Playing Deltarune Chapter 3 on my Switch 2, latest version, I pressed the home button at the very end of the Feature Presentation and when i opened the game again itās just this black screen, no controls do anything. Upon rebooting the game the save slot was empty (expected, as i hadnāt saved yet) and things worked normally from there.
Iām curious as to the reason it happened thoughā¦ has anyone else seen this?

Sometimes I really want to take everyone under the age of 24 (as of 2026) by the shoulders and say:
"I'm really sorry that lockdown and the ongoing pandemic interrupted pivotal educational and social/emotional development moments for you. You have an uphill battle towards adjusting to a lot of community based efforts because you experienced a mass trauma during an incredibly important time in your life where you should have physically been around your peers learning to engage in shared community. There is no "but" here, I'm genuinely really sorry. Something many of us consider key points in our interpersonal growth as youths was taken from you, not without reason but without care for its impact on you. I hope you know we are eternally allies in our struggles and if that is something you struggle to know I hope you can learn it someday."
Because so many of the angriest, most disenfranchised people I see on this website are under 24 and I often try to put younger people's behavior in the context of where they might have been 2020. I've seen the impact on my siblings and their peers+friends first hand, all ages 18-24. We've talked about how its impacted them, the isolation, the attachment to the internet, the anxieties and phobias and fears it developed in them due to the pandemic, the political unrest, and the responses to both that we've seen since. I know they're not the only ones and I know how much being marginalized also influences that impact too.
It's terrifying. I know it must be terrifying for a lot of the young people on Tumblr too. I hope one day we're able to bridge all of those complex feelings into something collective and positive so we can do our best to prevent similar traumas from happening to future generations.

In this AU there are no humans. Instead the humans are more akin to kittypets in warriors. Except as advanced as humans would be in their little kitty society. Pretend they have opposable thumbs. Theyāre referred to as āsurface cats/surfacersā, āmakersā (to contrast with warriors), or ādomesticsā (derogatory). They have more natural colors and features.
The monsters are the warriors equivalent. Called āmountain catsā, ācave catsā, āwild catsā, or āferalsā (derogatory) by surface cats, but refer to one another as āwarriorsā. They have more unnatural colors and features. No magic though. They used to be able to get gemstones blessed by Starclan, but they have been cut off after being forced underground, to the point that the younger generation doubts there even is an afterlife. Only a select few still have blessed gemstones or can find blessings from a different source.
Souls work differently in this too. Surfacer souls work like the 9 lives in warrior cats. Except you only get one life per soul. Like in canon UT, anyone who takes a soul shares their body with said soul. Unlike canon UT, the soul canāt control the body at all or resist being absorbed. This is why the makers feared the warriors so much. They fear immortality; being forced to exist powerless with your murderer is practically hell.
Also, unlike UT, anyone can take a surfacer soul. All it takes is killing them with your claws. Because of this, it is extremely taboo in surfacer culture to use oneās claws to fight, instead they use weapons. And this is why I had to figure out Cloverās gun >:/ Warriors primarily use their claws though out of tradition, causing them to be seen as more savage and dangerous. They are all trained to fight (still using wcās -kit > -paw > warrior naming system) while few surfacers are. But no amount of hand to hand combat training can beat a gun, so yeah, they lost the war.
Surfacers are atheists of sorts? They believe warriors have no souls because they canāt see them like surface souls. Also, not fond of immortality so the idea of an afterlife is not appealing. Sucks for them though because, unknown to most, everyone goes to āStarclanā when they die. That is, if they accept their death and choose to move on.
Finally, thereās no save or reset stuff. Only one shot at this. However, either surfacer or warrior soul power can be used to heal wounds right before death. A barely known loophole that gives near invincibility. But at the cost of the userās soul, leading to permadeath eventually. There are ghosts as well. Unlike UT, they are just anyone who has died and refused to move on. Both Buttercup (Flowey) and Chara end up as ghosts. How they work is a whole other can of worms.
Wow this was long. And just the basics. I have thought a lot about this silly AU. I hope to eventually show this information visually or in the story itself. Idk. Weāll see.
