“Live it up ‘til I’m dead, ignorance in my head, fuck whoever you are, I do what floats my boat.”
Growing up, Tyler’s life never held any extra dramatics. He didn’t have a rough upbringing, nor was he brought up a child of luxury and wealth. He came from a middle class family. A father who worked construction, and a mother who taught the second grade, as well as a younger brother and sister. The first real strife Tyler ever came across with said parent’s divorce when he was eleven years old. The formal separation brought about a change in his life, and while it took some getting used to, it was a turning point in the boy’s life, and not for the worse, but rather for the better. For Tyler, it was a growing experience. He was able to deal with it in his own way, which while it may not have been the most healthy way in deflecting his own feelings and avoiding the problem, he was able to smile throughout. It was his job to smile, or at least that’s how he felt. As the eldest sibling, he’d always felt a need to be the protector, and that was amplified once his two younger siblings felt actual pain for the first time in their lives.
It wasn’t just that “fake it ‘til you make it” mentality that kept Tyler’s vibe positive throughout the bumpy roads, though. He didn’t need to fake happiness, his life is a constant state of “good vibes.” It has never mattered what was thrown at the boy, he’s always responded with a joke, a laugh, and a smile. Most people in his life, outside of his family, have never once seen him in a bad mood, and he’d like to keep it that way. He’s able to shrug off things that annoy or anger him easily, much easier than most people in fact. It comes naturally to him, and maybe he was programmed that way for a reason: he hates conflict. He’ll very rarely argue his case on anything to anyone, and while it leads him to sometimes being taken advantage of, he’d prefer it to the alternative.
While the boy isn’t entirely strong-willed or headstrong, he is stubborn. Somewhere in his DNA there is a refusal to put effort into anything he doesn’t care about: school being number one. He doesn’t see the point in learning about which president did what, or memorizing the quadratic formula and so he doesn’t. While his lack of effort drives his teachers mad, he usually has the charm to win them over regardless, which, thus far, has kept him on track to graduate on time.
In the time that he probably should be doing his homework you can generally find Tyler doing one of three things: hanging out with friends, riding his bike, or writing music. They’re the three things in life he loves most and therefore the three things in life he puts the most effort into. He’s got a heart of gold, and this is ever present on the relationships he holds with his friends. He tries to be as conscious as he can of his friends’ feelings, always wanting to be their shoulder to lean on, or the distraction from their problems. Whatever the issue, he’s always been there for his friends.
While Tyler has an active social life, enjoys surfing and skateboarding, as well as just getting high with his friends, his number one priority is music. Music in itself has always been something the boy has turned to no matter what his mood. He’s taken lessons in multiple instruments, as well as singing, and at one point in his life he formed a band with some of his buddies. In recent years, though, he’s realized his true calling: hip hop. With the upswing of “white/frat boy rap” and artists such as Mac Miller, G-Eazy, Sammy Adams, Aer, and Hoodie Allen, Tyler’s felt an inspiration he’s never felt before. He loves the music they create, and the way it makes him feel: whether it’s a more serious, emotional driven song, motivational, or just a party anthem you can dance to. Music is the one place Tyler feels comfortable with expressing his raw emotions and to him that’s important. He wants to inspire people to deal with things, to pursue goals, and to keep a positive outlook. The boy’s not serious about much, but music, while fun and exciting, has always been serious to him.
Tyler has a certain internet fame from his YouTube covers as well as his presence on other social media platforms. This is exactly how he plans to build his brand, but his goal in the time being is to broaden his experiences as well as his fan base. He’d like to move away from the younger crowd he currently attracts and to become a household name in the hip-hop industry.
Tyler is endearing in his own right. You’ll never meet a happier kid or a more friendly face. He’s caring and understanding, always willing to lend and ear and try his part at offering advice. For these reasons he is one of the best friends you can have. To be one of his supporters can be rewarding or maddening, depending on how you fall. The one thing he’s willing to fight for is his career, but everything else he’ll let go. People take advantage of him too frequently, and he is unable to advance other aspects in his life. Tyler’s main problem is he is too nice for his own good.
