Seneca Pink Lady Corn (Zea mays). This cob was given to me by Blain Snipstal of Black Dirt Farm (Eastern Shore of Maryland) years ago at a Seed Keepers Collective gathering. He had gotten it from Winona LaDuke and Zachary Paige at White Earth Land Recovery Project’s annual winter Indigenous Farming Conference in Minnesota. Winona was given seed in New York (I presume from the Seneca nation) and had it grown out on a large scale by a neighbor. Growing from only one ear will not give us much genetic diversity but I’ll grow a couple hundred plants and then trade Pink Lady seed for Pink Lady seed with Zach this winter, which will increase the genetic strength of both our seed stocks. I’d love to know more about this corn!
