Instinctively, your hands came up to grip Sanji’s arms that were wrapped tightly around your shoulder line. Your head tilted up to look at the man towering over you, and from the corner of your eye you could see Zoro practically deflate.
Sanji’s expression softened as you looked up at him – he had his answer.
Sanji’s hand came up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, making you turn to him thoughtlessly. You felt as though you were on autopilot and yet, simultaneously hyper aware of his every feature, of the way he was looking at you as though drinking you in. The simplest brush of his fingertips on your cheekbone sent a wave of heat through you.
He had such tenderness in his voice as he said, “Y/n… You’re the one for me. Since the day you boarded this ship, you’ve been the apple of my eye, the light of my life, the fire of my -”
“Hey,” Nami interjected, the tone of her voice a clear warning. Sanji’s lips pressed in to a smile, unbothered by the disruption. His large hands held your face, thumbs caressing your cheeks as though you were the most precious thing he ever had the privilege of meeting.
“I’m so in love with you,” Sanji continued, “that I don’t know what to do with myself.”
“You could start by kissing me,” you suggested, a shy smile on your lips.
“I’ll remind you two that you’re in the kitchen, it’s eight AM and there are other people in the room.” Nami interjected once more – and truthfully, you couldn’t blame her. You were so caught up in the moment you had forgotten about anyone and anything else. Being suddenly pulled out of your haze, you looked at your crewmates – Luffy and Usopp were watching you and Sanji like a telenovela was unraveling before them. Zoro was gone – he must have left the room without you noticing. You were sad to hurt him, but your feelings for Sanji were undeniable.
“Come, my love,” Sanji took your hand and took to leading you out of the kitchen. “let’s continue this somewhere more private.” Luffy and Usopp cheered and whistled at that (you thought you could hear Nami sigh in between) – heat rushed to your cheeks as you thought of the implications that must have come to their minds.
You felt like a kid, giggling excitedly as the man you loved guided you to the boys’ room (you were silently grateful Zoro took the spare room for himself). Sanji guided you in to the room before following, shutting the door behind himself. Before you could take it all in his lips were already on yours – he had descended upon you with all the urgency he had felt for so long. He had one hand in your hair, holding you in place, almost scared to let you go – the other hand caressing the side of your body, struggling to decide where exactly he wanted to touch, after having dreamt of this moment for so long.
You couldn’t believe this was finally happening – and it was even better than you imagined. Sanji’s lips meshed perfectly against yours, the perfect combination of passionate and hot but still delicate and caring. You thread an arm behind his neck, holding him closely to you. Sanji took that as the go-ahead to take hold of your waist and press you against him, reveling in your warmth, in the softness of your body; you surely couldn’t complain, as you enjoyed feeling the hardness of his muscular chest, the outline of his figure… things you hadn’t felt before.
After a while, you had no choice but to break apart to breath; a need that Sanji didn’t seem to have, because the moment you broke the kiss he seized the opportunity to kiss down your neck, biting lightly until he found your sweet spot. He knew he found the spot because you couldn’t contain your moan. That only edged Sanji on to bite harder, needing to leave his mark on you; you were driving him insane, and you had only just began.
Sanji’s grip on your waist gradually became so strong it would bruise, but you were enjoying it all too much to notice. It was only when you noticed his nimble fingers undoing your shirt buttons – just as you heard Usopp laugh not too far away – that you came to your senses. The crew must have finished eating, and soon your privacy would be gone.
“Wait,” you took a step back from Sanji. He stopped his assault on your neck, but he couldn’t contain the kicked-puppy expression he had at the loss of you. “we should cool it. For now. With everyone around, and all…”
Sanji cleared his throat, straightening his jacket and stepping closer to you to rebutton your shirt. “Right. You’re right. For now.” With the last words he looked in to your eyes, making sure you knew you would be continuing these activities at a later point. Sanji flattened your shirt, but you were half sure it was just a guise to touch you some more before you had to part. Finally, his hand came to your neck, fingertips lightly caressing the spot he bit hard – where there surely was a frightening bruise forming. “At least now you know you’re mine.”

You definitely did not see this coming when you woke up that morning.
Zoro stood before you, looking more than ready to yank you away from Sanji’s hold. He asked what you wanted – a simple question on its own, but right now, so hard to answer seeing you didn’t know if he felt the way you did.
Zoro was sweet to you, sure. Maybe sweeter to you than he ever was to Nami, or, to anyone else for that matter. But seeing him fight with Sanji over every little thing, you took into consideration that his tenderness towards you might just be to rub the cook the wrong way. But then you thought of the way he pulled you in earlier that morning. Knowing Zoro, it was unlikely that came naturally to him. And it had just been the two of you – there was nothing performative about that gesture.
Not to mention, the way he looked at you now – it was almost pleading.
It wasn’t even a conscious decision when you finally replied, “You”.
That was it. You had taken the plunge, a leap of faith.
