ough. I found your mike on artfight before I found you on tumblr and something about him just. Scratches my brain /pos
there’s something about your miketenna that’s like a damn drug to me
This question has been sent to me a bit of a while ago so firstly;
Thank you very much for leaving that ask in my askbox! I don't often get to respond to messages because I am not that good at getting my thoughts out and busy with other stuff but I always appreciate them regardless.
Now onto Mike, Mike in the game is a character we know very little about for CERTAIN. What we know is that
1. He used to be Tenna's assistant/control room operator.
2. He used to be very close with both Tenna and Spamton. Spamton in the present day still views him favourably enough not to spare him from revenge and is in fact very protective of Mike.
3. His room is in the Cat Petterz cartridge
And of course, the newsletter scene where Tenna recounts Mike's warning where it implies Mike had some knowledge of Spamton's deal... Or at least the consequences.
All this go say that to re-make my adaptation of him, I had to make some artistic liberties.
Tenna and Spamton are both very similar characters in their personalities and take a LOT from each other, which makes them a great comedic and tragic duo!
However, two theatrical and talkative characters need a foil to support & balance them out, right?
So you have Mike; a mallow, introverted, quiet and mostly level-headed member of the trio who they can rely on to be at their beck and call, yet their quirks had rubbed off each other so much over the years they became their weird little thing.
I'd say their dynamic is comparable to the fun-gang or even Susie Kris and Noelle to some degree?
I don't want to make this post too long so unfortunately I won't go deep into Miketenna's dynamic. But if you've seen my stuff on the Miketenna tag, It can give you an idea.
I just wish more people would take Tenna's grief and denial over Mike as seriously as they do with Spamton.
For those of you who were done scrolling [and hopefully reading] through my little ramble, you get this Miketenna doodle! Yayyyy!
Have a good rest of your day/evening/noon/night 📺🎤
I'm thinking of a crazy theory that noelle might not be the angel 😭 idk how to explain it, but that one sentence "banish the angels heaven" got me thinking too much
I also think I that silhouette of "the girl" is us, the heart i mean 🥹
Deltafell/Defernull weird route concept where it's all about sanding down Noelle's rough edges and replacing her with something more palatable. Woobification as in universe horror. This Noelle is so mean so entitled wouldn't you rather she be something closer to her normal Deltarune self?
Imagine a conceptual game like this. And chapter 2 ends with Noelle having a row with Susie or Ralsei not just a little spat but a big argument. One that could leave certain people not liking her or wishing the scene wasn't in the game or pretend it never happened. Well here's an option you can make the scene not happen by doing the weird route. Get rid of that pesky personality that made you so uncomfortable and spare your favs feelings? Isn't that wonderful? Why engage with the worse parts of this characters identity when you can just avoid it?
I really liked seeing @swoo0zy 's Take of a DeltaFell/DEFERNULL Version of Lanino and Elnina, especially with how both of their more extreme sides are shown through stronger elements and sharper shape language whilst those parts are still being kept as the pseudo-hair they were meant to be in DELTARUNE, so I wanted to test how effective they would be if I remade them into Overworld Sprites (which is mostly just a challenge and another form of practice for me which is why I usually try to follow the original style as closely as possible)!
If nothing else, you have to give Gooseworx and the Amazing Digital Circus crew credit because they're all very online people and 100% had to know that making a show whose basic premise is "what if a bunch of people who are all fundamentally a bit exhausting to hang out with were forced to hang out with each other at gunpoint" was a fandom discourse bomb waiting to happen, and they did it anyway.
Me having a take on Mike that's a separate character from Friend while also being fixated on the Friendpins ship is really funny to me because I end up imagining Friend checking out Mike in wherever he ended up in and being like:
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO VELVETSTRINGS FOR ALLOWING ME TO USE THE DESIGNS HE MADE FOR THEM!!!

GENERAL INFO ABOUT MIKE TRIO
All the Mikes act more-so as bodyguards with different roles to uplift Tenna.
SMALL MIKE/BATTAT
KEY POINTS:
-Elusive "Co-host" and spy for Mr.Tenna, does all of the surveillance around TV world as well as gathering intel on the Dreemurrs for Tenna's benefit.
