First it was the events. Where once you could have met those special individuals you thought had all but vanished from London, now those same events had become filled with shallow, transactional conversation and a foreboding sense of desperation.
Next came the dating apps, a revolution in interpersonal connection! Now we were able to define exactly what we want, searching efficiently for that person we know will be the perfect fit.
But instead, the more we sought to define what we wanted, the less we seemed to find it. For every box we ticked, two more emerged unticked. We labelled ourselves and others, ad infinitum, until somehow, we no longer knew what we were looking for.

And so we gave up. What’s the point when there are no more surprises?
