Another incredible sunset from Cornbrook tonight

And the biggest stinker/worst disappointment of the year goes to ... Green Day - Revolution Radio. To be fair I wasn't expecting much and wasn't excited about them releasing a new album but the I heard Bang Bang and I thought 'ooohhhh, maybe ????' But no, its turd, awful, horrible. Special mention also goes to Against Me! Can someone please sue Laura and tell her to stop destroying a once great bands legacy please? I have no problem if she wants to carry on and do a solo thing, and even play some AM! songs live, but let's not kid ourselves, this is not Against Me!

And here are my top 4 punk albums of 2016, in no particular order ... Touche Amore - Stage Four. Not strictly punk but you will not hear a more beautiful, heartbreaking, emotional outpouring than this. Simply perfect. NOFX - First Ditch Effort. There seems to be a theme here of bands doing there best records for 15/20 years and NOFX are no exception. There are a couple of songs on this that will be in their set for ever. The Interrupters - Sat It Out Load. I love Rancid and I love the Distillers and this is the perfect marriage of the two. Its also the best thing Tim Armstrong has been involved in for 15 years. Bouncing Souls - Simplicity. Bouncing Souls doing what they do best, playing sing along pub songs to dance to at gigs. Summer Vacation came out in 2001 and there you go, their best album in 15 years!

I normally do my top 4 albums of the year but 2016 has been exceptional for new records, in fact probably the best for about 20 years. So this year I have decided to split it between 4 metal and 4 punk just to try and get it all in. So in no particular order here are my top four metal albums ... Gojira - Magma. This is the gig I am most looking forward too in 2017 Every Time I Die - Low Teens. This was a grower but I am just a sucker for those guitar riffs. Metallica - Hardwired ... To self destruct. Metallica back on form? Certainly the best thing they have done since Load and Spit Out The Bone and Moth Into The Flame are new favourite songs. Deftones - Gore. An album to fall in love to.
