Hi, I wanted to ask you about your process during the creation of that Nokron pencil drawing of yours. The work looks really clean and I was curious how did you plan out and drew the scene? I am especially interested in the buildings because I struggle a lot drawing them. Anything you could share regarding that piece would be appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.

I took plenty of progress pictures along the way. My disclaimers are: this is my second or third time drawing buildings in the past decade so I am far from an expert, and I imagine this would’ve been easier if I’d used a ruler. However, in the UK there are plenty of wonky old buildings, so I guess it’s forgivable! 😆

Here’s the initial rough sketch of the building composition, and then partway through some of the detail. The drawing began as just my character, using a screenshot taken of her from the game. But with her facing away, it made sense to draw what she was overlooking, too. I found the repetition of drawing the tiny features, relaxing. And made sure my pencil was extra sharp for those parts!

Eventually I got sick of having to erase and redraw entire sections of buildings whenever I made a mistake, so I got this 2.3mm eraser, pictured above. I highly recommend this for cleaning up small pencil drawings!

As what I drew reached the foreground of the image again, I leaned into slanting lines for perspective. And because procrastination struck me partway through, I decided to do a quick digital colour mock-up of what I had so far.

And there’s the finished pencil drawing! I heavily outlined some focal points with pencil again (like my character), got better natural lighting for the last photo, and edited the contrast a bit to match more of how it looked in real life.

I’ve been reflecting on what it means emotionally to be objectified, projected onto, and dehumanised for a narrative - and to be consumed by it, whether as victim, villain or idealised. Y’know, just really chill stuff.

In our recent D&D sessions of Campaign Alimore we were teleported to a ball (that turned sour real fast) and the crew got new fancy outfits so I felt like drawing Val a fancy dress. I never do full body drawings so this was a fun challenge. I started by making the dress design up but then found a similar one I liked online to reference, designed by Paolo Sebastian

I would die for her...

I drew 90% of this back in January 2020 when pt.3 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina came out. I found it again recently and decided to finish it up.

Tati Gabrielle is amazing... she plays Prudence with all the badassery and then voices the adorable nerdy Willow in The Owl House... the range!
