Regret is the beclouding of the mind
Kurse from Thor: The Dark World.
Some believe that before the universe, there was nothing. They’re wrong. There was darkness… and it has survived.

“No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause; At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom." – Vladmir Nabokov

Just curious, Reblog if your muse has already thought about suicide.
Legacy of Romulus
While this has NOTHING to do with the universe our RP is taking place, all I ask is that you listen to the speech D'Tan is giving in this preview.
THIS is how the Dark Elves are in my mind and a perfect example of why I feel sympathy for a race so typically tossed aside as a "default evil". The Romulans in Star Trek were treated the same way for over three decades of the fandom, and they were so rarely shown in a sympathetic light until later seasons of the Next Generation and now in the Star Trek Online MMORPG.
They are a proud, intelligent, passionate race fighting for survival against hundreds of other alien races that see them as a stain to be cleansed. They are not any more evil than Klingons, who have more than once been shown in a positive light despite being a predominately animalistic and warlike race for the LONGEST time before there was any depth given to them. Not all the Romulans are out for revenge; most are just civilians and refugees just trying desperately to survive and find an uninhabited planet to call home after theirs was completely destroyed, fighting against their own government that is trying to enslave them. Their LEADERS and their military are the ones out still trying to conquer, in spite of their number being so few. Most of the fighting in the video is the refugee Rebellion vs. the Romulan military; they aren't fighting any other race but their own, just trying to remain free from subjugation.
It's like my take on Algrim vs. the vengeful Malekith.
Romulans are the Dark Elves of the Star Trek universe.
....sorry, my nerd moment is over and I'm going to stare at my drafts again bye ;;
*shuffles away*
At the sound of Algrim's voice, Sol instinctively drew her cloak about her further, trying to seal up her glow as she turned with a start. "Oh! Counselor Algrim, I apologize- My glow, I-" She did not wish to pain him, closing her eyes to make her glow darken, almost snuffing it completely as she bowed her head to the elf. "I was looking for something to read. Did I disturb you?"
"Shh, m’lady, you’re quite alright. I’d not have survived long in Asgard should the tiniest bit of light blind me. Do not make yourself uncomfortable on my account."
Stepping aside, he extended his arm toward the benches that were arranged near a window at the end of the row of shelves.
"You are free to join me if you wish? I was seeking a bit of distraction, myself."
Sol made her way through the darkened hallways of the palace to the library, cloaked as always. Her magic restrained while in the palace, her glow was soft, almost an amber-red. Down the row of books she walked, searching for an adventure.
The library was often a pretty common place for Algrim to be found; it was quiet and relaxing, much different from the overall tense, crowded feel of the main hall or central courtyards. He steered clear of anything “historical”, however, having once made the mistake and regretting it the instant he read of his people being painted as heathens and deceitful savages…
That evening, he’d managed to locate a rather harmless book that seemed to have been written solely to document the nine realms from an educational perspective; of course, not ever race was represented in the best light, but one could only ask so much…
A faint glow amongst the rows, peeking between the slightest gap between shelves, caught the elf’s attention. He stood from where he’d decided to sit and cautiously made his way toward the traveling light.
"Ah…Lady Sol," he said quietly, coming into view and bowing slightly. "Do forgive me for not announcing my presence. I was not certain who had come in.."
One more soul to the call, for all, in silence Comes two more souls to the call, for all, and in time Three more more souls to the call, they fall Unknowing that four more souls to the call, won’t be all And you know it