The crew fell silent in anticipation; Sanji’s arms froze around you.
“Cook, it’s time you took your hands off my woman.”
Blood rushed to your cheeks hearing Zoro call you his woman. Sanji, seemingly in shock, complied wordlessly. The rest of the crew watched the interaction, expressions varying from wide eyes to slacked jaws.
“What?” Zoro asked the group, sitting himself back down and reaching for the orange juice. “It’s not like you didn’t see this coming.” He poured himself a glass, ignoring the current state of his peers. Deciding to follow his lead, you recompose yourself. You squeeze Sanji’s hand apologetically before returning to your own place, Sanji following your lead in defeat.
“I mean,” Luffy started, “I didn’t see this coming. How did I not see this coming?”
Usopp put on a proud-but-totally casual smirk. “I don’t blame you. They were pretty discreet. It takes a keen eye to notice these things.”
You had to stifle your laugh. “Either way,” continued Luffy, “I’m happy for you guys. The Straw hat’s first romance!”
Sanji leaned forward in his chair, raising a brow at Nami. “You wanna be the second?”
Later, the crew dispersed to their regular activities; this meaning you hadn’t had a chance to speak to Zoro since breakfast. You had a lot of unanswered questions that begged for his attention.
You stood to the side of the deck, watching the sun set after a hard day’s work. You watched the sun blend into the sea as you tried to quiet your rambling mind, trying to make sense of everything that was going on before you saw Zoro at dinner.
You were not prepared for him to approach you first.
You felt his hand on your back before you heard Zoro greet “Hey”, coming up beside you.
“Hi!” you replied, far too enthusiastically. Zoro smiled at your obvious nervousness.
“Are you done for the day?”
“Yeah,” you smiled, forcing the tension to leave your body. It was just Zoro. Zoro, who had referred to you as his woman. Cool. Casual. “How was training?”
“Good. You should join me tomorrow. There’s a couple of things I want to teach you.”
You loved training with Zoro; he had a knack for guiding you so cooly, and yet not giving you any slack for being a girl. “I’d love that.”
Zoro shifted to face the sea. Was he… nervous, too? “Listen. About this morning.”
Oh no. This was it. He was going to tell you it was all a show to annoy Sanji and you’d have to throw yourself off the ship in humiliation.
“I was thinking, and I don’t think I made it clear before.” You swallowed hard. Zoro turned to face you once more. “Can I be straight with you?”
“Always.” Your voice came out too small for comfort.
“Y/n, I’m in love with you.”
Oh.
“I’m not the best at this kind of stuff, so I reckoned I’d just say it so you knew. Hope that doesn’t creep you out or anything.”
“Creep me out!” you laughed. “Zoro, I’ve near crawled in to your bed for like, every morning for weeks now.”
Zoro’s lip quirked in to a little half-smile. “I nearly pulled you in a thousand times.” You had to smile at that, too, your heart feeling full enough to burst. “You think it takes me an hour to get out of bed? I just liked being alone with you.”
“Zoro!” you playfully smack his chest, and his hand comes up to hold yours in place where it fell atop his heart. His other hand finds its place on your neck, anchoring you in place. His eyes drop to your lips, and you stop breathing altogether. Zoro’s thumb brushes lightly over your bottom lip, before he leans down and his lips meet yours.
The passion you had been holding down for so long bubbled up to the surface in an instant; soon your modest kisses turned ravenous, with you pulling Zoro closer to you by his shirt. Zoro angled you so that he could sneak his tongue to meet yours. The idea that the entire display may be inappropriate out in the open where anyone might see you two came across your mind, but the hunger you were feeling for Zoro shut down the concern.
It wasn’t long until you heard a familiar “Oi!” that broke you two apart. Sanji was standing at the door to the accomodations, kitchen towel thrown over his shoulder. “Hands off, she’s an honest woman!” Sanji scolded Zoro who, for the first time, didn’t seem bothered by Sanji’s pestering. “Come on,” Sanji continued. “Dinner’s served.” With that, he was gone.
“We should go,” you told Zoro. Sighing heavily, reluctant to leave your current state, Zoro agreed. The two of you began walking towards the accomodations when Zoro casually slipped his hand to grip yours. Yeah… You could get used to this.

“Here, like this.”
Sanji took to standing behind you, wrapping his arms around you to place his hands on yours, guiding you through the proper motions to chop a carrot as evenly as he did. You couldn’t help but notice how his biceps flexed against your own, how he smelled of the bath he took this morning, the light caress of his breath on your neck. It was nearly overwhelming. You had to hyperfocus on the task in front of you so to not zone out and chop off a finger.
The carrots now chopped, Sanji’s excuse to wrap himself around you was gone. Reluctantly, he took a step back; you weren’t sure if the sudden coldness you were feeling was disappointment at his lack of proximity.
“Okay,” he started, his voice a little shaken; you wondered – was that because of you? “breakfast’s about as good as done. Do you want to call everyone in?”
