when i see positivity for trans guys it often focuses on telling them that they’re traditionally masculine in some way , which ofc is validating for many people, but as an agender trans guy it just makes me feel more dysphoric. like i just think to myself ok that’s a stereotype i don’t rly fit into but what does that make me? am i even a guy? troubling.

There are transfemme who chest bind, there are transmasc who get laser hair removal, there are plenty of intersex folks who take E or T, there genderqueer and transneutral/other who have had a Mastectomy or Vaginoplasty. There are plenty of transgender and intersex people who have some type of combination or none of these things.

Clothing doesn’t have gender, and neither does hormones, procedures, or treatments!

theres actually no rules to transitioning and youre allowed to want contradictory things for your transition. it's fine if you only want some of the changes that come with hrt and take preventative measures for the rest (like wanting bottom growth but not body hair or vice versa). you can want to have vagina AND a dick. you can be a woman and want top surgery, or wear a packer. you can be a man and want to have a pussy. you can change your transition goals one or a million times or not have any goals at all and just take things as they come or as they feel right.

there are no rules.

don't present androgynously

use "binary" pronouns in any capacity

identify partially with a binary gender

have a "gendered" name

don't experience body dysmorphia

don't experience gender dysphoria

DO experience gender dysphoria/body dysmorphia but aren't sure what gender or body would suit them

just experience body/gender apathy instead

can't be open about their gender identity yet

you're all absolutely valid.

I think I’ve come a long way from considering the terms “masculine” and “feminine” to be stereotypes and nothing more. While they may hold that meaning for me personally, I understand now that they can be helpful and liberating for others.

Still, I wish there was more space to discuss trans experiences entirely outside of masc and fem, and man and woman. I wish I could present and transition a certain way without having a “masculine” or “feminine” label slapped onto me by society. It makes me extremely dysphoric.

There is a certain type of body I want to obtain through HRT that is typically ascribed one of those “masculine” or “feminine” terms, but I don’t consider the term itself relevant to my experience. Transneutral in the way that I want my body to look significantly different through HRT while remaining entirely genderless.
