pandora’s box, the golden fleece, & heart of gold pls
thank you, bug ! we’ve added your votes <3
t-minus only a couple hours until we drop the main & only a few last minute tweaks and additions to make ! make sure that you send us which one of our SKELETONS you would like to see pushed up the queue & released at the beginning of our twenty-four hour period !
I vote skeleton in the closet and the flight risk!
you got it, thank you so much!
today is the day ! the main will be dropping before too long at all & with it... our complete skeletons ! we’re currently at a 13-way tie for what skeleton will be dropped second, so come & give us your input & help us decide the order we’ll be releasing them ! you can find our entire skeletons list HERE if you need a refresher <3
caged bird, shakespearean tragedy, filled with fire, and tidal wave are the angst-riddled children i’m rooting for at the moment!
angst-riddled children wow you hit the nail on the head w that one ! thank you for the votes !
skeleton in the closet pls!!
skelly stans only in this house ! thank you lover, your vote has been added ! <3
when will you start doing acceptances?
hi bug ! reed & i have definitely discussed this a little bit & we have a rough ( read: very rough ) idea of when we would like to be open but nothing is set in stone ! we both think that allowing around two weeks after we open tomorrow ( !! ) will be an ideal amount of time to allow people to truly connect with the skeletons, create & establish their characters, & put together an app, but it will all depend on how things look once the main hits the tags ! we want to make sure everyone has a chance to really dig deep & think about their characters without feeling rushed <3
i'd love to see more about peaked in highschool, heart of gold, daylight dreamer and the tidal wave!
thank you so much ! we’ve added your votes to the count !
the comeback kid; pandora’s box; the flight risk; the glow stick; angel on the interstate
all my children. thank you, bug ! they are noted !
hi friends! we’re so close to the release of the main blog. we want to ask you what skeletons you’re most interested in seeing first. we plan to release all of the skeletons within the first twenty-four hours of dropping the main, but the order will be dependent on which ones y’all are the most excited to see! so, here’s a reminder link to our skeleton masterlist, and here’s a link to our inbox. send us which skeletons should be moved up the list!
Is this rp a limited run ?
plot-wise, yes ! there is a definitive ending point to this story. however, there’s no set timeline as far as how long it will last quite yet. a lot of it depends on the members we end up accepting & how dedicated they are to the story ! we’re opening it over winter break because we know it’s easier to get established when most of the intense work ( coming up with a character, going through the application process, etc ) is done on a break but we are both ready & willing to take as much time telling melanie’s story as everyone wants ! & we’re also both very attached to the little world we have going on in hemlock, so we’d definitely be open to maybe exploring other stories the town has to offer, but one thing at time !
⋮ ◌ ° ◦ CAN YOU REMEMBER YOUR DEATH?
your grandmother’s ring that can always be found on your left pointer finger, using the same winning move in chess each time you play, burning incense late at night, history always repeating itself, a snake shedding its skin, writing in purple ink in library books before returning them, deja vu, rising from the ashes, using your candles until there’s no wax left, anxious energy pent up in tiny motions, the things that never leave the lost and found, hairline fractures in glass, accidentally breaking promises, trying to catch your breath.
° ◦ BASICS.
name: melanie rivera gender & pronouns: cis female, she & hers age: 21 at the time of her disappearance major: political science faceclaim: seychelle gabriel
° ◦ MELANIE.
from the moment you are born, you are different. you enter this world on november 13, 1998 with a calm smile on your face, eyes relaxed, a look on your visage that told your mom “i got this, i’ve done this plenty of times before.”
⋮ ◌ ° ◦ HEMLOCK HISTORY MUSEUM
when lucrezia covington gained control of covington university from her brother, she wanted to separate her personal life from her employment, and so continued to live in the cottage she bought for herself a few miles away from the university. because she had no children, she donated the cottage to the town when she died, with the intent for the town to turn it into the hemlock history museum. this is exactly what happened, and after fifty years of slow fundraising, the museum finally opened its doors in 1911. what was once a room filled only with a dedication plaque reading “in loving memory of lucrezia covington, november 13, 1812 to december 13, 1861” is now filled with oddities from prominent moments in hemlock’s history and information from the town archives, the museum is a great way to familiarize yourself with hemlock’s past, present, and future.
⋮ ◌ ° ◦ VIOLET CARTER THEATER.
by far the most grandiose of the structures on covington university’s campus is the violet carter theater, which was designed and constructed by lucrezia covington herself as a token of affection to its namesake. violet carter, professor of shakespearean literature and avid lover of theatre, had a dream of seeing covington one day pay real tribute to the works of shakespeare to which she had dedicated her life and lucrezia was determined to see her wishes granted. in true nature to the tender relationship lucrezia and violet shared throughout their lives — until lucrezia’s death and violet’s subsequent passing of a broken heart within days — lucrezia had the theater constructed exactly to violet’s liking. to this day, the violet carter theater is, among all other productions, the host of covington university’s annual winter show, which is always a piece written by shakespeare.
⋮ ◌ ° ◦ THE BLACKWOOD EATERY
after founding the town, the next thing salvatore blackwood founded was the blackwood eatery, a restaurant that has only served polish food since the moment it was founded. its claim to fame is the fact that abraham lincoln visited once on a quick trip home to illinois, and died a week later. it was thought that the food was the reason why he died, whether it poisoned him or cursed him. most people believe it’s an urban legend made up by the blackwoods as an attempt to drum up business, but abraham lincoln presenters come from all over illinois to visit the absurd eatery, making its customers extremely diverse and well dressed, yet there are always a handful of hemlock natives ordering their regulars on each shift.
⋮ ◌ ° ◦ LAZARUS CONSERVATORY
among the most renowned of covington university’s academic programs is their toxicology program — the study of the nature, effects, and detection of poisons. among the most notable toxicology program alumni are the delarosa twins, who implemented their masters theses in the creation of the triple p (the poisonous plants program) where select toxicology students are permitted to use the lazarus conservatory — named in honor of avid poison enthusiast, lazarus covington himself — to grow a range of toxic plants in order to better study the poisons they produce and find new uses and antidotes for them.
