Approaching the Wall of Coruisk
The thing about exploring Skye is that there is so much to see and so much variety, it’s quite dizzying! However, if you were to nail me down with a gun to me head, I’d say that Loch Coruisk is my favourite part of Skye.
Lisabet and I picked a good morning to head to Elgol for a boat ride to Loch Coruisk, deep in the heart of the Black Cuillins. This time I decided to wander around the water itself and look for compositions near its southwestern shore. I picked this composition as I liked the way the elements made a sort of X shape towards the mountains, especially as a beam of light was starting to highlight the landscape. =)
Loch Coruisk, Black Cuillins, Isle of Skye, Hebrides, Highlands, Scotland.
ISO100, f/8, 1⁄10sec at 16mm (24mm full-frame equiv.) using a circular polariser, a soft 1-stop ND grad, and a soft 3-stop ND grad filter stacked on my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens attached to a Nikon D7000. Using those filters allowed me to balance scene with its deep shadows and strong light. I took the same exposure three times for focus stacking as well. Processed with Replichrome’s Velvia 50 emulation in Lightroom, edited in Photoshop.
