The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

Even though me yapping is through an anonymous little icon on the internet, it makes me happy to celebrate. To talk freely about the things that I love without that fear dragging behind me.

I wish I had understood this more when I was younger, but I will pass these words on in case anyone needs to read them. You don't have to search for approval from people who you know with a large amount of certainty, will not celebrate your wins / joys with you. If you talk to someone, even family, and your good mood just crashes from talking to them about what you're excited for / your achievements. (First of all access the situation carefully and pragmatically, don't go jumping to conclusions right out the gate!) But if this is a pattern, a sense that time after time you feel small and invalidated after talking with this person.
Find another person to share your joys with! Don't keep going to someone who doesn't celebrate with you!

And then Heli proceeds to sulk and devise ways to bump Castor off so he can horde all of your affection (it doesn’t work)