“Sure,” you agreed, earning yourself one of Sanji’s beautiful, deep-dimpled smiles.
Gathering the crew for breakfast was rarely a hassle; you were often tasked with the mission after helping Sanji prep breakfast, and so, you already knew everyone’s routines and where to find them. Luffy was usually nearby the kitchen somewhere, ready to pounce on breakfast the moment Sanji permitted; Nami could be found on deck, drawing maps of where you’ve been; Usopp was a bit less predictable, but he’d usually find you as you were making the rounds. And then there was Zoro – which, you learned, was not a morning person.
While Sanji was up at the crack of dawn, already dressed to the nines and on his feet working in the kitchen, Zoro would sleep in until forced out of bed. They really were polar opposites.
This morning was no different; you knocked twice on Zoro’s door before letting yourself in. You smiled at the sight of his sleeping form, splayed across the bed, limbs tangled in his sheets – so unlike the proper way he held himself during his waking hours.
Perching yourself on the side of the bed, you lay a hand on Zoro’s shoulder. He opted to sleep on his stomach, and you couldn’t help but be appreciative of the sight of his muscular back, shaped by the hours of training he put in daily. “Zoro,” you called calmly, caressing his upper back in what you believed to be a friendly manner. “Hey, it’s time for breakfast.”
Zoro mumbled incoherently in to his pillow before shifting to throw an arm around you, his eyes still shut peacefully. “Zoro,” you laughed, being tilted on to him. “come on, it’s time to wake up.”
Finally, Zoro responded. “Mm. Sleep better.”
“Better than Sanji’s cooking?”
“Yes,” he deadpanned. You should have seen that coming. After a short pause, Zoro opened an eye, taking you in. “Did you cook?”
“I helped.”
“Fine.” With that, Zoro threw off the sheet that was covering him, hopping out of bed in surprising speed. While he’d usually sleep in trousers, last night was hotter than usual, and he seemed to opt against them today.
“Sorry,” you apologize, seeing Zoro in nothing but his boxers. You stood up to make your way out of the room when Zoro interjected, “What’s the rush? I’ll walk with you,” as he pulled on a pair of pants. He grabbed a button-up and followed you out of his room, threading an arm in to his shirt.
You stopped dead in your tracks as you came face to face with Usopp. You could see from the way he was looking at you two, just what he was thinking. You both were leaving his room quietly early in the morning, Zoro being half undressed. Usopp’s gaze jumped between you and Zoro, his mouth falling slightly open, trying to think of how to express himself.
Zoro, however, didn’t give him the opportunity. “Usopp.” Zoro greeted sternly. Zoro then placed a hand on your lower back, maneuvering you to keep walking, leaving a confused, suspicious Usopp behind.
Usopp was the last to join you all for breakfast. When he had finally arrived, the expression he wore was one of slight terror, or maybe just pure disbelief; a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by the rest of the crew. Usopp took his place sitting opposite Nami, who wasn’t afraid to just ask – “Usopp. What’s up with your face?”
Usopp, reluctant to vocalize at this place and time, opted for giving Nami a wide-eyed look before raising his brows and shifting his eyeline between you and Zoro.
If that was meant to be a discreet message from himself to Nami, it failed, because even your oblivious captain had picked up on the cue – “What’s going on with y/n and Zoro?”
You could see Sanji tense visibly, his eyes growing wide. Zoro, however, seemed completely unbothered.
You could see the panic rise on Usopp before he blurted out, “Zoro and y/n are sleeping together!”
You, Luffy and Nami all shout – “What?!” to varying degrees of emotion. Strangely, Zoro doesn’t protest.
Then, a chair falls back to the floor. Sanji was on his feet, his hands fisted. You knew him well enough to know how mad he was just from the way he held himself.
“No.” Sanji said, his voice almost a growl. Slowly, he picked up his gaze from the floor to Zoro. “This… This is the one thing, I refuse to lose to you. I won’t let you have her.”
“Sit down, cook. This doesn’t regard you.” How Zoro could be so unbothered right now, you had no idea. Why wasn’t he clearing things up? Was he – was he okay with the others thinking you were together?
You could see Sanji flaring up – there was a fight about to break out, you were certain about it. “Sanji, I literally spent all morning with you.”
Instantly, Sanji’s rage melted away. Sanji made his way to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you to him. “That’s right. I shouldn’t be listening to this nonsense when I know I’m the first person you see when you wake up.”
Zoro’s brow twitched at that. “What are you saying, cook?”
Looking more smug than need be, Sanji replied, “What do you think, mosshead?”
“Enough with this already!” Nami yelled, far too tired with the duo’s one-upmanship. “You’re talking about a real person here, not a toy. Ever think to ask her how she feels, what she wants?”
“Yeah, y/n.” Zoro stood, and the look he was giving you could set you ablaze. Sanji’s arms around you tightened. “What do you want?”
