Can he do medical malpractice on me?
i would know him by ass alone
Should vampires be bigoted? Was the daughter they got killed insensitive to her father's trauma? Why don't these ancient monsters have my exact same progressive 21st century values? Must be bad writing. Was the abusive noblewoman relatable? Were everyone's pronouns respected? Was all that incest and torture really necessary? Are the murderers my friends?
Also Daniel's bigotry, Armand's petty cruelty, the internalized racism of ghost Claudia

The whiplash in the audience reactions to IWTV season 1 and TVL is infuriating but somewhat amusing.
Remember when everyone was up in arms that season 1 Lestat was too abusive and villainous, and now people are complaining that TVL favours Lestat and lets him off the hook too much at the expense of other characters?
It's almost like the perspective a story is written in changes the way people's personalities and actions are portrayed and interpreted.
it's almost like this has been a major theme of the story since the beginning
You know when there's like, a straight show and everyone's like "it's full of queer subtext between the main straight dudes, and this character is obviously autistic and they really meant to say trans rights"? And then there's a queer show and all of a sudden it's "no but they weren't sensitive about this character's trauma and the queer sex scenes are too short and they're all problematic as fuck, i can't even watch"? And then our shit doesn't get renewed, and we hated on it the whole way for not embodying the perfection we'd never dream of demanding from the straight show?
Yeah, something like that
This is a valid point about a lot of works, but I feel like the issue with Vampire Lestat in specific is that IWTV was a lot better, gayer and more cohesive in previous seasons than now. Replacing the agender/trans and platonic vibes of Gabriella with an a a4 incestuous femme mommy who is described as Lestat's "great love" while spending no time on Nikki is weird and kind of suspicious. Feels like they're trying to change and widen the target audience in a way that comes at the cost of the queer storytelling and audience.
I also just think it's kind of bad on a formal level divorced from the queerness of it all. Not that I'm huge book fan or purist, I like a lot of the changes, but I gather that Lestat isn't really supposed to be the kind of character you find so cringe, whiny and annoying you want to kill him.
I mean, I personally don't feel that way, but also, have you read the first page of The Vampire Lestat recently?
That bitch is one step away from putting his middle finger up at some preps.
