there are honestly so many great moments of luke & lorelai coparenting rory throughout the show. when they discuss her first kiss in the market, when lorelai tells luke that dean broke up with rory and he makes her a special breakfast, when rory & jess get into the car accident and they fight (”you know i care about rory more than i do myself”), when they attend rory’s graduation, when they both help rory move into her dorm, and the list just goes on and on. it’s so beautiful to see from the very beginning luke’s love for rory and lorelai, and luke’s willingness to work with lorelai to ensure rory’s safety and happiness.

I absolutely adore that Lorelai’s main reason for realizing she wanted to marry Luke (even though she’d never really considered marriage before) was seeing how much he cared about Rory. Despite the plot taking some weird turns in season 6 that confession made me realize Amy still really understood the fundamental ways her characters worked. It was a truly beautiful moment.
