The day has finally coooome! I'm posting my comic on taptasic and newgrounds, i was trying to make webtoon work but all my file sizes are wrong for it and im having some kinda glitch where it dosnt wanna let me log in on my computer, so i decided to just stick with taptastic. I don't think ill post pages on here, as i don't think tumblr is the best place to read longform comics.

theme: ***GOTH***

i havent joined in a couple of months, and im happy to get back into it, its always a very fun time. This months theme was Goth, which could obsly be taken in a whole host of different directions. The obvious choice was to make a character, but ive been trying to improve on drawing nature and buildings lately, so i wanted to challange myself to draw more of an enviorment scene.

I've been going to the graveyard alot lately, visiting my mom and grandfathers grave. Its usually empty, and it gives time to reflect. Its peaceful, in a way, which i suppose is comforting for a graveyard. I was conflicted on weather to go with historical gothic or more modern goth style, and i thought a scene in a graveyard was a good marriage between the two. It feels silly to say but i had the painting "christmas eve at the grave" by Otto Hesselbom in my mind while i as working on this, so i guess i would say that was my inspiration. feels a bit pretentious to sight famous classical art as inspiration for my little doodles that took me like a day, but that was what it was lol.

Anyway, i obviously couldnt resist the urge to have a character in the shot and try to tell a bit of a story with it. In a way i suppose thats what a grave marker is supposed to do, tell you something about the person who lies there, but only as seen through the eyes of those who care about them. Maybe i weered a bit into a different topic then goth in the end, but idk the connection is clear in my head, tho idk if it translates well. Anyway, i hope u like it :0)

i was very excited to do this DTIYS by my friend Neochu, because i think our art is almost opposite of eatch other despite us having alot in common as people. I always love how detailed her art is, its so delicate and subtle i am often reminded of glass when i look at it, it has an otherworldly beauty, and i often spend alot of time trying to read the expressions and trying to think of all the characters may be feeling behind such a subtle expression. That's why i was very excited to redraw this image, as someone with a style completely devoid of subtilty lol. i had a lot of fun putting my own spin on the pose and expressions, knowing nothing about these characters or their relationship and just trying to infer.
