History of the Onos – Part 1

Well, it took me an insanely long time to write this post, but it’s done :D This diagram shows the list of all 48 universes/Planes of the Ono type in TBPW, as well as the way they were born.

As a reminder, all Planes of the Ono type are different in many ways from the other universes existing in TBPW, their main two specificities being that nobody knows what spawned “Ono-Gen”’s existence, and that whenever something exterior from the Plane tampers with it, it splits into two universes with the same history – until the moment of the split. At that point, one Plane reflects a world where nothing special happened, and the other shows a change in history due to the exterior tampering. In TBPW’s chronology, said “tampering” happened many times on different occasions and in different ways. More detail on the Onos’ history under the cut.

(Not everything will be told, but there will be WAY more spoilers than I’ve ever shown thus far. The actual details will come later, Plane by Plane, in later posts; I already started working on them about a week ago.)

NB: The order of events is accurate in the diagram above, but the timeline is not on scale. When two Planes are split on the same vertical line (forming two new Planes each, aka four in total), then the events are simultaneous; but otherwise, there is no indication of the precise time spent between all splits in the diagram above.

So... Bill is basically Bill (lmao) from GF but is a homestuck trash ? I understand, with all the murdering from this webcomic, it's sure that he'd like it.

Bill: Okay there’s a lot of things to say here, so I’m gonna take one issue at a time.

Bill: It’s alright to be mistaken, Gab went through that one too. But really, try to remember that in the future, ‘kay?It might not sound like it matters that much, but it’s really unnerving to be compared to that guy, because Alex took an incredibly lot of liberties at, like, literally the last minute.Like many other shows and games or whatever, yeah, I actually was the one to give the ideas to the developers. I’m not saying they don’t have any imagination or talent, way on the contrary: it’s just that I wanted someone to picture these stories in advance, and I entrusted some especially talented professionals with the job. Though, yeah, they have no idea I was the one giving them the ideas, they just happened to “get some dream or insight” on the characters and the basic events. The rest, they just came up with it on their own, and they generally did a really good job at guessing what the original picture was like (and sometimes, I made sure that they weren’t getting too far from the original story, okay, I’ll admit).

Still, some of them took a lot more liberties than I expected. The creator of Undertale is one of the best examples– But hey, honestly, that guy is a genius! After all, what’s more interesting between some stupid story with time-traveling kids, and a game that breaks the fourth wall and blames you for playing god?Really. Freaking. Brilliant.

And you guessed it, the creator of the cartoon “Gravity Falls” is another example. I only gave him the main “characters” and the backstory, but after that he was free to do whatever he wanted with that info.… And he used that info to make me the main villain of the show for basically no reason whatsoever other than, I don’t know, convenience? Oh, and, probably to please the fans, too. Apparently the cartoon-me had lots of fans, long before the first episode picturing him came out.

You want a major breakthrough? At first, Alex didn’t even plan on me appearing in the show at all. Want proof? Here you go.

Bill: So yeah. Basically, he had always wanted to end his series with some sort of giant apocalypse filled with paranormal stuff, and he needed a scapegoat for the culprit. And of course, I ended up being the scapegoat.In a way, it’s a little because of you, since you all WANTED me to be the big bad guy.

… What, still don’t believe me? Then just consider this. Why in the multiverse would I inspire a cartoonist with the ideas of characters and adventures that really happened and in which I was involved, if I really was the bad guy, had lost, and probably wanted revenge if I somehow found a way to go back?Yeah, I suppose that the best way to have people trust me when I show up is to HAVE THE ENTIRE POPULATION ON THIS PLANET THINK THAT I’M A BAD GUY.

Bill: On a side note, the “Homestuck trash” part is mostly Eddy’s, actually. Honestly, it’s practically impossible to find anything in his wardrobe that’s not related to a specific fandom. Kinda creepy, knowing that most of them are part of those that, um, were inspired from real events. Homestuck kinda is among the only ones that are completely original works and had nothing to do with me, actually.

Now about the murdering part– Are you serious?I know the cartoon makes me look like some kind of crazy psychopatic maniac, and I admit that I do enjoy messing with people when they get on my nerves. I mean, when they’re really pissing you off, it’s just fair to let them know and make sure they stop it, right?

Bill: If you want a real sadist, go talk to that Flowey weirdo. He’s the one who really breaks records.

Gabby was never asking herself about her brother's yellow eyes ? That's sort of freaking me out

To her defense, in-universe, Bill’s eyes don’t glow, or look yellow, or cat-like, at all. We’ve been drawing his eyes that way because it’s the common (and official) symbolic trademark to show that Bill is possessing someone, and because otherwise, it’d be much harder for a reader who just stumbled on the blog to spot that the character being possessed by Bill isn’t just some sort of freaky, badly depicted and hardly realistic schizophrenic or whatever.

