She didn’t judge. Everyone could help in some way. Handicapped or not. Besides this lady seemed pretty upbeat. Which left her wondering how chipper she was going to last at seeing where they’d be going and the people they’d be seeing.

Fingers clasped around the other as they shook hands briefly till Catherine pulled away.

Not physically able to stop grinning, Mary nodded once in a brief show of determination. She was offput just slightly though about Catherine's mention of her and the others being down after doing this for a little while. That wouldn't deter her though, she would just see for herself. Staying positive through most anything was one of the woman's many talents.

Mumbling sarcastically to herself, Mary watched as the small tower of books she'd had in her lap fell to the floor. Somehow she'd managed to wheel all the way from the parking lot and up the ramp to the library doors just to clumsily knock the things over trying to hit the handicap button to open the door.

Trying to catch the attention of the first person to have passed by, Mary reached out, coming just short of being able to touch the young man's forearm. She'd dropped her keys under a car parked at the side of the street. God knew that if she tried to get out of her chair she may not make it back in. The woman hated asking people for help but this was one of the times she really needed it.

It had been a pretty long day. After work Mary had to make an impromptu trip to the store having found out that one of her coworkers was sick. She wanted to make some soup and bring it over the next day. The issue with shopping, though, was that the woman had not anticipated having to walk very much and, consequently, had not brought her wheelchair; instead she only had her cane. And while that was helpful, it wasn't going to give her the amount of support that she needed.

However, Mary, by some miracle, made it through shopping. Her entire lower body was aching by the time she made it back to her car. The parking garage was plenty empty, as it was a little earlier than most people would be getting off work. She didn't think a thing about that until she'd faltered, her cane not landing solidly on the ground but rather on a rock. With one hand on the cane and the other hugging groceries, there was no time for Mary to stop her fall; rather, she hit the ground letting out a short yelp before clashing with the pavement. Food all spilled and spattered surrounding her there was a wave of self pity that quickly came and left as Mary weakly tried to collect herself, though that was proving more difficult by the second.
