i'm just telling the truth ! & you can play this at my F U N E R A L. wrap me up in chanel inside my coffin. might go to hell & there ain't no stopping ! might be a sinner & i might be a saint. i'd like to be proud, but somehow I'm ashamed. sweet little baby in a world full of pain. i gotta be honest, I don't know if I could take it. everybody's talking, but what's anybody saying ?
“I’m alright.” She waves off any concern, rubbing her shoulder where a particularly thick hard cover book fell, but the pain was already starting to fade. “Just–” A huff fell from her lips as she stood and started to sort books back to their rightful places. “–embarrassed.” She hoped the clatter wouldn’t attract too many people, but she started to work a little faster just in case.
“It probably does not do well to destroy the place you’re applying to, right?” Her laugh is both quiet and a little dry, but she just shakes her head as she turns to face the other, offering a small smile. “It could be worse.”
“ are you sure ? ” sebastian asks as a sympathetic smile reaches his features. the crash hasn’t caused other people to suddenly run over to the aisle, but he did see a couple of confused faces when he walked over here. “ here let me help you... ” he reaches down to pick a few books, carefully placing them into the book shelf.
“ i wouldn’t necessarily say you destroyed the place. besides, i’m sure they’ll know it was an accident, ” he half-teases. but he nods in acknowledgement, “ it could definitely be worse. ”
The library was by far her favorite spot in town, quiet, calm, and most importantly? Hiring. The life of a librarian may not be as exciting when compared to her last job, but she wasn’t here for exciting. She was here to lay low. And yet–despite that–she did have an application currently sitting at the police station…
She wasn’t hired anywhere yet, but that didn’t stop her from exploring, fingers tracing over the spines of books as she wandered about. One caught her eye but as she went to pull it down, almost half the shelf came with it. “Nice one, Wanda.” She sighed before bending down to start picking everything up. “This has to be a sign of bad luck or something…”
sebastian rarely goes to the library anymore, it sucks because he really does miss the days where he could just stay in the library for hours on end just reading everything. unfortunately, he can’t do that so much since college & working has all gotten in the way. regardless though, he’s thankful to be back in the nice library walls, even if it’s for studying rather than leisure.
he’s looking through the sections for a book, needing to remind the librarians on staff ( notably not enough librarians, though ) that the sections were definitely messed up. he jumps slightly when he hears a shelf fall over. he stops to go check, spotting a brunette in the aisle, “ are you alright ? ” he asks, concern on his features at the books astray on the floor.
And cracked ribs, Mercury didn’t add. He probably didn’t need to add anything to that list. At least the guy seemed pretty cool with the matter. Laughing quietly to himself, Mercury spared the mugger a short glance before walking towards the other. “Thanks, man. I’m just use to people jumping on my case at this point. But, hey, maybe he’ll think twice next time.”
sebastian wonders what it says about him that he’s so desensitised to violence at this point. then again, he’s seen worse than a guy kicking a mugger happen around magnolia, so he guesses it says more about the town than him. regardless, he replies easily, “ no problem. i mean, yeah, for people who didn’t see the full story maybe it would’ve seemed a bit overkill, but oh well. if he really needs help, he can go to the hospital & explain how he ended up getting his ass kicked. ”
Triggering the short-distance wind Dust in his boots, explosions ringing out with each hit. It wasn’t enough to harm long term, just to wind them and leave them sorry on the pavement. It was a shame, they picked the wrong guy to try and mug. Landing perfectly, Mercury bent down and snatched the knife they’d pulled on him. Noticing someone nearby, Mercury straightened up. “They’re fine,” he started off with, because that was the usual concern witnesses had, “but they deserved it.”
sebastian whistles, eyebrows raised in surprise at the elaborate use of violence against the mugger, before putting his hands up in a peace gesture. “ didn’t say they didn’t. figure he’ll get away with a few bumps & bruises here & there -- at MOST, maybe a sprained limb from falling backwards, but. ” & cue sebastian shrugging apathetically, “ he had it coming. ” sebastian has little sympathy for muggers, anyways.

