He stared at her curiously. Did she say getaway? Had she come here of her own choice? So far he hadn’t met anyone who had come here of their own volition. “Wait, so you knew you were coming here when you came?” he inquired quickly. No one else had known about this place before arriving here.
He listened feeling a bit discouraged as she mentioned checking out the library. But shaking his head quickly, he turned to face her. “We can’t get discouraged! We all got here somehow, right?! There has to be some way out!?”
Folding his arms he nodded, “Mmm s’fine. I think we’re all feeling confused. This place is definitely strange. How people just show up here!? Pretty messed up…” he muttered, nodding his head. “I just woke up here one morning. I’ve recognized a few people, but mostly it’s been all new faces for me! Do you know anyone here?” Maybe she had come here with others she knew.
Sam can’t help the feeling of tension that rises up from her gut, not quite comfortable enough to be sharing all her thoughts and experiences with this stranger just yet-- so she allows him just the barest of bones; a thoughtful sound escaping her as she forces herself to relax.
“... Kind of. I took a bus and kinda just ended up here, really. NOT exactly the best thing to wake up to, though.”
Offering yet another one of her tired smiles, Sam finds herself a bit more at ease as they steer away from the topic of her arrival-- and instead appreciating the clear optimism he was showing in trying to find a way out of here and back home. It was nice to know there were others that seemed just as intent on getting information on this place as she was-- if not more, even. It was a relieving thought to keep in mind, at the very least.
“You’re right---- you’re right, moaning about it isn’t doing anyone any good; we’ll just have to dig a little deeper.”
Letting out a short hum afterwards, she nods as she listens to his own story of arrival; familiar in the sense where she’d heard it once before-- from Ash, actually. The memory of finding her again still fresh in her mind, Sam feels yet another wave of something caught between relief and nausea at the mere thought of it. In the back of her mind she wonders if that’s how most of them got here-- passing out only to wake up somewhere else, that is.
“Thankfully, yeah. My friend, Ashley... sounds like she got here the same way you did, actually.”
