these two really don’t see eye to eye and adding sex and/or romance to that equation would definitely make it worse. petra sees communication and having all the information as one of the most important things in a relationship—personal or professional—and liam lying about the job he wanted to pull and playing cowboy and putting them in a situation where she didn't have all the facts really put a strain on their relationship. she likes his upbeat attitude a lot but positivity alone isn’t enough to bridge that gap. and he’s said some really shitty obnoxious stuff to her that makes petra feel like he doesn’t understand or respect her. she knows better than to get involved with him (but in a world where they did it would be a short-lived fling and end explosively badly probably)

eniko/caes

both their hackles would be up So high but they’d be such a power couple if they could get over the Who Is That Other Dog paranoia of it all. a pair of tools who turned against the hand that wielded them, but caes is eager to step into the light while nikö wants to stay in the shadows. they could bring down a dynasty if they wanted to. they’d never even touch each other. they’d have some crazy psychosexual shit going on probably.

theron/riya

lmfao the roulette wheel really went for it. to be honest I think they’d be kinda sweet. theron is the sort of gallant warrior whose company I think riya would enjoy and he has an incredibly strong moral code which I think could be something of a relief given riya’s feelings about the current situation. he’s also Very dalish so I think she might put him on edge a bit at first? but he has a big heart and I think she’d win him over through pure charisma. it would end on a bittersweet note when they both realize their lives are moving in different directions, and they want different things—he’s always going to be dalish at heart and he’ll never be able to keep up with her. but the time they have together will be treasured

marcher4marcher you love to see it. they’re looking for very different things in life but also neither of them is really looking for anything and maybe in that not-looking there could be some kind of discovery or connection. vesper has the kind of patience and generosity that would be good for minah and minah is protective and outgoing in ways that would be good for vesper. it would be a magnificently slow burn but it could end up somewhere good eventually if they were both willing to give it a go.

kol/sora is attack dog/leash holder romance. tool/wielder romance. soldier/general romance. kol would do pretty much anything he asked of her out of a horrible mix of guilt and obligation and recognition of an Authority(TM), whereas he’ll wield her and also be afraid of which way she might cut. this is rendered extra bleak because as kids she was nursing a little proto baby crush on sora that could have been a whole Thing(TM) if kol hadn’t watched sora die right in front of her. kol was literally holding her hand when she died.

minah/iron bull

this would be such a fun dalliance but I think bull is too direct and intense for minah. the bondage stuff would be a pretty hard turn off to begin with and bull’s clarity about the self and truth (despite being a liar) would register as almost pure danger to minah. unless he really did something to cement his trust, in which case she might find some relief in no longer having to pretend in front of him, but she’s also been the mask for so long that it might be just as difficult to be honest. regardless I think they’d have a few fun nights together and happily go their separate ways. (but oh, what nights those could be)

KOL — she hooked up with the warlock leader of another adventuring party in brighthorne during they adventurers' tournament that the historical birds signed up for in a desperate attempt to make some money and gain some renown. it was spontaneous in the sense that kol didn’t set out expecting to have sex but also planned in the sense that as soon as she realized it was on the table she was planning on how to use it to her advantage (getting access to an NPC’s room to search for the paladin’s missing holy symbol, which the other adventuring party might have stolen) (and in fact they did steal it). the sex itself was a positive educational experience but the feelings around it—both using marley and being betrayed by her—soured everything overall. things ended with kol pinning the woman down while the party wizard read her mind to find out what precisely they’d done with max’s holy symbol. (on the other hand, both of them implied if kol was ever in the area they could go for round two so. could still happen!)

MINAH — minah and eilir were waiting for marriage(TM) like proper little andrastians but there was definitely a bit of making out and some shy teenage fumbling before eilir started getting distant. as far as minah’s concerned, her first proper experience was after she joined the orchestra, when she was propositioned by a member of the audience after a show and, buzzing with drink and the high of a good performance and being farther from starkhaven than she’d ever been, said yes. the experience was a bit mixed; the boy was sweet and attentive enough to make sure she got off but afterwards minah couldn’t stop thinking about all her expectations for what her first time would be like and it sent her into a spiral and she only hooked up with women for ages afterwards.

PHILLIPA — phillipa’s first experience was with imogen and was planned—they had to wait for a day when the family would be out, and once they had the date set they were both impatiently waiting for it. it was a good time; there was a lot of giggling and teasing and phillipa thought that watching imogen was almost better than the sex itself

her first time was a fumbling, eager evening spent with a sailor who was in squall’s end (pirate town she ended up in for a few months after she left home) for only a night or two. it was incredibly spontaneous, but at the time bran had a tiny attic bedroom at the inn/tavern where she was working and she hit it off with the stranger who propositioned her, and it was easy to take her upstairs for the night after her shift was over.

bran knew she liked women—she’d figured that out before she ever left home—but she’d never had the chance for anything more than making out behind closed doors. while she had some expectations about what it would be like, she hadn’t really imagined anything specific. the sailor was sweet about her uncertainty and a generous guide, and bran knows she was incredibly lucky to have such a good experience, given the sorts of people one could find in squall’s end who would gladly take advantage of an eager young woman.