Oh. Wash recognised that voice. It was the guy that’d helped him out when he first got here. Wash stepped back from the punching bag to reach for his water, turning somewhat to face the other with a slightly amused scrunch to his nose that crinkled around his scars. “– I mean, if you’re just here to watch, you could always hold the bag. I’ve been told the view’s better from there.”
sebastian raises a hand to make a tiny wave from where he stands, propped against the wall. he pushes himself off the wall to walk closer to the older male. raising an eyebrow at the amusement on his face, sebastian laughs lightly at the words before pretending to think it over. with an exaggerated shrug, he nods at the offer, “ i mean, alright. i’m putting a lot of trust in you to not punch me in the face though. ”
Stephanie had just moved, and, picking up the last of her suitcases, she ran off, until the suitcase jammed into one of the floor’s unevenness, flapping to the side and banging on someone “oops! Sorry!”
sebastian blinks when he feels someone ram into his side before he’s turning his attention to them, “ it’s fine, ” he dismisses the concern with ease before spotting her suitcases, “ are you new here ? ”
Honestly, Wash was so fucking grateful for having been hired on at the gym as a personal trainer. Literally so fucking grateful. Why? It meant near-continuous access, a useful and important thing for a guy whose…yeah, let’s not go into how…put simply, we saw a manifestation of the inside of Wash’s head one time and it wasn’t pretty. The point is, gym access meant he could do other things, when cats just wouldn’t cut it. And here he was. Being majestic and space-marine. In the gym.
The blows that he landed on the punching bag didn’t falter when footsteps neared. All he did was grunt out a, “– You here to watch or join?”
sebastian isn’t one that typically likes going to the gym. he’s athletic, sure, but he prefers playing sports compared to doing much else. regardless, he’s here because he wanted to use the treadmill for a while. granted, he hasn’t been at this gym for a long time since he finds himself wandering around. he spots a familiar guy punching a punching bag, & steps closer. when his presence goes recognised, he lifts a hand to represent he comes in peace, although he doubts the man can see it from where he’s standing, “ nah, just watching. ”
“Sorry..-where did you say here was again?” Rose questioned, over hearing a person close by. so she figured asking them to say it again made the most sense. The last she remembered she’d been in HQ looking over the new alien device they’d been handed and then..boom! she ended up here…-god she just hoped everyone here weren’t aliens. “What’s the year too?”
“ magnolia, illinois & good ol’ two thousand & seventeen. let me guess: you’re a time traveller.”
Enjolras was wearing an LGBT+ flag as a cape and his visible skin was almost entirely glittered and rainbowed. Still, he somehow managed to look like Righteous Fury™, the culminating effect being, in essentiality, An Aggressively Gay French™.
“– Pardon!” he called out. “– Sign this petition? It is for a good cause!”
sebastian raises an eyebrow in amusement at the male covered in rainbows, but he knows he can’t say anything when, himself has a rainbow flag painted in glitter on his cheek, & he’s wrapped up in an LGBT+ flag himself. if anything, he walks over.
the french tips him off, immediately, so he chances an opportunity to speak in his native language, “ what is the petition for,& do you have a pen ? ”
Everything had come together quite wonderfully for the festival, and Padme couldn’t help but wear a pride smile across her features as she overlooked the groups of people appearing to enjoy themselves. “This all seems to be working out quite well, doesn’t it?”
the festival was lovely. better than sebastian had thought it would be, & while he isn’t part of the town council, he’s lived here long enough to know that magnolia’s events are never a dull affair. he smiles at the woman who speaks, recognising her from the few times he’s been to a town council meeting. “ it really is lovely. you guys did a great job. ”
Mulder quickly found himself isolated from hoards of festival attendees. As a figure approached, the agent decided to break his silence. “Am I the only occupant of this place under the impression that this festival could potentially be a distraction? Half of us hold no knowledge of how we arrived. I’m still missing my partner, and somehow there’s a festival? I’m over the moon due to the fact that it’s for a good cause, but something doesn’t seem right.”
ever since he was young, he had gone here during the summers, so the quirks of magnolia has long since stopped shocking him. so when the guy he had seen have that like mental breakdown in the street the other day speak to him, he isn’t entirely fazed what he says.
“possibly not the only person, but definitely not the last. people not having their memories of coming here isn’t exactly a thing of the past. it happens. unfortunately quite often. but i can assure you: this festival ? not a distraction. magnolia doesn’t take their town events lightly, this really is just an innocent way to unite the community. but... if you’d like, i do know a thing or two about the weird things that happen in this town.”
