He must know about the Baby on the inside, he's not an unknown face in Thorn's and Fox's close proximity and he clearly doesn't give the baby sounds on the inside even a single sideglance.

Rosie startles, not expecting to have anyone ask for her, especially not by name. "Yes, sir," she says, straightening and snapping out a salute, "what can I do for you, Captain?" she asks. She can still hear the excited babbling of Soul in the room behind her, clearly excited to see the familiar face of Thorn after a long day.

"I'm Lullaby. Offduty. The title won't be necessary right now", Lullaby explains, "I heard you have an interest in Make-Up?"

“O-oh,” Rosie can feel her face heating up rather rapidly. A commanding officer? Asking about her side hobby? She is not sure if she should be worried or not. She silently prays that she won’t get in trouble for her love of wearing it or trying to practice on her reluctant brothers.

"Thorn said something like that, I assumed you are rather invested and I'm interested. If you need some practice model I am volunteering", he offers with a generous smile.

“You... You’re offering to let me practice makeup on you?” she asks, genuinely surprised by his offer. When he doesn’t backtrack or refuse her face brightens with excitement, “that’s amazing, sir! I’ve never had someone volunteer or ask for my to do anything for them before, normally I have to beg my squad mates to sit still for me to practice on, or bribe them with something.”

Wire hugs him tightly back. "For fuck's sake, Lulls!" He yells worried. "I got another note and thought something happened to you! Why didn't you just contact me back if you were worried about me as well!?"

"BECAUSE I COULN'T!", Lullaby nearly slams broken bits and pieces of his pad into Wire's chest. "He's trying to sabotage us, Wire. His message said: 'Let's see how he likes your last message', you have to tell Cody everything is fine between us, that I didn't send that message, whatever it was."

"Hey, take a deep breath, Lulls. I'll contact him and let him know it wasn't you. You know what? I'll let him know right now!" Wire grabs his datapad and contacts Cody who doesn't take long to respond. Wire explains Lullaby's lack of a datapad and asks if Cody might have gotten a weird message from him.

Cody's response is amused laughter. Apparently the imposter tried to insult him and pretend Lullaby is breaking up with him. It does sound ridiculous and it makes Wire laugh himself when he gets send the full message.

"He didn't think it was you, Lulls. No need to panic." He wipes Lullaby's relieved tears away and tells him Cody says he loves him, 'his sweet song'. "See? No need to worry any longer." He says, than cringes at his own spoken untruth. "Well, actually nevermind, because this vod actually treathened you in your sleep."

He passes Lullaby the note. "You're staying with me and Marlo tonight, no but's. We're keeping an eye on you, I don't want you sleeping alone knowing someone is after not only you, but all of us. We're better off together."

"Wireeee", Lullaby gets up from his chair as soon as Wire enters thwir shared office. He looks more than miserable, his eyes a little bloodshot and his posture a little hunched over.

Nothing new. This always happens when Cody leaves for another unknown amount of time, perhaps not returning at all. It's just that one day of absolute hell for Lullaby, his emotional down after the euphoeric high of seeing Cody for a couple of days.

"Hey, Lullaby. You okay?" He asks worried as he sees how his fellow captain looks. He's not too surprised by this though. Lullaby usually has a period where he feels a bit more down after Cody has just left.

"I'm okay, it's just...", Lullaby shrugs a little, standing before Wire with a hurt expression, "You know..."

"Yeah..." Cody left all right. Wire pulls Lullaby in for a hug, trying to comfort his best friend. "How about we go do something later? Sparring mat or the shooting range? Maybe we can go to 79's tonight? What do you feel like? Cuddling is of course perfectly fine as well."

"I think I'd like to go to the shooting range. I'm working for the SSC", Lullaby sniffles a little and commits to the hug.

"Then let's go there." He hugs Lullaby for a little while longer, before pulling away and wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "Want to do a shooting match while we're at it? Bet I could beat you with a standard blaster."

"Absolutely", Lullaby snorts and reaches over to snatch his sniper and his pistol from the table, "I'm horrible at normal blaster handling. You should ask Cody how many times he tried to teach me a good stance. Everytime he was happy with it it only needed me a day to forget everything."

He sighs. "I fought exactly one battle for the 212th and he somehow managed to see me hide behind rocks and wildlife to take a shot, that's why he recommended me for the sharpshooter class when I transferred. Said I'm a calm shot and unfit foe close combat."

