✮ . WHO IS SOPHIA CASIMIR? she’s only the coolest girl in Beacon Hills! ask literally anyone (except maybe her little brother, he’s biased)
i. . . . Born on February 5th 1994 (an aquarius sun, leo moon, & aries rising) to Mayor Cassandra Casimir (political powerhouse and keeper of ancient family secrets) & Joseph Casimir (retired literature professor with a penchant for quoting poetry during breakfast). She’s just turned dancing queen age — seventeen and starry-eyed, a little snobbish, and a little selfish in the way most teenage girls tend to be. Best friend of Lydia Martin (resident genius) and Allison Argent (archery goddess). Ride-or-die childhood soul-bonded friends with Stiles Stilinski, Scott McCall, and Lewis Martin since playground days. She’s also the long suffering, side-eyeing sister of Henry (14), Rowan (12), and Aisling (3) — all of them adorable, annoying, and experts at barging into her room uninvited.
By day, she’s captain of Beacon Hills all-girls soccer team, founder of the niche but surprisingly popular school book club ‘Library Science’, and the lead singer of her indie-pop-rock band, Chelsea Dagger (with Lewis on drums, of course). She’s also a secret weapon of the local newspaper, anonymously penning angry feminist long-form essays and dropping the occasional album recommendation. Usually, you can find her curled up at a friends house (usually Scotts) or nestled in a quiet corner of the Kings English bookstore & café sipping a hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
And by night? she’s the slayer (of vampires & demons & such, chosen by fate etc — not just someone who, like, slays in general. Though... she does, of course.)
ii. . . .Being the Slayer was not on her vision board. "Because battling supernatural creatures is just completely out of the realm of possibility???" no! of course not! it's because Sophia is heir to The Most Ancient and Noble House of Casimir, aka the Old Ones, aka the world’s first family of witches. Listen, long before Beacon Hills ever had street signs and the word ‘witch’ even existed, there was House Casimir, a family line that goes all the way back to ancient Mesopotamia and, in the supernatural world, are basically the blueprint for every major arcane lineage since. So yeah, becoming the Slayer wasn't shocking because of its supernatural nature—she's practically bathed in magic since birth—it was shocking because it fundamentally contradicted her birthright as a Casimir witch. Talk about cosmic identity crisis!
Sophia was fourteen when fate decided she would be the next slayer. When the super senses kicked in. The strength, speed, agility, and durability. A sixth sense for sniffing out any supernatural creature within a 10 mile radius. And, of course, the fucking mind compulsion, the heightened emotions, as well as battling night time demons and what have you. She’s not alone, though, thank her lucky stars. She’s got Dr. Alan Deaton — local vet, eternal mystery, and her Proctor-slash-mentor-slash-grim-smiling guardian angel since 2008.
iii. . . .According to Deaton — and Stiles, who has compiled an extensive research archive on ancient history forums and supernatural lore, complete with a meticulously organized colour-coded binder (with tabs, highlights, and sticky notes) that he's been obsessively updating since the moment he discovered her double life — the first Slayer appeared about a thousand years ago as a supernatural counterweight. When vampires crawled their way into existence (thank you, rogue witches — not the Casimir’s fault btw), nature retaliated. It created the Slayer: one girl in all the world, given strength and sight and purpose, chosen to protect both the natural and supernatural world by slaying the things that threaten it — mostly demons, vampires, and any other supernatural creature of the night who might try to tear the earth apart. So yeah… that’s her fate. That’s her life. Witch by birthright, Slayer by predetermined destiny. But other than that, she’s still your average American girl next door, pinky swear!
She’s top of her class pulling straight A’s, she’s battling ancient evil at night, she’s doing her biology homework last minute, she’s trying very hard not to die of the insanely inappropriate crush she has on Lewis (he likes her too but they’re both, unfortunately, totally unaware, much to the pain and suffering of their friends — in the words of Stiles Stilinski: “they like each other so much and are so oblivious to it that it makes me feel physically sick!”), she’s carrying around a purse that contains a wooden stake, a deck of tarot cards, and three different shades of lip gloss, she’s been forced to study old grimoires by her mother. . . Average. American. Girl. (please believe her).
