Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians. How lucky are we to live in this big beautiful country? Is she perfect? No. Does she have a complicated past with the indigenous peoples who were here before? That's putting it mildly. But we acknowledge that and try to right the wrongs which can never fully be righted. I am and hopefully always will be proud to have been born and raised in Canada, flaws and all.

I've never been to a school with detention and at this point I'm too scared to ask what you actually do there
Depends on the school. Some make you do small work like cleaning a classroom or grade tests or something. Others just have you sit there in silence and work on your homework. My school’s “homework lab” detention was the latter. To me the worst punishment was that they always called my dad to let him know and I got Questioned about it.
At my highschool you would get detention during break hours (lunch or first break) where you couldn’t eat or anything and you were given random chores
My favourite was moving reams of paper from one side of the room to the other
