It feels like it's been a while since I got an art related ask so this got my brain juices flowing. Getting into digital art has a bit of a learning curve involved for sure.
Definitely keep pushing through even if it feels super uncomfortable, and don't be afraid to make bad art. We all have to start somewhere even if it feels awkward at first :) allow me to present you my masterpieces from 2013 made with the laptop's touchpad and paint tool sai:
(absolutely revolutionary black shading and color choices I know.. LOL)
I'll number each umbrella point to keep things organized this time around:
1. ADAPT TO THE TOOLS AT YOUR DISPOSAL
As humans, we can adapt to anything! There is no wrong answer on what drawing program or tablet to use. I personally started with a free version of Paint Tool Sai (miraculously didn't install malware on my parent's laptop back then), then switched to Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, and finally ended up on Clip Studio Paint. I did eventually buy a paint tool Sai license and tried Photoshop for a bit, and it was pretty nice too.
To this day, I'm still discovering super useful settings on Clip Studio Paint to include in my workflow, so don't be afraid to stay curious and explore whatever program you're using!
- slightly unrelated, but I use three of the shortcut buttons on my tablet for pausing/playing music and skipping songs, and a dial for adjusting the volume 😂
2. USE TRADITIONAL ART AS A SPRINGBOARD INTO DIGITAL
I'm not sure which programs and tech you use for your digital art journey at the moment, however your traditional background in and of itself is a tool that will come in handy as well.
It's a lot easier to start digital art when you have even a little bit of knowledge on fundamentals after all :)
For me it helps a lot to treat digital art as if it's traditional!
I had a really hard time with color picking in digital art until I took a painting course in university that taught color theory as well. (I talk a little about it in this ask! )Thinking "how can I make this feel more like an acrylic painting?" for example could help unlock some new ways of approaching digital art, whether it be through the brushes you use, or the way you lay down your colors.
Sometimes, blending the two art forms together can also help bridge the gap as well.
I use a Wacom Intuos Pro (non-display tablet), but have done so for years, so at this point I have good enough hand-eye coordination to draw completely digital pieces. However, many times I like to start the sketch on paper, and transfer it to digital! You can do this with Clip Studio Paint, but I think there are workarounds for other programs as well.
Basically you take your sketch and convert the white of the paper into transparent so only your lines remain, and you can color under it as if it was drawn digitally.

I hope these little nuggets of info will help you on your journey, Anon! I don't think they're super groundbreaking, and I'm unsure if I'm even qualified to give these tips haha. I think during most of my early days as a digital artist back in 2013, I just messed around a lot and didn't really take anything too seriously (art is so much simpler when you're a kid who doesn't overthink the process I suppose T_T)
I just wanna say that I love your art so much! It's my number 1 inspiration and go to learn from art! But I was wondering if you do artfight? cause I would love to "attack" you on there :^)