But in-universe, there’s hardly any physical hint that allows you to differentiate a normal person, and that same person being possessed by Bill – let alone in the Plane Ono-A1.3β, where the influence of magic is so little, most of its particles interact within seconds with the regular matter and fully disintegrates. Even Bill’s magic is subsequently weakened, and it’s only due to his incredibly massive resources and the unique way he has been able to use it, that he’s even able to just possess someone at all within that Plane.Any other magical creature would suffer great (and possibly permanent) damage from just entering the Plane, including Highers.(For those who read LWtQ, this issue has been tackled a little in the first part of the fanfic – since Sans suffered himself from kidnapping Dawn, since she was originally from Ono-A1.3β as well.)

However: If Bill were possessing a magical creature, or possesssing even a human, but in a different Plane where the influence of magic is significantly stronger, it is probable that his magic will leave a greater trace, thus potentially leave better physical hints that he’s the one in charge. As in, yes, if Bill possesses a magical creature or potentially a human, but in a Plane where magic is stronger, then it’s more probable that he will display his trademark glowing yellow, cat-like eyes.

TL;DR:

We chose to draw Eddy’s eyes that way because it would be easier for you to spot that he’s Bill (especially in the potentiality that Eddy had to come back to his body at some point, it’ll be the key hint to clearly show the difference between the two). But in-universe, Gabby (or anyone else for that matter) would only see that Eddy’s eyes look relatively normal.

So yeah, actually you could say that it is visible to some extent, but honestly? It’s so hard to notice, especially when Eddy/Bill wears these big round glasses, it’s no wonder Gabby never noticed – let alone used that detail as proof of Bill’s identity. In fact, it was the contrary: it’s only when she had obtained confirmation that Bill really had possessed her brother that she eventually thought about checking his eyes, and managed to notice it.

In any case, thank you for asking! It’s actually been an issue I wanted to make clear long ago, but I never really found out how to bring that up smoothly in-universe.

Some news about TBPW

Hello everyone, and happy new year! Also, uh, no, I’m not dead. As usual, I can’t really say that the last weeks/month really have been particularly productive, sadly– as always, much brainstorming– so much brainstorming, I can’t just focus two hours straight on the same part of the series. Which is, uh. Problematic, if I really wanted to get the stories written chronologically. I still have got an idea though, and hopefully it’ll help me settle on one time and place in TBPW’s multiverse at once.

The only catch– it needs your assistance. As in, all I ask of you is to just send me questions and requests, or just (if you really want me to work on a story instead of mere artworks and info just like that), tell me which story you want me to tell.

The idea is very simple… But (at least if I don’t settle on one story at a time) it will involve major spoilers, sadly, and thrown at random to make it worse; but part of TBPW’s goal was mainly to settle one big timeline for people to wonder about afterwards– just like building an AU. I really wanted to act as an author and have its story fully developed, but since it seems (at least for now) that this goal is out of my reach, I guess that “offering the AU” is the second best solution: giving out the plot’s main threads and the connections between the different Planes and characters, and then letting anyone who’s curious about it connect the dots and/or asking me for more specific information.

As I realized though… Even writing a summary of the stories would be hard, actually (if only the main adventure, aka Utopia). So, you know what? I’ll introduce the characters instead. What their background was in the TBPW timeline, what they did, what they grew to become. Each sheet focusing on one character at a time, and their one, simple, timeline.

So; if there’s anyone left who’s interested– please, please send me questions! You can request some characters you want to know more about (either the OCs you could see so far, or more importantly, any character from one of the fandoms involved in TBPW), or just ask about some mysteries and plot points you would have read about.

I’d love to share all of that crazy multiverse with you, but sadly it seems that getting organized about it isn’t my forte; but I’ll make sure that every question and article will be sorted into a bigger page so you can keep track of it all in the future.

Lastly, just in the case that some of you would prefer me to keep writing/drawing the stories, here is the list and synopsis of all of TBPW’s main stories. All you have to do is send me an ask saying which one you would want to read the most! If I get enough asks for this, I will settle to work on that one story as the main project for the time being.

Yeah, I know, it’s very unlike me to make a Mod Post while this blog’s role was to practically never break the fourth wall. However, given the importance of this message, I guess I’ll make an exception this time.

So, as you may or may not know, this is @lutiaskokopelli speaking, and I’ve had many struggles since about last October. I’m getting better, but still, this project remains sadly just too heavy for me to handle-- at least, I’m just way too disorganized for now. So yeah, since you’ve read the message above, I won’t repeat myself: if you want this project to carry on, please send in asks telling me what to do, because otherwise I’ll just keep doing whatever I’m doing right now. That is to say, work on everything at a time, which is very counterproductive, time-consuming, and incredibly exhausting.