Wren straightens and loosely salutes, smiling fondly. “Yes, sir. Thank you. You should go down and eat with your men.”

With a final wave, he takes his leave, a slight spring to his step. It might not be today, but he has a day off to look forward to.

Lullaby smiles after him brightly. He will do everything for that day off, and if he has to suck Fox for it then so fucking be it. Wren deserves that, he always looks so tired and done with everything he needs the sleep and maybe a relaxing time itself.

But first, food. He quickly gathers the rest of the flimsi from the floor to finally go and have his own full ration of food. Besides, this is a good excuse to see his old squad again, Orphan and Daisy seemed rather tense the other day....

He blinks, considers it. “Ah. Well, if you really insist… A - A shift off would be amazing,” he admits with a slight flush.

"Gladly. I will inform you as soon as I have the matter managed for you." Lullaby pulls up the commlink.

"Zapshot company, this is your captain speaking", he calls out, "The ration ban has been lifted. Go to the cantina and eat now! That's an order."

He turns back to Wren, eyes sparkling with happiness. "I owe you. Let me know when you need my help."

Wren softens even further, content to see Lullaby so excited and relieved. “Really. If that’ll be all, sir?”

"Tell me how I can make it up for your efforts. I can manage a treat for you, anything you like, really, I'm a Captain, I have at least a little bit of influence. I can get you a shift off or maybe get some nice drink?", he offers excitedly.

He smirks and leans against the door frame, unsure if he could even make it to a chair at this point. Everything’s sore, and he just wants to sleep for a million years. “If I didn’t know you were alone in here, sir, I might start thinking you were taking personal time while you’re on duty,” he teases, smile tired but warm.

“I wanted to tell you that Theevis officially rescinded the ration cap early this morning. I even got him to backdate the order so that, even though it won’t technically be in effect until tonight, you and your men will have full access to food as of now.”

Lullaby's eyes light up at an instant. "Really?" He pats his own body down before pulling his commlink out.

Lullaby blushes before sinking into himself, just staring at the picture with big, watery eyes.

Marlo gets a bit worried when Lullaby stays quiet while looking at it, thinking that the idea of being recorded like that might be uncomfortable for Lullaby or makes him embarrassed. He rubs the back of his neck when he tells him, "I'm... sorry if Wire recording you two has left you feeling uncomfortable. I understand it if it has. I can always ask him to delete it for you, if you want?"

"I like it", Lullaby says quietly, then runs his finger over the holoframe. "Thank you for giving this to me." He bites his lip and closes his eyes before hugging the picture to his chest.

“I’m glad you do. I’ll let Wire know you like his gift.” Marlo is happy that Wire’s constant filming is at least good for something else than recording his embarrassing moments and seeing how happy Lullaby is with the gift, he has to admit that this habit has it’s perks.

"Cody will surely love it, too", Lullaby says with a sincere smile and looks at the picture again. "Thank you, Marlo."

Marlo smiles back at the captain. "You're welcome. Now I hate to cut our time short, but sadly I still have flimsy-work that awaits me."

"Of course", Lullaby gets up from his seat and tucks the picture to his chest while stretching out a hand towards Marlo for a good-bye. "We will see each other again soon, I think, Until then, stay safe, alright?"

After their brief farewell he gives Marlo a thankful smile before he slips out of the room, even before the door is closed Marlo can see him look at the picture again with a heavenly adorable smile.

Two mornings later, Wren knocks lightly on Lullaby’s office door once more.

This time Lullaby is found underneath his table arranging scattered flimsiwork. When he lifts his head over the desk surface he blushes and groans. "Seems like you will never meet me any other than kneeling on the floor like a clumsy child", he jokes before he gets up to offer Wren a seat.

Wren softens and smiles. “You’re welcome. And no, vod, but thank you,” he says warmly. He turns and walks to the door, pausing as it opens. “Like I said, I’ll contact you once things have been resolved. Safe shift, sir.” Wren offers a loose, two-fingered salute before striding back down the hallway. He has a senator to visit.

The whole situation leaves Lullaby a bit baffled, it even takes him a while to answer, the door long closed. "You... too, Wren", he says before slowly returning to repairing and cleaning his weapon.
