A note about dress codes

From a person who is no longer in school.  

Dress codes are not meant for the boys in the classroom.  They are there to protect the faculty and staff from harassment charges.  My husband works maintenance for a school district and when class changes, he has to look at the ceiling or the ground because any eye contact he may make with a girl could cost him his job if the girl decides that she doesn’t like it.  

When my dad goes to help the school set up for musicals, it’s usually around cheerleader tryouts.  They have to shut the curtains and not leave the stage just in case someone throws a fit.  

One bad egg ruins it for everyone.  It’s not about being a distraction to others, it’s about someone not wanting to go to jail for making eye contact with an underage female that is showing off.  

Get off your high horse saying that you should wear whatever you damn well please.  Dress codes are going to be around you for life.  Leave the belly shirts for when you are over 18 and at the club.
