I just feel like your post really resonated with me because I relate to pretty much everything you said, and you are also an equestrian which is always how I suspected I picked it up. I just think it's very important for equestrians to be aware of how bad Lyme can get. Thanks for sharing your story and I'm really happy you're back in the saddle :)

I am so sorry you had to go through this too. I would never wish this on anyone. I agree, I feel like equestrians especially should be on the lookout for lyme, especially since we are so close to woods, tall grass, etc. all the time. I never saw a tick on me, which made diagnosing it that much harder and gave it a chance to cross the blood/brain barrier. I’ve also learned unfortunately that here in the south, you have to be incredibly persistent about getting tested. I was lucky that the first infectious disease doctor I went to was one of the best lyme doctors in the southeast, but I had my fair share of neurologists tell me that there was no lyme in Georgia and that they wouldn’t test me for it. It was a struggle for me to keep friendships going, and it is definitely hard now for me as I’m just getting back since people expect me to be 100% better, and don’t understand the many grey areas of healing. I feel like the more awareness we can spread, the better, because if caught early, lyme won’t take away your life like it had for us. Thank you for sharing 😊