PS: I have discussed with @101flavoursofweird some time ago about yet another option, which could also be an alternative. The discussion wasn’t fully serious, but if that’s something you want, then it’s totally possible-- yet again, if you’re directly asking for it! The idea was to create yet another blog, this time settling around the Azran era of TBPW’s chronology. The Azran civilization comes from the Professor Layton franchise (see here its definition in the Glossary) and takes a huge role in TBPW’s main stories; so maybe giving it its own blog in order to give both ficlets, short comics, and mainly sketches and data about their culture, language, or characters, could be an idea.

Eddy had been trying to move things around in my room to warn me, but even when he could knock things over, apparently he was hardly able to do anything beyond that. And no matter how much we tried, there’s nothing that will let him talk.I mean. He’s had three weeks to… find his way around things. He’s resourceful and Bill’s smart. If there had been a way for him to be more present physically– he’d have found it a long time ago. And -slash- or, Bill would’ve found a way to destroy it without me noticing.

It’s been a very busy evening till now, so with Bill around I couldn’t focus on crafting things like sock puppets or whatever. But of course if there’s anything I can do to try to help him, that’s my top priority– well, after making sure that Bill isn’t planning the end of the world or something.I mean, I started trying to make one while he was knocked out, but when he came to he immediately told me that it wouldn’t work and that I shouldn’t “follow blindly what cartoons say.”(Dixit the character coming from said cartoon, yeah, I know.)

I don’t trust him at all so I’ll still try to give it a shot ASAP, but…Well, in the meantime he still told us about… another method.

It’s not that great, but… It’s still something.

Or hey, maybe you could check out the AO3 version too– but that one hasn’t been updated yet, so careful with it. We’re lucky that author’s striving for “perfect retelling of the exact events”, now they’re willing to rewrite the whole thing just to correct a few background mistakes I let them do the first time around.

G: … You can’t be serious.

G: But you’re still the one who… “inspired” them into writing that thing, weren’t you? Like everything else here.

B: Well, yeah, I’ll give you that. By the way, it’s no use trying to contact them, ‘kay? You know my methods. Most artists I help have no idea I was the one who gave them all the basic ideas.

G: Yeah. You didn’t even make deals for that, right?

B: What, I couldn’t risk to get them suspicious or feel guilty about “creating” a fandom about things that already exist and happened before. B’sides, in that case I don’t even need them to do me any favors. I mean, they’re already doing it by getting their stories famous, aren’t they?

G: But that’s the thing that I just don’t get. I can see why you’d “inspire” professional artists into making these– I mean no, I still can’t understand what the heck you’re doing that for, but– now fanfiction? That’s too far, Bill. That’s just getting way too far.One single cartoon, I could get. Gravity Falls was nice enough and it had you in it. But did you really have to make sure that all the rest would already have a fandom here too?

B: Two things, bud. First off, as you know, we’re here to tell the truth. But given how complicated it is and how long it’d be to tell everything, I just, y’know– tried to have some other professional storytellers tell some parts of the puzzle in advance, see. So that all I have to do when my part comes is to just tie everything back together.Second, why fanfiction this time? Simple: the videogame Undertale was already out. And though it was some fantastic job with awesome new ideas that I never even told him about, that Toby guy kinda distorted things a lot more than I expected. And by that time, that Molly girl hadn’t even been kidnapped yet, so I had no idea she was supposed to take part in the equation! So given that I lacked time, I had no other choice but to offer that plot to the only type of workers who could get something out in just a few months. Easy.

G: Ugh. I just can’t believe you’re saying that like if it was normal to just have some random artists publish stories about people who already exist and have them develop their entire psyche and personal lives! It’s just– you didn’t need to go that far. Never without their consent!

B: Gab. I want people to know the truth. You can’t do that without getting at least some intimate secrets public too in the process.

G: Or dozens. Or all of them. Even Molly and her family now! They’re from this freaking universe, dammit!

B: So what? Why would they deserve a different treatment just because they’re from the same Plane as you?

G: She’s still trapped there! Since you know so much about what happened to her, why wouldn’t you save her instead, huh?

B: Oh, really? Well, you know what? I actually was the one to put an end to that thing. If it weren’t for me, this game would’ve gone on and on for much longer than that! Granted, I arranged things so that she’d be the next one on the list. But that’s because she was the only one who could’ve ever put a real change to things! If there was any way to make sure that the kidnappings would stop, then it had to be through her, and no one else. She had to be the last victim.

G: … Ugh. I can’t even believe I’m arguing with you.
