“Fun on 14th St.”

Painted this for my sister’s 32nd birthday. One of her favorite dive bars, Flannery’s. A great place to grab a beer, play darts, and pick a bitchin’ playlist. It’s been closed since the pandemic and possibly may have to close forever, so I painted this for her to honor it. Perfect for decorating her bar on her new apartment.

One of my favorite places to sit at near Riverside Park. Every day, around 11am, I sit at this bench with my cold brew and talk on the phone with my sister or journal in my moleskine while listening to music.

The second picture is my view from the bench. For 30 Rock fans, this is Liz Lemon’s apartment. The real address is 160 W 88th St. but in the show they made it 168.

Had a dream that mom had to kill and intruder (read: “not Jesus”) and so I decided to paint it.

I could lie in bed

in smoke,

in tears,

in pain

.

Clutching you,

Hoping the sun won’t rise,

the sun won’t set;

I imagine the day

and the night as one.

Just as we are one.

The way you hold me

gripping the parts of me

I’d rather cover with a

sheet, a

thigh, your

thigh.

The prickle of your hairs,

infinite, teasing

just like your smile.

You think my hair

is funny, ambiguous,

amorphous. I am

askew.

.

What you do to me

is equivalent to that

of a marksman;

Direct, thorough;

or a carpenter;

You shape me,

wear me down,

and finish me.

.

I feel complete,

lacquered in love,

in care,

by your hand,

your vision.

.

Your lashes are petals,

flickering, calling me in.

Their dance, alluring,

is a Siren glimmering

in the waters of this bed.

I cannot resist

and crash into

your shores.
