Sure. The third Reich and America were on the opposing sides of the second world war, doesn't change the fact that they made giant contributions to the toxic ideas of eugenics, which were used to excuse mass murder of many people. Marxists and Communists have so similar definitions they're almost indistinguishable. Karl Marx himself wrote "the Communist Manifesto", disregarding the connection between those ideologies is certainly wishful thinking.

After coming to power Stalin was doing a deep cleanse on his cabinet and other places of power, a common thing to do for dictators after power switches hands from a powerful leader. Power struggles inside the Communist party including the bloody ones, shouldn't be a surprise to anybody considering the famous historical example of how French revolution has ended.