-Dynamic with Mr. Tenna is somewhat flipped from the canon counterpart, Battat has a bit more leverage over him here. Though this dynamic wouldn't be outwardly admitted by Tenna, leaving it unspoken.
-Compared to his canon counterpart he is less concerned about only finding out who the real "Mike" is and is more concerned with uncovering Mr. Tenna's personal business. Which includes his past regarding Spamton. Becoming obsessed with finding out what had caused Mr.Tenna to change in the first place. Documenting everything.
-Helps to journal and create sensationalist headlines for Tenna.
GENERAL PERSONALITY:
-Smug, vain, overconfident, somewhat superficial. Deeply juxtaposed to canon Battat, he assumes he knows everything and knows it best, especially when it’s about Mr. Tenna.
-Due to being around and monitorting Mr. Tenna so much, Tenna's traits have somewhat naturally “rubbed off” on Battat. Especially in times of stress Battat tends to mimic his behaviors.
-He feels entitled about Tenna, wanting Tenna all to himself (like canon Battat) and is technically successful in doing so (unlike canon Battat) but at the cost of a skewed dynamic.
-Somewhat mirroring Mr. Tenna's loss of identity, he's lost himself in the entire Mike facade and has lost himself by being so absorbed with Tenna's past.
-Generally a bad influence on Tenna alongside Ramb (enabling the changes that caused Tenna to lose himself in the first place and spiral down into isolation as well as the tactics he uses to keep eyes on himself).
-No better than the fanatic Pippins, he's taken the concept to the extreme.
-Is still an emotional rock to Tenna here and heavily relied upon, deeply trusted by Tenna for better or for worse considering all of the past info he has kept on Tenna unbeknownst to him.
CAT MIKE/PLUEY
(Shadow Guy Design by Velvet)
KEY POINTS:
-Mike Trio's costume designer, Mr. Tenna's personal tailor, and stylist.
-Designed the Mike costumes and Tenna's "new" outfit (the current one he wears after giving into Ramb’s suggestions). Most trusted Mike he often goes to for (literally) keeping up appearances.
-Probably the most similar to his canon counterpart out of the three Mikes, mostly here for fun, enjoying the promotion from costume designer to Tenna’s personal stylist that he gets in this role.
GENERAL PERSONALITY:
-A bit more bold and "forward" in comparison to his canon counterpart's laid back and reserved attitude. Doesn't keep to himself as much and moreso nosy.
-He gets along incredibly well with Battat, unlike canon they're much more tightly knit due to their similar personalities. Especially since Pluey doesn't actually want to be personally involved with Tenna's feelings and emotional needs, allowing Battat to fully monopolize it.
(This in no way stops Tenna from still finding him cute, which Pluey is flattered by.)
-The Mike that Battat considers the most helpful in terms of gathering information and just knowing what others are saying about him.
COWBOY MIKE/JONGLER
(Zapper Design by Velvet)
KEY POINTS:
-The Mike who takes their role as bodyguard seriously.
-Although they're not versed at the whole gathering intel or reconnaissance like Battat is, they make sure to keep everything in physical order, ensuring Mr. Tenna's Safety and Privacy.
-Because of their clashing roles, intent, and personalities- Battat and Jongler do not get along well. Jongler was under the impression that the Mikes were here to aid Tenna, they weren’t really prepared for Battat spiraling into uncovering Tenna’s past and trying to co-host the whole show alongside him.
-Leaning more into an "Outlaw" Persona, they’re more imposing here and a little less “airheaded” than canon Jongler.
GENERAL PERSONALITY:
-More quiet and reserved compared to their canon counterpart.
Willingly refuses to listen to Battat's commands, sometimes going out of their way to do the complete opposite. (Thinking of the bit in the actual Mike battle)
-For this reason, they have the better sense of humor of the three.
-The only Mike who feels a bit guilty about the vice grip that Battat and the idea of "Mike" in general has over Mr.Tenna. Feeling especially bad about the whole ruse, including Battat knowing and digging though Mr.Tenna's past and secrets.
-For this reason, when they're the Mike-of-the-Day they keep any new revelations they find out about Mr.Tenna secret from Battat, which can lead to arguments and infighting.
-Ultimately they are willingly still a part of the Mike Trio. They can be amiable and silly with the other two.
