hello everyone! i’ve essentially been dead since otakon and that’s thanks to senior year kickin me in the ass. and i can’t go to ausa bc i’m bbbbbbbbbroke!

Let me explain, then. Speaking as someone who cosplays Keith, who has been touched/hugged/kissed/squeezed, etc by Lance cosplayers at almost every single con without my consent: Don’t.

You are a stranger, and it’s uncomfortable all around. Particularly when I can tell that the cosplayers are significantly younger than me and probably minors when I am very much not. 

Cosplay does not equal consent.

They call him baby driverrrr and once upon a pair of wheeeels @nightmare-hospital and @intricatesquiggles cosplaying Baby and Buddy, respectively, at Otakon today and ofc we had to take a picture with those anime cars (psst i made baby's jacket for this)

but honestly i’m so glad otakon is in dc this year because driving up to baltimore is a pain in the ass but there’s a metro station like 15 mins from my house so i can just metro on down there lmao

I just made a jacket for my friend’s Baby Driver cosplay and I finished my Bea head (it’s fucking huge and idk how im bout to maneuver it around the con but we’ll see)

Other than that I’m still making bracelets and necklaces for my various coords this weekend but that’s not really a big deal bc i have enough i just.....,,,, would like to have m o r e

I USED TO DRESS UP AS SNOW WHITE FOR CHARITY EVENTS WITH CHILDREN

I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW AWKWARD IT WAS WHEN OUR ELSA DID NOT TALK TO CHILDREN

SHE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING OR BEING AROUND THE KIDS AND THAT MAKES THE KIDS UNCOMFORTABLE!!!

IF YOU ARE COSPLAYING A CHARACTER THAT IS POPULAR AMONG CHILDREN, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE NICE TO KIDS

TO THEM, THEY ARE ACTUALLY MEETING THIS CHARACTER THAT THEY LOVE OR KNOW

You also gotta know that if you’re going somewhere where there will be children and you’re in a costume even slightly similar to a Disney character they will think you are that character. 

 My hair is dyed white and at last year’s Ren Fest I was dressed as a water nymph. So i was in all blue, with glittery blue heeled boots on. Personally, I would have never thought that I looked like Elsa. I had leggings on, not a dress. And no ice themed anything. But that didn’t stop the sweetest little princess from asking me if I was Elsa. 

 I’ll admit that I was thrown for a loop, since I thought I was a pretty convincing mermaid on land with my scale print leggings. But I’m not a dick so I quickly recovered and said I was her cousin. Kids are more than happy to accept that and she smiled then shyly ran back to her mom to tell her she met Elsa’s cousin. 

If you’re in a glittery costume of any sort, in a place where children will be, be prepared to be nice to them. Otherwise you’re just a jerk. No one likes jerks.

~katsu 2017 highlights~ -spending $300 on fashion -one word: trung -my friends the bees -i organized my own meetup!! -making friends -getting called eyeball girl among other incredible compliments -actually seeing a check please cosplay in person -getting life is a highway stuck in my head literally the whole con -meeting some jfashion people i've actually looked up to for a while ~katsu 2017... lowlights?? idk~ -tripping on a perfectly smooth rock placed directly in my path while wearing 4 inch platforms -the panic attack -forgetting to promote my friday ml shoot and showing up late as fuck -not getting everyones names and pronouns at the meetup so now i dont know everyones preferred names and pronouns -taking three furries to a furry photoshoot against my will -scrapping my light up wig -dealer's booth not carrying the right petticoat for the dress i wanted -did i mention the panic attack -the great pizza debacle of 2017 -getting home and immediately recieving 4000 texts from teachers and classmates about assignments
