did they do this of their own accord? Or only after they felt justice had been done or penitence suitably demonstrated?

Does your OC harbour resentment towards a particular person, group or faction? Or are they perhaps part of a widely resented group themselves?

Azure (Blue) - Loyalty and Truth.

Does your OC have a guiding principle by which they live their life - such as duty, self-restraint or vengeance? Has this ever been tested by circumstance or challenged by another person?

Is your OC loyal to a particular nation, clan or social group? How far would they go in ensuring the safety and success of this faction?

How confident is your OC of the loyalty of their companions, lovers or followers? Do they ever feel tempted to test this through spying upon them? Or by engineering circumstances where their loyalty might be tested?

Is your OC honest about their true loyalties? Or are they happy to feign belief in a cause or leader in hopes of material (or other) reward?

Does your OC believe that people should only believe or take inspiration from something if it is actually true? Or are there circumstances where a motivating lie is to be preferred to an awkward or uncomfortable truth?

Sable (Black) - Constancy and Grief.

Is your OC consistent in their behaviour and responses? Or do others see them as unpredictable or even capricious at times? Are there factors at play dictating their reactions of which others might be unaware?

Has your OC always been fundamentally the same person? Or would someone from their past struggle to recognise the person they have become?

Is your OC comfortable in expressing their grief? Such as by crying at funerals or memorial events? Or do they always keep their emotions intensely private? Or perhaps not express them at all?

Has your OC always feared the loss of the same thing - perhaps a loved one, a valuable artifact or a carefully nurtured reputation? Or do they look back with amusement on what once felt important to them?

Does your OC believe that they will be mourned when they die? Or do they suspect they will be quickly forgotten - or even hope that this will be the case?

Vert (Green) - Hope, Joy and Fidelity.

Does your OC feel comfortable expressing feelings of joy - do they laugh or smile easily? Or do they have a constantly stern or dour countenance? If so is this entirely genuine? Or something they feel they need to maintain for the sake of appearances?

How hopeful is your OC about the future? Do they see things as becoming better in general - either for them personally or the world at large? Or do they feel as if decline and disaster are inevitable and all that can be done is to delay the final end for as long as possible?

What makes your OC laugh (if they laugh at all)? Do they have an intellectual or ironic sense of humour? Or do they prefer ribald jokes or slapstick routines?

Does your OC believe in the importance of fidelity in romantic relationships? Or does it not worry them so long as a lover or spouse never discovers their peccadillos in this regard? Conversely do they worry or obsess over the loyalty of their partner or partners?

If your OC could be granted one wish for the future, but could only wish on behalf of another person, who would they choose? And for what would they wish?

Purpure (Purple) - Majesty, Sovereignty and Justice.

Does your OC find it easy to express deference or homage to someone of high social standing? Or is this something they would only do if it benefitted them directly? Or for the sake of a scheme or intrigue?

Is your OC comfortable in the higher echelons of society, such as aristocratic functions or assemblies of the rich and powerful? Or do they prefer to avoid these events if possible?

Does your OC feel that exchanges of ideas or customs between nations or cultures can be positive? Or do they fear the dilution or devaluing of one culture by another? OC Questions On Friendship and Companionship.

The practice of exchanging bracelets as a sign of friendship began in China between 481 and 221 BCE. Originally these were in the form of knotted cords, as there was a belief that when the knot wore through then a wish would come true. Whether the colours of these bracelets ever held any particular symbolism, or if that is a more recent invention, is open to debate, but in recent years bracelets have certainly been exchanged with colours intended to express particular aspects of a friendship through symbolism.

Rose Gold: Harmony.

Does your OC tend to be the peacemaker or mediator amongst their friends? If so, then what makes them suited for this role? If not then is there another person they rely upon to resolve disputes between them and their companions?

Are there actions or statements which your OC would find insupportable, no matter how close the friend who committed or expressed them?

Is your OC particularly kind to their friends? Do they easily forgive their faults and failings? Or do they consistently hold others to exacting standards, no matter how closely they may be connected?

Is your OC someone that their friends or companions can rely upon in times of difficulty? Are they a pillar of strength for others? Or do they depend upon others to meet their emotional needs, but find themselves unable to reciprocate in turn?

What has been the greatest test of their friendship with a close companion or ally? Did the relationship survive this? If so, then what helped in repairing that connection? If not, then did they let the friendship go without regret?

How strong are the bonds of friendship for your OC? Do their platonic relationships always rank lower in importance than their romantic partnerships or their family loyalties? Or do they have a friend with whom they have forged a bond deeper than blood or romance could ever equal?

Does your OC draw strength from the thought of their friends? Do they sometimes push themselves onwards for the sake of their companions - or in memory of the sacrifices of others - when they would otherwise give up and accept failure? Or do they see themselves as uniquely capable or responsible, regardless of what others may or may not have done?
